Simple enough, determines your "alignment", which is yet another way of classifying people; this one is used in AD&D games at least. Whoa, if someone actually came here, I can only say that was not my intention and I make no claims of having got this right. Anyway, this is kind of old, I would perhaps change it if I felt like it.
