The slow-moving coup continues to roll on, and I haven't seen any indication that it's going to be stopped.

Pretty outrageous! It really shouldn't matter who counts the votes as long as they are honest...but we are talking about Republicans so it's concerning.

You link you provided didn't work for me. I think the site removed or movied their article. I posted an alternate link to the same topic.

Much about the 020 GA vote count is suspicious.

If you SwampCult Dems thought that the GOP was going to just roll over and play dead after all of the shenanigans the smoke filled room handlers of "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" pulled on 020 you were dreaming.

Y'nes got away with it last year but you're going to have to come up with a new bag of tricks for future swipes.

The last election exposed democracy for what it is. The game has changed, people don't need to pretend they won fairly anymore.

  5. by HatetheSwamp on December 12, 2021 5:06 am

    georges,

The Dems have been the party of cheating and corruption since the days of Tammany Hall, essentially 200 years. They are unashamed of the reign of Mayor Daley in Chicago who advised his supporters to vote early and to vote often.

From time to time, Dems have been held in check but they were ingenious in 020 in taking advantage of COVID-19 to swipe the presidency for a flatulent fool who fondly recalls his days as an 18 wheeler driver.

They'll, most likely, always be the party of cheaters. But, for the next few elections, GOPs will probably have their number.

So we have to essentially do away with our democratic republic altogether and allow the Republican Party to blatantly ignore election results and manufacture their own tallies because you suspect without providing a shred of evidence that Biden won because of widespread fraud?

    You, sir, are certifiable.

So we have to essentially do away with our democratic republic altogether and allow the Republican Party to blatantly ignore election results...

    WHAT!!!!!?

Who sits behind the desk in the Oval Office? The last time I checked, it was "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap."

No one is ignoring election results! Where do you come up with this mindless crap!!!!!?

What you're going to have to deal with is accountability in the casting of votes...honest...legitimate...votes!

I am confident that Dems will, in time, find ways to Jimmie honest voting. They always have. I have no doubt that they will again.

Where have you been? Swing states whose legislatures are controlled by Republicans have passed laws which now allow them to toss out election results they don't like without providing a reason.

Twenty-four new laws have been passed in 14 states this year that will allow state legislatures to “politicize, criminalize, and interfere in election administration,” according to a report released Thursday by three voting rights groups, States United Democracy Center, Law Forward, and Protect Democracy. Overall, 216 bills have been introduced in 41 states to achieve these ends.

When Texas Republicans scrambled to pass a massive voter suppression bill over Memorial Day weekend, they included a provision written behind closed doors with no public scrutiny that would make it easier for judges to throw out election results. Under the plan, losing candidates would no longer have to prove that individual fraudulent votes swung the election but rather that the number of allegedly fraudulent votes exceeded the margin of victory—which is exactly what Trump falsely alleged in 2020. The measure would also lower the burden of proof needed to demonstrate illegal voting, so that candidates only have to show a “preponderance of evidence” instead of “clear and convincing evidence.”

Ah, Mother Jones, again. What is that you lack? Sense or shame?

These laws are intended to make voting easy and honest...

...and to address the abuses perpetrated in 020.

  12. by Donna on December 12, 2021 9:53 am
There is no evidence of widespread fraud in the 2020 election. Voting was already easy and honest.

  13. by HatetheSwamp on December 12, 2021 9:55 am

There you go with your "no evidence" line...again...STILL!

    C'mon man. Gimme a break!

I don't have time for silly, pointless conversations. We're busy getting ready for our big move. The movers will be arriving Tuesday morning.

    Move?

    Arizona?

  16. by Donna on December 12, 2021 2:12 pm
Yes. Tucson. We have a lot going on here.

  17. by HatetheSwamp on December 12, 2021 2:25 pm

I'm sure you have lots going.

Next time you vote against Trump it will be meaningful.

  18. by Donna on December 13, 2021 7:11 am
Yep. It's going to be much more exciting politically living in Arizona, which is one of the states that has already taken steps to overturn the election results in 2024 if Trump loses there.

Arizona. Republican legislators have passed a law taking away authority over election lawsuits from the secretary of state, who’s now a Democrat, and giving it to the attorney general, a Republican. Legislators are debating another bill that would allow them to revoke election certification “by majority vote at any time before the presidential inauguration.”

Georgia. Last year, Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s Republican secretary of state, helped stop Trump’s attempts to reverse the result. State legislators in Georgia have since weakened his powers, and a Trump-backed candidate is running to replace Raffensperger next year. Republicans have also passed a law that gives a commission they control the power to remove local election officials.

Michigan. Kristina Karamo, a Trump-endorsed candidate who has repeated the lie that the 2020 elections were fraudulent, is running for secretary of state, the office that oversees elections. (Republican candidates are running on similar messages in Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and elsewhere, according to ABC News.)

Pennsylvania. Republicans are trying to amend the state’s Constitution to make the secretary of state an elected position, rather than one that the governor appoints. Pennsylvania is also one of the states where Trump allies — like Stephen Lindemuth, who attended the Jan. 6 rally that turned into an attack on Congress — have won local races to oversee elections.

Wisconsin. Senator Ron Johnson is urging the Republican-controlled Legislature to take full control of federal elections. Doing so could remove the governor, currently a Democrat, from the process, and weaken the bipartisan state elections commission.
