We've always had stupid people in this country. But they were never so empowered to negatively affect the whole country as they are today. The Stupid never had a champion anything like Trump has been for them.

Trump made being a pig-ignorant moron "cool". He made being a blithering idiot appear acceptable. If it's okay for the president to be a psychopathic, uninformed, willfully ignorant fool, they felt quite empowered to join in the foolishness themselves. With gusto.

It's like Stupidity has become a political party all it's own.

Don't even try to outdo Curt. It comes too naturally to him.

Interestingly, Evie still plays the, HOW IS IT TRUMP'S FAULT?, game. Every time she asks how something is Trump's fault, I think that I know several people who can splain.

  2. by Curt_Anderson on September 10, 2021 10:33 am
Trump took the unintelligentsia's disdain for intellectuals to it's logical extension: exalting of the stupid. Trump's base are the people Lincoln spoke of: the some of the people who can be fooled all of the time.

  3. by Ponderer on September 10, 2021 10:58 am

    You nailed it, Curt.

Trump has been the keystone of this mass idiocy, holding the whole thing up.

He loves the adoration. He couldn't give a crap about the intelligence of the people he gets filling the stands at his rallies, just as long as they are stupid enough to believe a word that he says.

Trump famously said during one of his Nuremberg rallies, "I love the uneducated".

  5. by HatetheSwamp on September 11, 2021 3:21 am

Offensive, Donna. Extremely offensive! You've posted this hate speech before and I've gone bonkers before.

I don't know what sort of privileged background you came from, but it doesn't earn you the privilege of demeaning others not as well born as you!

Neither of my parents completed high school.

My dad was one of eight children of a "truck farmer." Dad's mom was killed in an auto accident when the youngest children were in their early school years. My dad became a sort of nanny and administrative assistant to grandpa when he was in his teens. He didn't finish school.

Dad's childhood was a fairytale compared to mom's. She was one of nine, raised in Appalachia. Her family was destitute. She was born five years into the Great Depression. Her dad was an alcoholic who suffered from mental illness and never worked at a job for more than a few weeks at a time. Mom was forced by the family to quit school and get a job and move from home. When she was 13, she lied about her age to get a job in a shoe factory.

Trump loves the uneducated? Bless his heart.

You? You can take your smug sanctimonious disdain for the uneducated, and you can go to hell!

When he say’s he loves the uneducated, I think most of us know who Trump is talking about and why he “loves” them. He is a con-man and a hustler and they really do love the uneducated. But that kind of love is not what we usually think of when we say we love someone. And when he says ‘uneducated’, it has nothing to do with the amount of schooling a person has or lack thereof. And as the hucksters and grifters will happily tell you, there is an “uneducated” person born everyday.

  7. by Curt_Anderson on September 11, 2021 7:50 am
Trump deserves a spot in the pantheon of con men, swindlers and grifters along with Charles Ponzi and Bernie Madoff.

After Charles Ponzi's scheme was exposed and the notorious grifter was sentenced to prison he still had support from his "uneducated" marks.

According to a Wikipedia article about him, "remarkably, during his various prison terms, Ponzi continued to receive Christmas cards from some of his more gullible investors, as well as requests from others to invest their money—from his prison cell."

Had HtS been around in the 1920s he probably would have thought that Charles Ponzi was really a maligned victim of the news media, financial investigators and the courts or as he would have called them "the Swamp".

"Trump loves the uneducated? Bless his heart.

You? You can take your smug sanctimonious disdain for the uneducated, and you can go to hell!"

She wasn't showing disdain for the uneducated by describing Trump's disdain for the uneducated. Valiant effort there though, Hate.

Isle pretty much covered it, but you actually believe that Trump's "love" for the "poorly educated" (what he actually said) stems from his respect, sympathy, and empathy for their personal battles in life??? You think he actually gives a flying rat's phuck about the struggles of the poorly educated??? You think he actually harbors a special place of empathy in his heart for people like your parents? Are you really that gullible?

Another thing he loved doing that many might have missed was that he loved giving himself away in a way that he thought he could get away with later denying or claiming was just a joke. His "Russia, if you're listening..." remark was a key example. Asking China, on live national television, to help him break the law was another. He defies the Constitution by flagrantly soliciting a thing of value from a foreign national regarding an upcoming election, and then is all, "What...? What do you mean? Oh I was just trying to get him to look into corruption in general!". Yeah, that one didn't quite work out the way he wanted it to.

And in this case, regarding his thrown in, off the cuff line about loving the poorly educated that Donna mentioned, he was telling all the most gullible idiots, who literally don't know any better than to slavishly believe all his lies and to pig-ignorantly support him and his wanton criminality, that he couldn't do it without them. While laughing behind their backs about it. Oh yeah he looooooooves him some poorly educated.

It was his way of saying, "Thanks a lot, SUCKERS!!!", while being able to outwardly look like that wasn't what he was actually saying. Effectively getting all his truly stupid sycophant suckers to think, "Wow. He really cares for me!".

And you fell for it too, Hate.

The previous post was by my wife.

As she said, Trump's exact words were "I love the poorly educated", which is essentially the same thing, as no one is literally UNeducated. So when we say that someone is uneducated, we mean that they're poorly educated.

Sheri covered very well how I would have responded to hate's post.

My maternal grandfather quit school after 8th grade because his dad needed him to work at the grocery store he owned. And even Sheri didn't complete high school. So of course I don't look down on people who didn't conplete grade school. I will even go so far as to say that the education you receive in grade school is generally overrated.

It was fuuny to see hate go off on me like that, though, as he totally missed why I brought that up.

  10. by Ponderer on September 11, 2021 10:37 am

Hate's only method for responding to points he doesn't like is to feign that he missed them entirely.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on September 11, 2021 11:42 am

You two are full of it.

po lamented that Trump made being "stupid 'cool'" and you, Donna, piled on with the reference to Trump's adoration of the uneducated.

You wrote what you wrote which you've put on SS before, and often.

    Own it!

You have been making it clear here for more than a decade that you're proud to be smarter, and better, than people who are different than you are.

  12. by islander on September 11, 2021 2:14 pm
Don’t ya just love Hate’s sanctimonious and hypocritical use of the phrase “different than you”. LoL ! By not qualifying, or telling anyone the manner in which this someone is “different than you”, he thinks he can fool people into thinking that the only reason that you might not like or condemn someone is because the person is not the same as you.

He won't or for some reason is unable to acknowledge or admit the actual reason you might condemn someone. I’ll vigorously condemn someone who is a child molester because that person molests children. I don’t molest nor would I ever want to molest a child, so yes, the child molester is different from me, but it’s not simply for being different from me that I condemn such a person. I wonder if Hate really can’t get that?

  13. by Donna on September 11, 2021 4:00 pm
The funny thing is that all it took for Hate to lose his cool with me was for me to quote Trump.
