Ok all you entitled folks out there receiving Social Security and Medicare;
when you vote on Tuesday keep this in mind:

Listen to Ronald Reagan (click on the link) explain why these programs are pure “socialism”, they are actually quite frightening when you think about them!

Reagan makes it perfectly clear how and why these programs will lead our country down the road to communism and a socialist dictatorship just like the former “Union of Soviet Socialist Republics” known as Russia. And yes, as any Republican will tell you, we are, like Russia and the People's Republic of China, a republic, not a democracy like we thought.

If we don’t want our country to become a communist country, we have to end these socialist programs now!

Vote Republican! They will be work hard to end socialized medicine (Medicare) and let the private insurance companies take care of us. Republicans fought very hard to keep Social Security and Medicare from becoming law. They lost that battle but if we help them they can still win the war.

Although private insurance companies, naturally, will have to charge us a lot more (an awful lot more) it'll be worth it since they will save us from communism ...Remember what 😀 Smiley says, ”Freedom isn’t Free” !!

Living in a purple state and, beyond that, a purple area of a purple state, we were deluged with political ads in the spring, and even more so in the fall.

One thing that I've noted about the Dem ads, especially those aimed at Oz, many of them are just outright and unabashed lies! Even more than in the past...

...and like your post here, isle:

They will be work hard to end socialized medicine (Medicare) and let the private insurance companies take care of us. Republicans fought very hard to keep Social Security and Medicare from becoming law. They lost that battle but if we help them they can still win the war.

Just curious, isle. Does this mean that you're on old-fashioned Medicare and not Medicare Advantage...a Bubba Clinton innovation.

  2. by islander on November 8, 2022 7:32 am

    What lie?

You, Hate, apparently, never heard of Reagan and the Republican's fight to keep socialism from infecting our country! This must really be shocking to you! I hope you'll be voting Republican now that you know what they are fighting for!

  3. by HatetheSwamp on November 8, 2022 7:44 am

    isle,

Are you suggesting that you honestly believe that the GOPs "will be working hard to end socialized medicine (Medicare)?"

  4. by Donna on November 8, 2022 7:44 am

Ronald Reagan actually went so far as to cut a record where he warned Americans that Medicare was a communist plot.

More Republicans voted against Medicare than voted for it.

  5. by islander on November 8, 2022 7:46 am

Also, Hate, we have to keep the Democrats from taxing the billionaire's and their giant corporations.

    Like 😀 Smiley says

"Freedom isn’t free." It cost a lot and the only way we can pay for it is with our taxes. Of course the super rich and their corporations shouldn’t have to pay taxes since, just for working for them, they give us some of their own money. We can then use that money to pay the necessary taxes to support our military which we need to keep all us (including them) free! That's how they pay “their” taxes, by generously giving ‘us’ money so that we can build roads and bridges, therefore it’s only right that we send enough of that money to the government in the form of taxes in order to pay for freedom for all of us !!!

  6. by islander on November 8, 2022 7:50 am

Donna~ If you click on the link you can listen to Reagan's record. Republicans haven't changed their tactics one bit.

You gotta' admit, he's a good salesman...He just didn't make the sale that time!

"Are you suggesting that you honestly believe that the GOPs "will be working hard to end socialized medicine (Medicare)?" ~ Hate

The Republicans themselves say they will. Why don't you believe them?

islander: Oh ok. That link looked like a picture that didn't work, so I ignored it, but I just tried it and it works.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on November 8, 2022 7:57 am

My guess is that if Bubba hadn't tweaked Medicare with what is now called Advantage, it may have crashed by now.

    Reagan probably wasn't entirely wrong.

  12. by Donna on November 8, 2022 8:07 am

If Medicare were funded like we fund the Pentagon, there would always be enough money to cover all recipients 100%.

  13. by islander on November 8, 2022 8:15 am

Hate~ Medicare AKA socialized medicine never would have crashed...There is no way The American people and the Democrats would have allowed it...Doesn't mean that the Republicans won't continue to try and weaken it and use it as a means to frighten the "less astute Americans" most of whom believe to a large degree what Reagan was trying to sell them!

You fell for Reagan's and the Republican's sales pitch didn't you?

  14. by HatetheSwamp on November 8, 2022 9:41 am

    Y'know. I don't think you're joking.

  15. by HatetheSwamp on November 8, 2022 10:12 am

Right, Donna, and if the Dems had not foisted the hiring of 87,000 IRS agents on us and put that money into border security, what?, 100,000 Americans would not have died of fentanyl poisoning.

And, if the pentagon weren't funded like it is, all that weaponry supporting Ukraine wouldn't exist.

  16. by oldedude on November 8, 2022 10:15 am
Just to start with the conception of your thread. They're not socialist ideas, they're welfare ideas. The two are different.

  17. by islander on November 8, 2022 11:22 am

"Finally, for all the uncertainty surrounding tomorrow's election, there is one thing of which I am 100% certain. Far more Americans today are concerned about our democracy, and determined to reclaim it, than were even paying attention to it in 2016. There are new organizations, new connections, new voters, new efforts to remake the country better than it has ever been, and the frantic efforts of the Republicans to suppress voting, gerrymander the country, and now to take away our right to choose our leaders indicates we are far more powerful than we believe we are. No matter what happens tomorrow, that will continue to be true, and I am ever so proud to be one of you."

Thank you Heather Cox Richardson !!

Ranked choice voting sounds somewhat complicated at first but it really isn't. We have it in Maine and it makes perfect sense. It is the only way third party candidates or write ins have a real chance of winning elections since, if you vote for a third party candidate and that candidate doesn't do well and is eliminated, your second choice gets your vote You don't have to worry that by voting for a third party candidate you'll be throwing your vote away . It also insures that whoever wins, that person will have 50% or more of the voter's approval. As it is now in states without ranked choice voting, a candidate can win an election even though most of the voters in the state neither wanted nor voted for that candidate.

In Maine the Republicans have vigorously opposed ranked choice voting. We do have it for Federal elections, President, Senators, etc. but the Republicans have still been able to block it for state elections. Our former Republican governor won his first election in a 5 way race with only about 37% of the vote. That meant nearly 2 out of 3 Maine voters did not want him as our governor. Something like that shouldn't happen no matter which party a candidate belongs to, and that couldn't happen if we'd had ranked choice voting for our state legislators.

That's why, if you are a loyal Republican you need to get out and vote today or the next thing you know, we'll be having ranked choice voting for our state as well as federal elections !!!

Far more Americans today are concerned about our democracy, and determined to reclaim it, than were even paying attention to it in 2016.

Heather is brilliant but, more than that, DERANGED!

On the antiSwamp side of things? AntiSwamp is, by definition, and at its core, desperately concerned about our democracy.

But, after the J6 Committee Stalinesque Show Trial, the antiSwamp is now more concerned than ever that the Swamp will do everything it has to to destroy our nation "of the people, by the people and for the people."

Do you know how many hundreds of thousands attended Trump rallies in the last month!!!!!?

The antiSwamp, the tens of millions who were standing up for the American Way long before the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys had their little shindig at the Capitol, is absolutely on FIRE!!!!!

It's more motivated now than ever!!!!!

  20. by islander on November 8, 2022 11:57 am

We Republicans, like od and Hate, know that Medicare and Social Security are welfare programs for the elderly!

That's why we have to end those programs. We do not want the government giving old people "our money". Tell the elderly to get off their butts and work for their money just like we do!

    Vote Republican !!

😀 Smiley says, Don't let our country become a welfare state !!!

  21. by Donna on November 8, 2022 12:24 pm

Republicans are noticeably outspending Democrats on ads. Every time I watch something on YouTube I have to sit through a Republican ad. I'm seeing zero Democrat ads on YouTube. TV here in AZ is mostly GOP ads too.

  22. by HatetheSwamp on November 8, 2022 12:42 pm

You're plain wrong, Donna. Here in Pennsylvania last quarter, Fetterman raised over $20,000,000. Oz had to loan his campaign $7 million.

If you're thinking that you can say the deck was stacked against Dems, no thinking person will do anything but laugh at you.

  23. by oldedude on November 8, 2022 2:31 pm
And Medicare isn't "socialized" medicine. It's a welfare "benefit." Big difference.

  24. by islander on November 9, 2022 5:30 am

Medicare is’t welfare or socialized medicine although that’s what Republicans would like people to believe.

It’s an insurance program.

We pay the premiums while we are working and then we pay them monthly after we retire.

It saves most retirees from financial disaster and/or bankruptcy unless they are extremely wealthy.

  25. by HatetheSwamp on November 9, 2022 7:05 am

I'm curious, isle. You don't strike me as a guy who reads GOP position papers. Am I right?

How do you know what GOPs think? Heather's hate spews?

  26. by islander on November 9, 2022 7:35 am

    Of course I do!

I read the Republican's position and listen to what they themselves say just as much (or maybe even a bit more) as my own side's . It's vital to know what and how your opponent thinks.

Although I read them, what I don't do, is expect an unbiased interpretation of the "news" as presented to us by the mainstream media news outlets, nor am I obsessed with the predictions from the "pollsters" which is why I seldom bother quoting them.

I have found that a lot can be learned about the thinking and personalities of the average person on each side by reading the comments sections on the various news articles.

  27. by HatetheSwamp on November 9, 2022 7:55 am

No offense, isle, but you indicate no understanding at all of GOP thinking. What I pick up you is a decent mind that, like Heather's, is paralyzed by rage.

  28. by islander on November 9, 2022 8:14 am

What you say you pick up about my "understanding" is nothing more than a product of your TDS (Trump Dyslexia Syndrome).

  29. by oldedude on November 9, 2022 5:39 pm
And all of that comes from your Christ, heather. Which has no idea what they're talking about.

  30. by islander on November 10, 2022 6:22 am

You forgot to mention, Marcy and Teri !!

  31. by HatetheSwamp on November 10, 2022 6:40 am

You seem to be especially sweet on Heather.

  32. by islander on November 10, 2022 7:11 am

That's because Heather is my neighbor...and...for anyone who thought history was boring, Heather knows how to make it real !
