FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Timothy Thibault is no longer with the bureau, Fox News has learned. Thibault retired over the weekend, according to a source familiar with the matter. He was walked out of the building on Friday, which is standard procedure, per the source.

Thibault was named by Senate Judiciary ranking member Chuck Grassley in a July 18 letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland. Grassley cited whistleblowers who alleged a pattern of political bias from high-ranking officials, including Thibault.

...not the only politically biased FBI agent at the Washington Field Office," Grassley wrote. He added that "the FBI answers to Congress and the American people."

And, gang, this happening with Dems still in the majority on Capitol Hill.

There's still enough integrity among the federales that whistleblowers are willing to speak truth.

pb thinks that, before this is all said and done, we're looking at Watergate 2.0. Before the 024 election, expect key members of that "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" 020 campaign, now in President Clouseau's administration to resign.

pb says that it's 50/50 that the Big Guy will resign.

Lead, Don't you understand there is nothing wrong with how the FBI/ DOJ has been running since Hoover? To say differently is a viscous assault on all police, agents, mom, apple pie, and our way of life! It's the death of our Republic!

I do think it's interesting there are whistle blowers that see this partisan treatment as an affront to their sworn duties. In reality, they are people that are willing to give up their career to whistle blow on their agency. Once they do that, they will never get promoted, get hired by any other agency, and be pushed out by being chickenshtted at every turn.

I wonder where the sheeple will be on this? Are they going to stand up for the ultra-partisan guy, or the one(s) that turned him in? We get lectured about not wanting a former president arrested, and yet this would indicate actual "high crimes and misdemeanors." "The big guy" is there at every turn!

    OD,

When I saw this story and thought about posting it, I immediately began to imagine how Curt would handle it. He's ingenious in creating a "Sunny Side of the Street" take on every form of Swamp incompetence and corruption.

    We'll see.

  3. by oldedude on August 30, 2022 6:01 am
It's not a "crisis to our (sic) "democracy" if Trump is the victim of the wrongful acts. So I'm sure this is no big deal. So this guy is was a GS15, the highest on the GS scale, AND in DC... That makes it a little more suspicious.

  4. by Curt_Anderson on August 30, 2022 9:39 am
So now that roadblock of Timothy Thibault out of the way, the FBI should have slam dunk case against the Bidens soon. Keep us posted!

"So now that roadblock of Timothy Thibault out of the way, the FBI should have slam dunk case against the Bidens soon."
Like I've been saying for a long time. Thibault is only the fall guy for this. He wasn't the only, nor is the top guy that is doing this.

You really think that most Americans give a flying f**k about this case, though?
I think the willful acts of the government have tainted the FBI once again. I think people are watching. Half want him to go to the gallows, half want the FBI to go.

Certainly, your HuffPo, WaPo, Rachel crowd doesn't but it seems likely that "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" is involved in, uh, "predicate activity," Bahahahahahahahahahaha.

And, there will probably have to be a legitimate investigation and, perhaps, an indictment. We'll see if you're as anxious for justice when it's the Swamp King at risk of being charged, eh?, Bahahahahahahahahahaha, ahhhhhhhhhhh.

Interesting, though pb has seen this.

    Are you making a point?

BTW, pb agrees that the investigation of Trump should continue. He still thinks that the J6 Show Trial and the raid on Melania's undies are a travesty.

    Donna,
I looked at the original source which you provided a link to. I take it that "Threats to democracy 21 29" means 21% consider it their #1 issue, and 29% consider it their #2 issue.

Republicans who apologize for (and worse support) the Capitol insurrectionists and the Mar-a-Lago mishandled classified documents scandal are on the wrong side of the threats to democracy issue. Both will be in the news for the next couple of months.

[Hunter Biden would fall under "Some other issue" - Donna]

I didn't notice that the poll placed the Hunter scandal on its list.

If you fed yourself with news and commentary from nonbonkers progressive sources, your knowledge of what GOPs and antiSwampers would not be theoretical.

  16. by oldedude on August 30, 2022 1:59 pm
"Republicans who apologize for (and worse support) the Capitol insurrectionists and the Mar-a-Lago mishandled classified documents scandal are on the wrong side of the threats to democracy issue. Both will be in the news for the next couple of months."

I think that statement alone is incredibly incredulous. 50% of people's are very worried about our Republic being taken over, and you blow it off and are a huge piece of that issue. You're making excuses for everything that is fascist in this country. You wonder why we call you "good little Germans?" It's because you don't have the ability to see that violations of the constitution to us now, will be happening to you later.

Of all the "low-info voters" Donna was talking about, you need to look inward and get out of the herd mentality. Next year, your taxes are going up as a "retiree." If you have a 401 retirement? Every year you have gains, you pay taxes on that.

I have been talking about how crooked FEDERAL agencies are now out of control enough, THAT is an issue. Did you know the Veteran's Administration can call BATFE to no knock/ No warrant your house? This is the same administration that made parents in a school district part of the "Terrorism Watch List." The government can restrict their travel, can no-knock/ no-warrant their house. Think about that. And being a good little NAZI isn't going to help you. You are on the wrong side and you can't even understand it.

One of the things that is real for over 70% of US citizens, is BATFE using the federal firearm application to no-knock/ no-warrant people's houses "just to check." And some states are actually doing this already.

  17. by HatetheSwamp on August 30, 2022 2:22 pm

"Republicans who apologize for (and worse support) the Capitol insurrectionists and the Mar-a-Lago mishandled classified documents...

Apart from a handful of nuts, no one supports the rioters. There was no insurrection. Here on SS, the GOPs were denouncing the riot while it was happening. Progressives here, however, did speak highly of the BLM and Antifa summer of love that wrecked many cities.

My take on the people who are vexed over the mishandled documents, is that they're snowflakes.

  18. by oldedude on August 30, 2022 6:04 pm
Yeah, they did the same thing with Mar a lago. If you disagree with one point, you need to be "reeducated in one of their camps they said they would build in their new world order they believe in.

  19. by Donna on August 31, 2022 6:07 pm
Hts: If you dob't like the survey results I posted, then show me a survey which shows that Hunter Biden is a major issue for Republican voters.

I anxiously await your deflection, non-answer response, or crickets.

  20. by oldedude on August 31, 2022 7:57 pm
It falls under the complete mistrust of the Republic surviving this, and YOUR spirit of the American dream. You're an avowed Liberal World Order person.

  21. by Donna on August 31, 2022 9:44 pm
I doubt that anyone who answered that they were worried about our democracy were thinking about Hunter Biden. Trump cultists were thinking about their baseless contention that the election was stolen from fearless leader, and the rest were thinking about 1/6/21 as well as future plans by Republican secretaries of state to undermine election results at the state level.

Hunter Biden doesn't affect their lives. The only people who care about him are Republican political junkies.

  22. by oldedude on September 1, 2022 5:07 am
Perhaps in your world, that may be true. For conservatives, this is more about DOJ/FBI choosing not to investigate dim wrongdoing again. So. Yet again, this wraps up into "Threats to the Republic."

  23. by Donna on September 1, 2022 7:56 am
How is Hunter Biden a "threat to our republic"?

  24. by HatetheSwamp on September 1, 2022 8:13 am

I think that OD is saying that "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" is under China's thumb, because of Hunter.

  25. by Donna on September 1, 2022 10:23 am

It may play well in the Trump cultist court of public opinion, but... well, read this WaPost piece. There's no paywall on it. It doesn't sound to me like they have much of a case.

    From NBC News:

The statement from Thibault’s lawyer said that the agent was eligible for retirement and told his superiors about a month ago that he intended to leave, “following more than 30 years of devoting himself to the protection of the American people and to upholding the Constitution of the United States in a nonpartisan fashion.” The attorney noted Thibault had spent nearly two decades leading investigations into corruption by members of both political parties, “such as investigations that led to the convictions of [Democratic] Congressmen William Jefferson and Jesse Jackson, Jr.”

  27. by HatetheSwamp on September 1, 2022 11:05 am

The statement from Thibault’s lawyer said...

Are you being disingenuous or naíve?

Lawyers NEVER gild the lily, eh?

  28. by Donna on September 1, 2022 11:17 am

I don't care either way about Thibault. I hadn't heard of him before about an hour ago.

I think most people are going to reason that it isn't unusual for someone to leave a job after 30 years of employment.

  29. by HatetheSwamp on September 1, 2022 11:21 am

Well, except for all the canaries who are singing to Chuck Grassely and other GOP Senators. Or ain't Joy talk about that?

  30. by Donna on September 1, 2022 12:03 pm
    I have no idea.

There's an investigation in process regarding Hunter, but I read that Joe isn't a target. From what I've read, there isn't anything concrete to pin on Joe. Unless there is, most Americans are going to remain part of the Huntergate yawnfest.

  31. by oldedude on September 1, 2022 12:35 pm
Through the computer which the FBI buried, and through admissions of his business partner (which Curt said was almost as good as testimony in court) we do know several things. Pedosr spoke with pedojr multiple times regarding his "business." Pedosr "arranged" for pedojr the ability to buy a pistol (a felony) that the Secret Service had to search through a dumpster to get. We know that China paid pedojr in a diamond. We know that pedosr received a cut of what pedojr made. We know that pedojr illegally funneled money from the wife of the wife of themayor of Moscow, (et al.) a person on our designated lists by Dept of Treasury that does not have access to global banking.

We "know" that? Hunter refers to the "big guy" getting "10%". Maybe that's Joe. That wouldn't surprise me.

I read a lawyer's take on the emails that refer to or seem to refer to Joe, and this person said that unless there are emails from Joe corroborating whatever was said by Hunter, then it's hearsay.

I don't know about the other stuff you mentioned. If they think they have a case, then they're free to pursue that.
