Imagine hiring a commercial moving company to come into the White house and have the moving guys carry boxes of sensitive, classified, top secret documents dealing with our nation's security and our national defense, load them onto a moving truck and then driving away with them !!!

The ones they get are vetted for the government workers SES and above. I know you believe they just pick someone out of the phone book that is someone's cousins brother in law, but that ain't so.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on August 28, 2022 8:10 am

Good deal, isle, just so long as you declassify them. Bahahahahahahahahahaha.

I understand TWO REPUBLICANS AND A TRUCK do a good job for a fair price.

  3. by islander on August 28, 2022 8:36 am

First you don’t know what I think.

I don’t know the answer to the question I asked so perhaps you can you tell me what moving company was used, and did that company and its employees have security clearance to possess, handle, and move classified, top secret material interstate. And is a commercial moving van understood to be a secure location to store classified, top secret material?

  4. by oldedude on August 28, 2022 8:47 am
I don't know and really don't care. I do know that whenever our SES's moved, there were Security specialists there (0080 series). Whenever a person moves and they have a clearance, you either get them at your house, or you sign a waiver and you're responsible. You have no other evidence to say otherwise. You "assume" your pedophile buttie and the FBI always tell the truth. The fact is the top echelon is a kabala of criminals with a singular idea in mind. GET TRUMP AT ANY COST TO THE NATION, OR CONSTITUTION.

So basically, this holds the same water as your accusations have. The "I heard from a "leak" this and that happened. THAT is hearsay. It really is that simple. except yours are much less viable. I know you don't know or understand our law that much, but you're making yourself look silly.

Is a classified document that has been declassified, classified?

    Trump used JK Moving Services.

Donna- Honestly, I don't think Trump (or any other president) has any contact with whatever service it is/was. This is all done through their liaison services. Any President is just told they are coming on "Monday," as a side bar to his schedule of the changeover. The schedulers usually scurry the family out for different things on that day early, get one moved out and the other moved in by the time they can get in. The staff takes care of putting things away, etc. So thanks for that.

  8. by Donna on August 28, 2022 9:24 am
You're welcome. I assumed that DJT himself didn't get involved in the moving arrangements.

  9. by oldedude on August 28, 2022 9:31 am
aahh. no. It's kind of a thing they put out on some of the national news sometimes, and also the local news to give people an idea of the support staff these folks have. Kinda cool though. For the First Lady's Christmas trees, the staff brings everything in after all the tourists are gone, and by 8 am, the whole thing is set up and the First Lady will give a guided tour for one of the local/ national news organization's morning show. It's amazing.

"Is a classified document that has been declassified, classified?"

    The answer is no, and.
If it is declassified. I'm a tad paranoid about it (thusly I've never been into trouble handling it). I would make sure it's cared for. It can't be in a box of "mixed" documents, it can be transported with mixed documents, which is what I would do. If they are declassified to "UNCLASSIFIED" or "CONFIDENTIAL" then yes, you could put them in to the truck and put a seal on it. They actually have transportation services for classified that are government employees from FPS.

  11. by Donna on August 28, 2022 9:52 am

No official documents are permitted to be taken, though, even unclassified ones. Unclassified documents are the kind that We The People are supposed to be able to access through the FOIA. Because they belong to We The People, not DJT, although he stupidly believes otherwise.

    Donna,

I think that the laws and regulations are not perfectly clear.

One of the difficult issues in getting a criminal conviction in matters such as this is proving criminal intent. I think that it will be impossible to prove that Trump intended to do something criminal.

I have no difficulty in stating my opinion that Trump's handling of some of the White House documents is highly questionable. But, is he guilty of a crime? I just can't see him being convicted.

What's going on here is beyond the understanding of people like you and me. We're not lawyers. We're not involved in the federal government.

What I've been doing is looking at what Alan Derschowitz, a liberal law school prof, and Jonathan Turley, a conservative law school professor, have been saying.

They're not expecting a conviction. They're hoping that Garland isn't foolish enough to indict.

isle, and you, too, if you like, can have haters like Teri. But, there's no rationality in the bonkers gang...on either side.

  13. by Donna on August 28, 2022 10:51 am
The laws are perfectly clear about removing and storing official government documents.

To me, it's clear that Trump considered all of those documents "his", even after National Archives, his own lawyers, and the DoJ made it perfectly clear to him that they weren't.

Ignorance of the law doesn't exonerate anyone. If it did, we'd all regularly use it to get out of things like traffic violations.

As Donna said, “The laws are perfectly clear about removing and storing official government documents.”

With regard to Trump’s criminal mishandling of classified documents, the jury doesn’t have to know what Trump subjectively believed in the sense you are thinking it does. That won’t work as a defense for Trump unless he is going to plead innocent by reason of insanity. There is an objective standard of “belief” that is used in cases like this. The government only has to worry about convincing a jury that a reasonable person would consider the material to be classified, and there is more than ample evidence to prove that a reasonable person would, without a doubt, be aware of that.

Trump’s sociopathy won’t count in court unless he is going to try and use it as his defense. I highly doubt Trump’s fragile ego would ever allow him to do that though.

  15. by HatetheSwamp on August 28, 2022 11:41 am

    Donna,

What I know is what I'm hearing, and reading, from legal experts who don't have an ideological iron in the fire.

My sense is that your opinion is rooted in a desire to see Trump suffer and is fed by commentators who hate Trump.

I still think the big story here is the historic overreach of the DOJ, ordering federal officers to search the home of the current president’s chief political rival...even his wife's undies drawer.

  16. by Donna on August 28, 2022 11:43 am
You're allowed to believe ridiculous things, as you often do.

As often as they keep bringing it up, I get the sense from our two resident Trumpsies that if they got the chance...they’d secretly love to peek inside Melania’s underwear draw 😲 Lol !!!

No, we actually think you have sexual fantasies about Melania's nicker collection. Thusly, the chiding (snickersnicker)
