The Republicans are all out of any other options. They are existentially desperate people who are apoplectic to keep their party alive and in power by any means necessary (see the Big Lie and January 6th as a prime example), but they have no real positive things whatsoever to offer the voters. So they must resort to these insulting, immoral and boundlessly dishonest tactics to make out their opponents to be far worse than their massively unsuited candidates demonstrably and undeniably are.

Their policies are sociopathic, selfish, and cruel and are understandably and rationally shunned by a majority of voters. Their ideas only ever really benefit the rich. They NEVER work towards anything that benefits average Americans, let alone the poor and the working class.

Just try to name one single solitary bill that was ever authored by Republicans in the last four decades or so that was solely aimed at helping working class Americans without benefiting the rich many times more. When they are excited about and champion some bill, they always make a big deal out of the pathetic little bones it will throw to us while totally downplaying and denying the whole grocery store the bill actually hands to the wealthy. Helping themselves and the rich is always their prime motivation in anything they do. Without fail.

The reason that Republicans hate democracy so much is that obviously, given the total lack of anything beneficial they have to offer voters in a fair and honest democratic election, if it was left to the voters Republicans would never be elected to any office at all. So knowing they haven't got a snowball's chance in Hell of ever getting elected on their policies, they resort to winning by slandering and demonizing their opponents, finding some loophole to exploit in the election laws, or just outright cheating. And their ever increasing desperation is driving their lies and bullshit propaganda to totally ludicrous and even violent proportions (again, see 1/6).

They are adamantly opposed to and actively work against anything approaching a level playing field, because in such a contest, they know they would always lose. And maybe even worse in their eyes, their hated enemies (minorities and average Americans) would win.

The truly sad thing, and the reason that I believe this country is ultimately doomed, is that so many Americans ravenously swallow their truckloads of horseshit as fast as Fox can shovel it down their gleefully gaping gullets. They vote against their own interests in the quixotic belief that they are saving themselves from a hellish yet imaginary fate far worse than anything the Republicans could ever do to them. "Sticking it to" the Democrats is worth any price they need to pay. They have so totally bought into the flaming, bullshit lies about Democrats and are so terrified of them that quite literally anything to them is a better option. As has been mentioned, this is a timeless tactic of authoritarians.

This also explains why Republicans will support and defend their often blatantly corrupt, criminal and immoral GOP politicians to the death. Because they have to.

They will never admit to any wrong doing by their leaders. Their leaders are considered infallible and blameless of any crime, regardless of any mountains of evidence to the contrary simply because they are not Democrats. That's how their logic is forced to work. They can never admit that their godlike GOP leaders could ever be capable of committing the same level of heinous immorality that they have lied about all Democrats being made entirely out of. That would level the playing field.

Since they are so willing to flat out lie about crimes the Democrats haven't committed, it's no big thing to them to lie about the wanton cavalcade of crimes that their own Republican leaders commit. Evidence, schmevidence. They don't care 'bout no stinking evidence!

I wonder what they will grasp at when they run out of the few straws they have left?

It's always a red letter day when you give us a piece of your mind, po.

  2. by islander on April 28, 2022 2:50 pm

    Well said, Ponderer !!! 👍

I always enjoyed your posts on "the other board" and miss seeing your posts here.

  3. by HatetheSwamp on April 29, 2022 7:52 am

    po,

A theme we've revisited numerous times lately is that, as intellectually and morally bankrupt as the GOP, especially Trump, is, people will choose them (him) over your side.

  4. by islander on April 29, 2022 8:48 am

You’ re correct that a certain kind of person will choose a corrupt, intellectually and morally bankrupt person, over a more intelligent person with higher moral standards.

We progressives recognize this. What we have been doing is to try and reach those who choose the less intelligent person with little or no moral standards and try to get them to understand why it is in their own and our countries best interest to support them.

The hardest part is getting past their cynicism and their often times unwarranted feelings of inferiority when they see an intelligent and decent person. For many those feelings of loathing for that person are the result of them having been convinced that the intelligent and decent person “thinks” he or she is superior to them. They will usually support an immoral bully if they believe the bully can knock the intelligent person off the imaginary pedestal that they think he or she is standing on, and then that person will ‘know’ he or she is no better than them.

  5. by islander on April 29, 2022 9:16 am
Edit to the above comment... "why it is in their own and our countries best interest to support the [more moral and intelligent candidate].

  6. by Ponderer on April 29, 2022 4:20 pm

    Thanks, Isle.

Even Hate attests, referring to his "theme" above, to how perfectly willing a great many voters are to being absolutely impervious to truth and reality when it comes to rationally and intelligently choosing a candidate. He sees it. He knows it. He's around it a lot. And much as he suggests, they will choose (without blinking an eye or employing the slightest shred of rational, intelligent, self-preserving consideration) a morally corrupt and criminal sociopath over anyone belonging to the ludicrously asinine and outlandish caricature of a demon convention that Republican bullshit has baselessly made the Democratic party out to be. They have fully given themselves over to believing lies. To living in a fantasy. To being terrified of imaginary goblins and hallucinatory dungeons that await them if they dare to ever think otherwise.

Sadly, the vast and seemingly increasing numbers of such willfully pig-ignorant and gullible chumps that Hate refers to are stark testament to just how well the Republicans' Slime and Lie Machine© works. And to how wildly gullible its victims are.

Simply put, the GOP uses it as their very foundation for two reasons:

    A. They've got absolutely nothing of any real value to average Americans whatsoever to attract voters with.

    B. It works.

So they aren't about to give up a winning strategy that's their only hope of ever getting elected to anything. We'll never get the GOP to accept the rule of law or to ever live up to the oaths they swore to our Constitution if it doesn't suit them to. They've given up on all that liberal Constitutional hogwash.

And we will never lessen the numbers of Hate's pack of mindless lemmings in our society. My god they breed like freaking rabbits.

Unfortunately for human civilization, such people have existed in varying proportions in every society throughout all of human history. Think how many millennia farther ahead human civilization could be right now if it weren't for such people holding civilization back throughout the ages.

As for here, the overly generous portion of these people we've been cursed with are a huge part of my reasoning why I believe this country is not long for the world. At least, the United States of America isn't. What's left when these moronic imbeciles and the Republican Party they support get through with it may well still technically be a "country", but it won't be the U.S.A. anymore.

Yes, I believe this great experiment known as the United States of America is doomed. And much sooner than you might expect.

It's just a matter of time.

Eventually, a Trump or a Republican far more intelligent than and just as corrupt and criminal as he ever was will get into power. The GOP will eventually control Congress again, and the courts. They will then implement their Final Solution. It'll be then or never. They'll be shocked... shocked to have to declare democracy in this country to be hopelessly wrecked because there were races that they actually lost. They'll put the final nails into the coffin of our republic. They'll do it declaring they are saving it the whole time.

And they will all be posing and smiling for the Fox cameras the whole time. Proud as can be. Like destroying America was the best thing they ever did.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on April 29, 2022 4:30 pm

    po,

You're certainly not less nasty for your time away.

My sense of why polls point to a coming crimson wave is that, as little as GOPs appeal, your side is pathetic.

  8. by Curt_Anderson on April 29, 2022 4:59 pm
    HtS,
Ponderer is not nasty. Unlike you, Ponderer doesn't obsessively refer to elected leaders in scatological terms and faux medical diagnoses.

  9. by Ponderer on April 29, 2022 5:07 pm

I won't even bother asking you to explain what you are talking about, Hate. You'd just respond with lies. Ones you swallowed and were duped into believing and retelling, or ones you're telling on purpose.

And yeah, I get a bit nasty when my country is under an organized, existential assault by a mob of immoral, America-hating, Republican thugs and their legions of deranged, willful idiot minions.

    Please forgive me.

  10. by Ponderer on April 29, 2022 5:09 pm

Isn't it interesting how conservatives like Hate see simple statements of demonstrable truth as "nasty" when it's the truth about them?

  11. by HatetheSwamp on April 29, 2022 5:10 pm

    Curt,

...Ponderer doesn't obsessively refer to elected leaders in scatological terms..

Since it's po, you're EFFIN kidding me! Remember when OrangeMan was President?

Remember how respectfully po referred to him?

Bahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahaha hoohoohoohoohoohoohoo heeheeheeheeheeheehee hahahahahahahahaha hoohoohoohoohoohoohoo heeheeheeheeheeheehee hahahahahahahahaha hoohoohoohoohoohoohoo heeheeheeheeheeheehee hahahahahahahahaha ahhhhhhhhhhh.

  12. by Curt_Anderson on April 29, 2022 5:18 pm
    HtS,
Why is it that your side quickly resorts to whataboutism? I know it's because you don't have a better defense. But still, you'd think that you guys might occasionally make a fact-based, logical case.

But no, to your question, I don't recall Ponderer obsessively using scatological and medical terms.

  13. by Curt_Anderson on April 29, 2022 5:34 pm
    Ponderer,
"I never did give anybody hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell." --Harry S Truman

  14. by HatetheSwamp on April 30, 2022 5:07 am

I don't recall Ponderer obsessively using scatological and medical terms.

I'm not surprised. That fits you. This is, as I experience it, key to your subjectivity.

This is a 100% bahahahahahahahahahaha moment for me. Your childlike acceptance of the world as you'd like it to be is world-class.

Joe's not in midst of cognitive decline. It's brilliant politics to call a prospective voter at a townhall, "A lying dog face pony soldier." It's perfect diplomacy for him to have busted the eardrums of the Duchess of Cornwall with sonic boom flatulence. It's understandable that he continues to tell people that he used to drive a truck.

And, all the ways po insulted OrangeMan by playing games with his name? Nuthin to it.

What I enjoy most about po is po's creativity. po makes a point using language artistically like no one who has ever posted here. And, you've never seen that.

po absolutely abused Trump simply by referring to him. For four effin years!

And, bless your heart, all of that went over your head. You are claiming, at least, to have missed it entirely! Poor you. But in your hate of Trump, all of her brilliance was just normal, everyday language. Sad.

po's games with Trump’s name serve as the basis of my description of the Flatulent Fool. I'd never even have thought about fiddling around with the ways I might refer to the Roaring Bear from Delaware had I not observed po's brilliant treatment of OrangeMan.

You're telling us that you missed four years of the brilliance of Pondy.

Sad for you that your own TDS caused you to miss out on perhaps the greatest artistry of SS.

So, yeah. po's brilliance in using scatological language to dis Trump defined SS for me for four years. It defines my response to the Doddering Old Fool.

  15. by islander on April 30, 2022 6:32 am

Wow !!! You just gave a stunningly accurate description of yourself Hate !!!

This is an excellent example of transference or projection, that is when a person projects their own character traits and behavior onto someone else ! It appears to me that you know yourself better than I thought.

I wonder if this has anything to do with why you refer to yourself in the third person? It’s somebody else, not you, who says and does the things you do?

  16. by HatetheSwamp on April 30, 2022 6:46 am

    isle,

    Oy.

I think we're having a moment here. You really think my doodlings over my descriptions of the Doddering Old Fart are "the greatest artistry of SS."

I'm shocked. Stunned, blessed and shocked!

All I can say is, well, uh, "Thanks, buddy."

  17. by islander on April 30, 2022 7:26 am
    You're welcome !!

Your brilliance in using scatological language to dis Biden is unmatched !!

And Your childlike acceptance of the world as you'd like it to be is world-class.

  18. by HatetheSwamp on April 30, 2022 8:01 am

Your brilliance in using scatological language to dis Biden is unmatched !!

    Aw, go on.

It's a shame that po's OrangeMan posts from the old forum are lost forever.

Years ago, po and I exchanged a handful of posts prompted when I noted the uncommon words po includes while posting.

po splained about taking special care in creating SS posts. I do, too, since then, but your faint, fatuous praise aside, I ain't po. I can't hold a candle...

I do think it's stunning that Curt is so overwhelmed by TDS that he, at least claims, never to have noticed.

It's sort of like someone hearing Beethoven's FIFTH, and thinking, "Hmmm. That's humable."

Sorry for you, po! All that blood and sweat-filled genius and they didn't notice.

Well, pb absolutely did see it and appreciated it for its artistic flair. pb, however poorly, emulates it...

    ...in tribute.

  19. by islander on April 30, 2022 5:07 pm

    Ahhh yes of course !!!

    It's not your fault, it's somebody else's fault !!

It's Ponderers fault that you use such scatological language to dis Biden. And Ponderer is to blame for your childlike acceptance of the world as you'd like it to be, and all this time I thought it was due to your belief that truth is subjectivity !!! 🙄

  20. by HatetheSwamp on May 1, 2022 4:34 am

    Pondy's fault!!!!!?

When there's a SS Hall of Fame, po should be the first inductee.

As insane as po's opinions are, she enlivens the board every time she invests her subjectivity into it.

I could never be the poster I am today with po's example. You should thank po daily.

  21. by HatetheSwamp on May 1, 2022 4:37 am

That should have been withOUT po's example.

    po da bomb!

  22. by islander on May 1, 2022 1:54 pm
'I could never be the poster I am today with[out] po's example. You should thank po daily."

Ponderer's writing skills and descriptions are every bit as brilliant and unmatched as you say they are! The biggest difference between your writing and Ponderer's is that what Ponderer writes is the truth, It's deception free...Yours, not so much.

  23. by Curt_Anderson on May 1, 2022 2:21 pm
Ponderer also changes up her denigrating adjectives for the sake of variety.

  24. by HatetheSwamp on May 2, 2022 4:50 am

    Curt,

    "po da bomb." ~pb

I would never claim to match po's gift, only to emulate it.

I am glad that, by now, you remember that po did, regularly, decapitate OrangeMan, metaphorically, of course, "in scatological terms." That you forgot it speaks volumes.

  25. by Curt_Anderson on May 2, 2022 9:03 am
    HtS,
    I said that I didn't recall Ponderer <<
obsessively referring to Trump and scatological terms. In fact I'm quite sure she didn't. I don't know and don't remember if she EVER referred in scatological terms.

I am willing to take Ponderer's word for it if she ever and how often referred to Trump and scatological terms.

  26. by ProgsAreNotProg on May 21, 2022 4:55 pm

Yes, calling them "deplorables" and any number of other hateful slurs, attempting to bar them from any type of mainstream online posting, and violently assaulting them in the street is the perfect way to get them to your side.

Have fun getting booted out of American politics this midterm, and never seeing power again.
