After being un-ceremonially fired by Trump and escorted off the White House property for telling the truth, it looks like retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman will be vindicated !!!

"Vindman’s opening statement before Congress recalled the American dream. He explained that his father, who had brought Vindman from Ukraine when three, was afraid to have his son testify against the president. Vindman assured him it would be okay. “Do not worry, I will be fine for telling the truth,” Vindman said he told his father, “because this is America, this is the country I have served and defended, that all of my brothers have served, and here, right matters.” *

* Another excellent Letter From an American . A must read !!!

As always, isle, thanks for posting this.

I've often observed that po would be the first person on SS to join a lynch mob. If that happened, clearly, po and Heather would be together at the front of the mob. It concerns me for you that you feed on this virulent, misinformed hate.

Re Heather's: "At his rally in Conroe, Texas, on Saturday, Trump promised to pardon the insurrectionists if he is reelected..."

Note the link to The Today Show, which is fair enough to report the truth concerning what Trump did say about pardons.

    Heather is such a liar.

As you know, I despise Trump. I think he's despicable. I guess that makes it easier for me to discern TDS.

What Trump really did say is disturbing. That people like Heather need to lie about it...and you seem to need to blindly follow her...is the stuff of derangement.

”Heather is such a liar.” ---Hate

LoL !!! Heather sure knows how to hit a nerve with you doesn’t she ! You’d make a good lawyer for a mob boss !

Mob boss: “Listen closely Sammy, “You have a family and we know where you live. You’re not going to testify against me, are you?”

You’d swear that the boss never threatened Sammy or his family and he was just asking Sammy if he was going to testify against him !

And Trump never said he’s pardon any insurrectionists...only if they were treated unfairly...and who gets to decide that “Trump” !!!

    I particularly liked this comment to Heather by a reader;

“What I key in on with humility, is that Vindman, an immigrant, is undertaking the moral journey of holding trump-verse accountable. And America. He knows we can do better, and he’s willing to stay in the ring to push us to do exactly that. I see this as a showdown of American Values in the most basic terms. Vindman is “We The People”.

    HtS,
How is the statement by Heather Cox Richardson, untrue?

She wrote: "At his rally in Conroe, Texas, on Saturday, Trump promised to pardon the insurrectionists if he is reelected"

Trump dangles prospect of pardons for Jan. 6 defendants
(ABC13, Houston TX)"If I run and if I win, we will treat those people from January 6th fairly," Trump said Saturday night during a rally in Conroe, Texas. "And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons because they are being treated so unfairly."

    abc13.com

  4. by islander on February 3, 2022 4:24 pm

Trump said that if the insurrectionists were treated unfairly he would pardon them, he then continued on to say they were treated unfairly, in fact he said they were treated "so unfairly"!

In Hate's world , where his own subjectivity is truth, it doesn’t matter that Trump himself said he would pardon the insurrectionists, and when Heather said Trump said he would pardon them, she lied.
I think we all know that Trump and Hate live in their own distorted world where truth has no real meaning.

  5. by HatetheSwamp on February 4, 2022 6:19 am

    "And if it requires pardons,.."

    Notice the conditional, "If."

This is precisely what I mean about my ability to spot TDS.

    I despise Trump. I think he's despicable.

And, I'm psychologically untarnished enough to be appalled by what Trump really said. I don't have to hyperbolize.

It's the seeming need of Blue MAGA progressives like yourself, and in the nonFox SwampMedia, that makes OrangeMan's groupees so irrationally devoted to him. They are the antimatter to your matter.

    So, thanks a lot.

  6. by islander on February 4, 2022 7:21 am

You obviously didn’t watch the whole video, Hate. Watch it again and listen carefully this time. Trump said he would pardon them if they were being treated unfairly, and this is the part you missed...Trump said and I quote, “And they are being treated so unfairly”...

Here’s what Heather wrote and it’s true. She is not a liar like you called her...

“At his rally in Conroe, Texas, on Saturday, Trump promised to pardon the insurrectionists if he is reelected, and today Tara Palmeri of Politico reported that Trump had considered blanket pardons of the rioters, asking advisors if he had the power and if it was a good idea. Belying the idea floated by right-wing media that the rioters were “antifa,” he asked, “Is it everybody that had a Trump sign or everybody who walked into the Capitol,” who could be pardoned. Trump also wanted to announce that he was running in 2024 even before Biden’s inauguration, hoping to frame any future prosecutions as being politically motivated."

Trump indeed promised to pardon them “if” he were re-elected and “if” they are being treated unfairly. They are indeed being treated unfairly (according to Trump) therefore, if he is true to his words he will pardon them.

Not only was Trump being dishonest when he said they are being treated unfairly, but dangling the promise of a pardon during an investigation is in my mind clearly a case of witness tampering.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on February 4, 2022 7:37 am

Clearly, isle, intellectually, you're capable of grasping Trump's words. Heck, the Jr. Hi redneck drop outs who attended the rally understand.

If you could just set your hate aside and exegete the words.

What Trump promised was to pardon the people who were being treated unfairly...if a pardon is required.

That's not what Heather, and other Trumpaphobes, such as yourself, claim.

As I said, I'm reasonable enough to be concerned by what Trump actually said. I don't need to create hyperbolic lies about it.

Wow, isle, you're taking this to a place we've not gone before.

If you can link to information suggesting that some of the January 6 protestors may be able to link Trump to the mostly peacefulgathering, please provide the link. Seriously.

Previously, we've linked to rioters saying that they were frustrated because all Trump would do is talk and they took it on themselves to actually DO something.

    But, if have something...

You keep drifting off point Hate. Try to stay ON POINT. But here is one example of what you asked for. They were convinced they were following Trump's orders to stop the vote count...and that was exactly what Trump had been trying to do all along. Are you really that ignorant as to what Trump wanted to accomplish?

"A Texas man charged with invading the Capitol and threatening Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Monday that he was effectively following then-President Donald Trump’s orders when he joined a mob that stormed Congress on Jan. 6.

Garret Miller also apologized to Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., for writing “Assassinate AOC” in a Twitter post. He said he would be willing to testify to Congress or in a trial about the riot.

Miller said he had been motivated by Trump’s false claims about having been cheated out of reelection by ballot fraud and said, “I am ashamed of my comments.”

"I was in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, because I believed I was following the instructions of former President Trump and he was my president and the commander-in-chief. His statements also had me believing the election was stolen from him,” Miller said."

In addition to all the insurrectionists who said the were following Trump's instructions, as islander noted, Trump's current reaction is a tell.

He is appatently worried or upset that Stewart Rhodes, the Oath Keepers leader, was called to testify before the January 6th congressional committee. An innocent person with nothing to hide would not be compelled to complain or comment.

Jan. 6 defendant asks to subpoena Trump as trial witness
(The Hill)A defendant who faces multiple charges connected to the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the Capitol is asking to subpoena former President Trump, among others, as a trial witness.

“Defendant submits that the testimony of Mr. Trump and his conspirators will establish that they were determined, by any means necessary, to prevent Congress from fulfilling its constitutional mandate to certify the election results,” the court filings said. “In order to accomplish that goal, the conspirators Defendant now seeks to subpoena engaged in a concerted effort to organize, encourage, and direct rally participants to storm the Capitol, enter the grounds, ‘fight like hell,’ and ‘engage in trial by combat.”

    isle,

Please note that I'm not being sanctimonious. Were I po, I'd tell you that you are an idiot for this. What you and I both are is enmeshed with our subjectivity.

"A Texas man charged with invading the Capitol and threatening Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Monday that he was effectively following then-President Donald Trump’s orders when he joined a mob that stormed Congress on Jan. 6.

    Right on.

I have no doubt that this man is being perfectly honest and sincere.

You will recall, I'm sure, that the disciples of Charles Manson honestly and sincerely believed that they were "effectively following" the Beatles' orders in their song, HELTER SKELTER, to commit murder and create mayhem.

Curiously, Ringo Starr was never charged. Bahahahahahahahahahaha!

What insane people honestly believe about Trump doesn't implicate Trump or make him guilty.

I, an admitted sufferer of BDS, can say that your own TDS is showing. po would say that you're an idiot. I'll say that you, certainly, not this stupid.

On a related point. Trump spoke, at his rally, about unfair treatment of the rioters of January 6, and here is a case in point. Clearly this guy is a fry short of a Happy Meal. If his impaired mental state is not considered in the way he's treated by the court, Trump would be justified in doing something on his behalf.

(The Hill)A defendant who faces multiple charges connected to the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the Capitol is asking to subpoena former President Trump, among others, as a trial witness.

So, what remains for you is the deluded ravings of the unbalanced.

I saw Trump's speech on January 6. You've had more than a year to watch it. Take a breath. Set derangement aside if you can. Show me Trump calling for a riot.

  15. by islander on February 6, 2022 6:02 am

I saw it all unfold, Hate, right up to and including the insurrection on Jan 6th. You’ve either blocked out most of Trump's ravings and lies that led to the insurrection or it’s a simple case of willful ignorance on your part.

  16. by HatetheSwamp on February 6, 2022 9:38 am

My guess is that you'll go to your death, isle, believing that Trump was spared through a conspiracy.

The text of Trump's January 6 speech is available through NPR. I'm familiar with the practice of debating texts. Cite the words that incite insurrection. I can't find them but you strike me as a man with a very vivid imagination. Show me what you see.

  17. by Curt_Anderson on February 6, 2022 10:02 am
“Let’s call this that it is. January 6th was a riot, that was incited by Donald Trump, in an effort to intimidate Mike Pence and the Congress into doing exactly what he said in his own words last week: overturn the election.” --Chris Christie on ABC's This Week, today.

  18. by HatetheSwamp on February 6, 2022 10:18 am

Wow, Curt! YOU agreeing with and quoting Chris effin Christie. When was the last time that happened!!!!!?

Christie's an interesting story. He seems to be positioning himself to lead an anti OrangeMan movement among the GOPs. Months ago he made the rounds of FOX shows preaching that gospel.

Of course, for that to amount to anything, Trump's going to have to be nailed for January 6.

As time goes by, that seems increasingly unlikely. Just as Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, who were just censured by the RNC for their efforts to nail Trump for January 6.

I'd drop your new best friend, Chris, there, Curt.

  19. by Curt_Anderson on February 6, 2022 10:31 am
The stated goal and purpose of the January 6th committee is to determine how and why it happened and what needs to be done to prevent similar future attacks on the Caoitol and our elections.

You seem to be very worried that Trump was involved.

  20. by HatetheSwamp on February 7, 2022 8:02 am

    Curt,

If Pelosi had allowed the GOP to include its own members to the Committee, I'd trust it. She didn't. I don't.

It's the Dems attempt at a hatchet job. Period.

  21. by islander on February 8, 2022 4:41 pm

Pelosi DID allow the GOP to include its own members to the Committee!

  22. by HatetheSwamp on February 10, 2022 5:12 am

House Republicans balked at participating in the House committee that's investigating the January 6 insurrection on Wednesday after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected two of the five Republicans House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy had tapped for the panel.

This Commission is the stuff of a Banana Republic.

    cnn.com

  23. by islander on February 10, 2022 5:27 am

There is a difference between “not allowed” to participate and voluntarily “refusing to participate”

So you see, Hate, my statement was true and your claim that Pelosi didn’t allow Republicans on the committee was a lie.

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected two of the five Republicans House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy had tapped for the panel."

  25. by islander on February 10, 2022 6:18 am

There are 8 members on the committee one of whom is a Republican. Pelosi rejected 2 of the five McCarthy picks which means she would have allowed three making a total of four Republicans.

So, as you can see, your claim that Pelosi would not allow Republicans on the
    committee is false.

  26. by HatetheSwamp on February 10, 2022 7:01 am

So, as you can see, your claim that Pelosi would not allow Republicans on the

I never claimed that Pelosi wouldn't allow GOPs on the Commission.

The fact that Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are in trouble with the GOPs makes that evident.

What is true is that she didn't allow the GOPs to appoint their own members.

This is where po would tell you that you're an idiot. It's where I say that you are not that stupid and I don't think you're lying...

    So?

Pelosi approved the three Republicans but McCarthy rescinded them.

    committee is false.
