NFL fan who can't wait for the regular season to start? Why not get behind a CFL team? This 13-question selector will help you pick the right one to help you fill the void until September. Disclaimer.

1. Do you want a team from a large metropolis?

I�d love a team that�s in one of Canada�s largest and most cosmopolitan cities (over 2 million people).

I don�t need a team from a huge city, but I�d like one from a big city with lots of people, activity, and public transit options (1-2 million people).

I�m a fan of the underdog. Give me a team in a smaller, more underappreciated city (less than 1 million people).

2. Are you ok with your team sharing a market with an NHL team?

Absolutely. I know hockey is #1 in Canada, so I�m perfectly fine with my CFL team playing second-fiddle in their city.

It�d be great having a team that�s a big fish in their city and gets the top headlines on the sports pages.

3. How do you feel about your team being publicly-owned?

I would love a team that�s owned by the fans and not some millionaire or corporation.

I don�t care who owns the team as long as they put a winning product on the field.

4. How important is it that your team has had recent success?

The last thing I want is to suffer year after year without winning a Grey Cup. Give me a team that�s won a title in the past 10 years.

You don�t know how much it means to win a championship until you�ve suffered long-term heartbreak. Give me a team that hasn�t won a Grey Cup since the 90s and will appreciate it that much more when they finally win it all.

5. Do you want a team that is known for winning championships?

Absolutely. I want a team that has a long history of winning titles (more than 10 Grey Cups).

I don�t want a juggernaut, but at least give me a team that wins a championship now-and-then (6-8 Grey Cups).

Anyone can support a regular winner. Being a fan is more special when your team doesn�t win all the time. Give me a team that doesn�t have a long history of championships (fewer than 6 Grey Cups).

This is the CFL, not the NFL. Having an NFL connection isn�t that important to me.

7. Would you like the opportunity to take rail transit to the game?

Definitely. Taking the train to the game with my fellow fans gets me pumped. Plus I don�t have to pay for parking.

Nah. Car/taxi/Uber/Lyft/etc. works perfectly fine for me.

8. What do you value more: an older stadium with lots of history or a more modern venue?

Being in an older stadium makes me feel like I�m a part of history and that�s part of the experience. I�m willing to sacrifice comfort and amenities for a stadium over 100 years old, even if it�s been renovated a few times.

Lots of amenities and a comfortable environment help enhance my experience. I�d love a newer, more modern stadium that�s been built in the past 10 years or so.

I don�t need the creature comforts of a modern stadium, but also don�t need the historic connection that comes from a century-old venue. Just give me a stadium built for football that�s been updated a few times.

9. In terms of stadiums, does size matter?

Just as in all things, it does. I want a team that plays in a huge stadium that�s rocking when it�s full, even at the potential expense of good views (over 50,000 seats).

I want a great game day experience, but one where every seat is still a good seat. Give me a team that plays in a more moderately-sized stadium (around 35,000 seats).

I�ll gladly take a smaller stadium that�s more likely to sell out, even if it doesn�t get as loud as a bigger venue. Give me a smaller stadium with a more intimate game day experience and where great seats abound (around 25,000 seats).

10. Is it important that your team consistently sells out the stadium (or comes close)?

Of course, the best atmosphere for any sporting event is when every seat is taken and the fans are making noise. Real fans go to the games, and there�s no better sign of a great fan base than one that shows up every time.

At the expense of sell-outs, I get more affordable tickets, better seats, more space, and shorter lines. Besides, it�s about the quality of fans, not the quantity. As long as the fans are into the game, I�m fine with my team not consistently selling out their stadium.

11. Would you like your team�s stadium surrounded by lots of great bars and restaurants for pre-game and post-game socializing?

Part of the game day experience is going out and celebrating before and after the game. I definitely want a team where the fans stick around and have a few beers.

I�m all about the game and can go anywhere for food and beer. My team playing in a lively neighborhood is fine, but not a must.

A football player should be an animal and so should their team nickname. The more vicious animal name, the better.
