People who say they are voting for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are probably low-information voters.

During our walk this morning my friend, who keeps up on Israeli politics, blamed Netanyahu for the Hamas attacks.

He gave two reasons:
1. Netanyahu has been attempting emasculate their supreme court so they cannot overturn rightwing laws the conservatives concoct. This has prompted strikes by every corner of society, including military reservists.
2. Netanuyahu has been tolerant even encouraging of "settlers" who are encroaching on Palestinian land. My friend says these settlers are mostly evangelical Jews from New York.

#1 makes Israel vulnerable, that makes the timing good for Hamas. #2 antagonizes Palestinians.

TWO opportunities to post this in ONE day? You guys are being too nice to me.

They couldn't have picked a better time from their perspective. That government is a shambles right now.

  3. by oldedude on October 10, 2023 12:46 pm
So Hamas and PLO fell for it. Right now, Bibi could want a law to introduce napalm and get it passed and accepted by the people.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on October 10, 2023 1:08 pm

Yeah, OD, Hamas may have saved bibi's political life.

I agree 100% with your friends, Curt.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on October 11, 2023 9:26 am

    Donna,

Do you think the gang rape of civilian women, the murder of the elderly, the beheading of dozens of infants is an appropriate response to this unease over matters of policy?

  7. by Curt_Anderson on October 11, 2023 9:39 am
    HtS,
Since you posed the question I assume you think the gang rape of civilian women, the murder of the elderly, the beheading of dozens of infants is an appropriate response to this unease over matters of policy. At the bare minimum you think it is worthy of discussion.

    I disagree with you.

  8. by HatetheSwamp on October 11, 2023 10:07 am

    Huh

  9. by Ponderer on October 11, 2023 10:53 am

You see, Curt. Hate is so blitheringly stupid enough to believe that Donna could ever possibly be in favor gang rape or murder or beheading that he thought that asking her if she was was a rational thing to ask.

What the heck is an "evangelical Jew"?

What the heck is an "evangelical Jew"? ---georges

I believe my friend was referring to "Messianic Jews" although I didn't press him on his definition other than to confirm that he meant settlers who believe in apocalyptic prophecies. Especially the prophecy many adhere to that the second coming of Christ cannot happen without the return of diaspora Jews to the Holy Land.

Ok. I don't know but I'd be surprised if there are even enough Messianic Jews (Jewish Christians) to make up the number of Israeli settlers.

  13. by georges on October 11, 2023 11:05 pm
And it's definitely not just Jewish Christians who believe in apocalyptic prophecies as the Temple Institute is Jewish and has recently gone on record inviting Christians to worship all Jews instead of just one.

But it was curt (and isle jumped in a lot) that had a whole thread on "tacit agreement" and pointed out that if we said nothing against trumpster, then we were adamantly SUPPORTING trumpster. Ergo, this is true also. Ya can't ride two horses with one ass, chickiebabe (thank you Earl Smooter).

Ya can't ride two horses with one ass, chickiebabe...

Yet, still, after all these years, po continues to give it the ol College Try.

I'm wondering why po's posting so insanely these past few days. Could it be that a significant portion of po's raison d'etre is connected to hatred of Jews or, at the very least, Israel.

Until a few days ago I wouldn't have thought that possible, but, based on the last few days...
