The two-day poll, which closed on Wednesday, showed only 41% of respondents agreed with a statement that Washington "should provide weapons to Ukraine," compared to 35% who disagreed and the rest unsure.

Support for U.S. weapon shipments is down from May, when a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed 46% of Americans backed sending arms, while 29% were opposed and the rest unsure.

Some 52% of Democrats backed arming Ukraine in the most recent poll, down from 61% in May. Among Republicans, support for sending weapons to Kyiv fell to 35% from 39% in May.

Some 34% of Democrats in the poll agreed with a statement that Ukraine's problems "are none of our business and we should not interfere," compared to 56% of Republicans.

Gang,

pb's more hawkish on Ukraine than almost anyone...

...but, bubbas! It's time for you sheeple, you possessors of the woke, white electric limousine lovin SwampBlue hivemind to wake up.

Vladimir Zelensky ain't Gandhi 2.0...he's absolutely doing exactly what he'd been doing were he setting himself up as President for Life. He hates individual liberty and America is waking up to the truth.

Here's a sort of prediction. The kind of forecast you get from the 6:00 News "meteorologist" on channel 69:

COME ELECTION DAY 024, "THAT FECKLESS DEMENTIA-RIDDEN PIECE OF CRAP'S" UKRAINE POLICY HAS A 60% CHANCE OF BRINGING HIM DOWN...

...the Dem cheating notwithstanding.

"he's absolutely doing exactly what he'd been doing were he setting himself up as President for Life. He hates individual liberty and America is waking up to the truth." -Hate

Where thefuck did you get that blithering nonsense? It wasn't anywhere in your link. Did Steve Bannon tell you that?

Seriously, Bill. Who's feeding you this propaganda?

  2. by HatetheSwamp on October 6, 2023 6:48 am

    po,

Do you even know that Zelensky canceled the coming Ukraine election?

Ari didn't tell you that, eh!!!!!?

Remember. pb was more supportive of Ukraine than you...even before Russian troops crossed the border. He can support Ukraine, and oppose Russian imperialism, without joining the Zelensky cult, as you have.

Practically speaking?, support for Ukraine in the US is declining exponentially. And, it's hiveminders exactly like you who are the reason.

  3. by oldedude on October 6, 2023 6:48 am
Where thefuck did you get that blithering nonsense? It wasn't anywhere in your link. Did Steve Bannon tell you that?

    Because it's common?

I personally don't think so, and it's a wait and see. In 5 years, he may be in an "accidental" car crash still as the president, and getting ready for being the president for life. Stranger things have happened.

And this is a takeoff of him cancelling the last elections. Not the smartest move, but absolutely not the dumbest move I've ever see for a country that's being invaded. This is where home turf is a disadvantage. The possibilities of mass casualty attacks on polling places are enormous. It would be a great place to start the chemical warfare design from the Russian side.

  4. by Ponderer on October 6, 2023 6:57 am

"Do you even know that Zelensky canceled the coming Ukraine election?" -Hate

Yes I did. Curt already explained it to you why such a thing would be necessary.

Again.... Who's feeding you this propaganda?

  5. by HatetheSwamp on October 6, 2023 6:58 am

    Necessary!!!!!?

I also said that I see a takeover as a possibility. I'm not ruling that out.

  8. by Indy! on October 6, 2023 11:28 am

Zelensky is the Ukrainian version of Trump. I would say it's shocking so many people bought into this low rent con man, but that's our country today - prime targets for MIC propaganda.

Here's a graphic I made where (with the help of Moe Howard) I explain it all perfectly...

  11. by Indy! on October 6, 2023 12:25 pm

Thanks Curt. I bet half the people in the US don't know Zelensky was formerly a low rent stand-up "comedian" (using the term lightly). It's like electing Soupy Sales or Flip Wilson and hoping they could hold off a Russian invasion.

    Oh. I see.

  13. by Curt_Anderson on October 6, 2023 12:35 pm
It's probably true that most Americans don't know a thing about Zelensky's past professional life or that of any foreign leader. I doubt most Americans know that Canada's Trudeau was a teacher for example.

Zelensky starred in a pretty funny and well produced show called "Servant of the People". It's on Hulu or Netflix or one of those streaming services. Later life imitated art. I don't think he is the evil wannabe dictator that you and HtS seem to believe he is. I believe Zelensky is a patriot committed to democracy. For Ukraine to have a democracy, it has to survive first.

I know for sure that Putin is not committed to democracy and has no compunctions about killing civilians.

  14. by Ponderer on October 6, 2023 12:39 pm

    Right, Curt.

You know, speaking of Putin, I wonder why anyone would think that letting him invade and eradicate the country of Ukraine would be preferable to arming the Ukrainians to fend him off themselves?

  15. by HatetheSwamp on October 6, 2023 12:43 pm

    Curt,

I'm certain that the reasons that support for Ukraine is declining are many and complex.

The truth remains that it's increasingly likely that, by election 024, Joe's handling of the Ukraine issue will decrease his chance of reelection.

Will Zelensky assume the position of dictator? It's not as unlikely to me as it is to you...by a looooooooong shot.

  16. by Indy! on October 6, 2023 8:17 pm

Did I say Zelensky was evil? I said he was corrupt and a con man.

Oh - and a coke head. Forgot about that one. 😘

  17. by oldedude on October 6, 2023 8:44 pm
So again, you support cokeheads. Got it. fukkingscum. (you started. I haven't even began). you're giving "dickkisses" to cokeheads. Gotit.

  18. by oldedude on October 6, 2023 9:42 pm
Here, the point is on a regional conflict that masses to a global level. This could go to MAD, or not. It depends what our world leaders decide. Our "opinions" don't matter worth a fuk. They don't listen anyway.

Indy believes in Kumbaya. Got it. we just need to understand it.

Curt is illiterate in nuance. So that an issue he doesn't understand how a "non-response" is a "response."

Honestly, if Russia applies their rules of land warfare, chemical warfare is the best we can hope for.

The scenario is that 9(% of people in a city will die in the first strikes. That will catch the Ukrainians off guard (as it usually does with the Russians). That's what we have to work with from day 1.

The question is: is NATO brought in as a unique force to protect itself? I don't know the answer to that, but my guess it isn't good for the area.

  19. by Ponderer on October 7, 2023 6:53 am

You know, this all makes me wonder how anyone can think that allowing Russia to take over and erase Ukraine as a country would be preferable to helping Ukraine defeat Putin's plans.

  20. by HatetheSwamp on October 7, 2023 8:01 am

    po,

That's classic po, "Do you still beat your wife?" It's an absurd strawman, even for you.

  21. by oldedude on October 7, 2023 8:03 am
This is why so far, I've given pedojoe an approval on this. As I've said also, the Poles are very worried. Rightfully so.

  23. by Ponderer on October 7, 2023 8:21 am

Perhaps then, Bill, you can tell us why not giving Ukraine the means to defend itself against Russia would be preferable to whatever that resulted in...?

  24. by oldedude on October 7, 2023 9:55 am
Po- I have an honest question. Why do you support Ukraine? I've stated why more than a few times. I'm just honestly interested.

    What are you not understanding!!!!!?

    Fair enough.

  27. by Ponderer on October 7, 2023 11:09 am

"Po- I have an honest question. Why do you support Ukraine?" -olde dude

    In no particular order...

    • I believe that, for the good of the world, Putin must be stopped and never again be allowed to profit by militarily invading/destroying/annexing any other country.

    • I believe that if Russia is allowed to succeed in this aggression, they will not stop there in Putin's goal of reestablishing a version of Russia's previous empire as his legacy.

    • I pretty much automatically gravitate towards supporting the underdog or victim.

    • I believe that Ukraine can and will become a tremendously beneficial democratic ally of the U.S.

    • I believe that Ukrainians deserve the chance and time to get their fledgling democracy off the ground and we can help.

    • I believe that if we don't stop Putin and he gains Ukrainian territory, we will have to give even more aid to NATO, as the threat will have grown tremendously. Essentially, helping Ukraine by stopping Putin now will be cheaper in the long run than paying for the future results of our failure to.

    • I believe that Ukrainians, having shown that they are willing to fight to the last Ukrainian citizen, are morally correct in their valiant fight to save their country and supporting them is the moral thing to do.

    • I am half Ukrainian.

  28. by Curt_Anderson on October 7, 2023 11:25 am
    Ponderer,
I agree with all your points. If the Ukrainians were not willing to fight against Putin, I wouldn’t support them. They appear to want democracy and their autonomy. They are defending themselves. I support victims against bullies.

    There are two sides:
    1. support Ukraine or
    2. do not support Ukraine which is supporting Putin.

  29. by oldedude on October 7, 2023 11:26 am
Okay, thanks for that. I appreciate it.

  30. by HatetheSwamp on October 7, 2023 11:38 am

I caught Josh Hawley on the Charlie Kirk podcast t'other day. Both oppose support of the war. pb guesses, the American populace being what it is...ADHD and all...within a year their argument will prevail.

  31. by Indy! on October 7, 2023 6:26 pm

    • I am half Ukrainian.

Something tells me this is the only real reason. 🤔

  32. by Ponderer on October 8, 2023 5:54 am

"Okay, thanks for that. I appreciate it." -olde dude

You're welcome, od. It was actually a good exercise for me to get all my reasons down like that. Thanks!

"Something tells me this is the only real reason." -Indy!

Could that something be that you are a fuckingasshole who can gofuck himself...? There are strong indications that that may be what's responsible for a great deal of the erroneous conclusions about people that you come to in here.

  33. by Donna on October 8, 2023 6:33 am

I agree with everything my wife said regarding why she supports continuing aid to Ukraine as well as her last post.

  34. by oldedude on October 8, 2023 10:59 am
I think China's still pulling the strings on everything. As that escalates, watch what happens with Taiwan. They know we can't fight a two-front war, especially now. They're very aware that Bibi and pedojoe don't like each other. This has been painfully evident since before the election. Thusly, they armed and trained Hamas.

  35. by Indy! on October 8, 2023 1:05 pm

We can go over the other reasons too, since I obviously hit a nerve with that last one...

    • I believe that, for the good of the world, Putin must be stopped and never again be allowed to profit by militarily invading/destroying/annexing any other country.

Ahhh... the next "evil dictator" / "madman" who's an "existential threat" to the United States and the world. Saddam, Osama, Kaddafi… Funny how they always have the next guy lined up ready to go.

    • I believe that if Russia is allowed to succeed in this aggression, they will not stop there in Putin's goal of reestablishing a version of Russia's previous empire as his legacy.

Carries about the same amount of validity as the Vietnam era "Domino Theory" except the Vietnamese population was actually behind Ho Chi Min. But hey if you feel comfortable dumbing down yourself to find another "reason"? You do you.

    • I pretty much automatically gravitate towards supporting the underdog or victim.

This one actually sounds like the old critical thinker Pondy. Okay - fair enough. Except corrupt nazis don't make very good underdogs in Indy's book. Sorry - not sorry.

    • I believe that Ukraine can and will become a tremendously beneficial democratic ally of the U.S.

Comical at face value. They were called the "most corrupt nation" previous to the war and - if anything - they've gotten more corrupt. And there's also that nazi thing. Like every other country we've "helped" recently - Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Kuwait, South Vietnam... Anyone being even half honest with themselves knows they will simply move on to doing exactly what they did before we "helped" them once we leave.

    • I believe that Ukrainians deserve the chance and time to get their fledgling democracy off the ground and we can help.

How'd that work in all those other countries I just listed…?
Iraq: Now an ally of Iran
Afghanistan: Controlled by the same exact people we were supposed to be eliminating (not arming)
    Libya: An open slave market
Kuwait: Still the same oppressive monarchy it was before
South Vietnam: Still communist - and NOT "Domino-theorying" their neighbors.

    • I believe that if we don't stop Putin and he gains Ukrainian territory, we will have to give even more aid to NATO, as the threat will have grown tremendously. Essentially, helping Ukraine by stopping Putin now will be cheaper in the long run than paying for the future results of our failure to.

Same exact argument can be made the opposite way - by helping non-NATO countries like Ukraine, we have already opened the door for even more wasteful military misadventures in other countries we have no obligation to "help" (read: destroy).

    • I believe that Ukrainians, having shown that they are willing to fight to the last Ukrainian citizen, are morally correct in their valiant fight to save their country and supporting them is the moral thing to do.

I believe war for profit is never moral. What's that Commandment say again? Oh yeah - Thou shalt not kill.

But hey - don't listen to fuckingdumbass Indy just because he's been right about every one of these conflicts we've inserted ourselves into in order to keep the MIC gravy train on track instead of actually helping Americans and other countries in productive ways instead of just bombing the crap out of them. But hey, Pondy - you definitely earned a couple points for memorizing the MIC talking points to perfection. 😌👍

  36. by oldedude on October 8, 2023 3:10 pm
    Indy's view on life...

    Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together
    Brighter than a lucky penny
When you're near the rain goes, disappears, dear
    And I feel so fine
Just to know that you are mine

My life is sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows
    That's how this refrain goes
So come on, join in everybody!

All you need is love! Just sing kumbaya and everything will be fine!

  37. by Ponderer on October 8, 2023 6:21 pm

Gee, Indy!. I guess I owe you another apology. I'm really sorry if you somehow got the impression that I give a flyingfuck about your critique of my list. Or anything that you had to say about the subject that olde dude and I were talking about. Who masked you for a list anyway?

Man. Now I almost feel guilty for not reading any more than a sentence or two of your whole reply, once I saw what it was going to be about.

But then, the reassurance that I am not missing anything has settled back in, so I'm cool now.

    You do a public service.

Don't worry, Bill. I won't miss a single fuckyou or gofuckyourself that you have coming. I have a very well stocked supply. Should last me for years. Fear not.

  40. by Indy! on October 9, 2023 10:44 am

Truth hurts. The fact is the military is nothing more than a business. We don't solve problems with the military - in fact we lose virtually every conflict we get involved in going by the MIC's own hiliariously fanciful "objectives". Afghanistan is merely the most comically obvious one. But we lost all the others in my list too and Ukraine will lose to - get used to it now so it's not as painful later. The funniest part is all of you - especially OD the jarhead with the song lyrics he doesn't even understand - knows I'm right and it's all of you.
