If Joe Biden is The Establishment's favorite candidate, they had a funny way of showing it.

It seems to me that "The Establishment" is Bernie Sanders's version of Trump's "Deep State". These are two different names for the same vaguely defined, amorphous, evil entity. To the best of my understanding, "The Establishment" and the "Deep State" consists of bureaucrats, millionaires (except Sanders and Trump), the media, polls and other presumed nefarious characters.

Something doesn't add up.
I know what Bernie Sanders, Bernie bros, Trump and Trump supporters are saying about how "The Establishment" is out to get Bernie and that they are putting their thumb on scale to help Joe Biden. Where is the evidence of that?

You'd think that The Establishment would have helped poor ol' Joe Biden with some campaign cash. Nope, Biden was forced to compete in the all-important Super Tuesday states with minimal advertising and practically no ground game while his competitors were spending and had spent money lavishly. Had the number of votes each of the candidates' earned yesterday corresponded to their advertising dollars spent, Biden would have suspended his campaign and been endorsing Michael Bloomberg.

The reports of Biden's political death were greatly exaggerated
Before last Saturday and South Carolina, and after Sander's big win the Nevada Caucuses, the media had written Joe Biden off. The story line from the media was "Bernie Sanders Is the Clear Frontrunner for the 2020 Nomination." The reporting on Biden was obituary-like. The pollsters and odds makers didn't give Biden much of a chance.

Maybe voters aren't that influenced by political advertising
Biden was outspent by Sanders 12 to 1 on Super Tuesday advertising (see chart below). Here is Biden and his rivals Super Tuesday states spending on broadcast, cable, digital, radio and satellite advertising:
Bloomberg spent $217.40 million
Sanders spent $16.13 million
Warren spent $9.14 million
Biden spent $1.32 million

Bernie Sanders also had many more field offices in the Super Tuesday states. For example, in California, (see chart below) Sanders has 23 field offices scattered throughout the state. Bloomberg has 25 and Elizabeth Warren had four offices. Joe Biden had one office.
