Roberts voted with the libs.

I've been a student of the Court for quite a while.

My guess is that, in the end, the Court will not uphold this law, though figuring out the dynamics of this court is proving difficult. There seems to be a lot of politicking that takes place within the Court. It's a Roberts thing.

ACB, and I've been consistently right about her, doesn't seem to be interested in the sort of radical judicial philosophy that guided Antonin Scalia, her mentor.

There may be some sort of very narrow ruling that upholds it.

    The most troubling part of this Texas law is that people who otherwise have no standing can sue. That is a terrible and nonsensical legal precedent. Where does that end? If you post a disparaging remark about Joe Biden will I be able to sue you for libel?

    Apparently, Texas courts have nothing better to do than to process a shit-ton of vexatious litigations that are trying to stop healthcare providers from offering patients a Constitutionally protected procedure.

    Asshole Christian theocrats and the asshole politicians who desperately need their votes don't care what they have to do to impose their asshole religious dogma on our society.

    I have to admit that I don't understand that part of the law but, apparently, it's considered to be a way to attempt to avoid federal courts.

    You seem to be getting silly over this theocracy thing.

    You should note, however, that nuthin in this law attacks the Roe ruling. Even under Roe, abortion can be regulated...and it is in most states.

    Already noted. And not mentioned, because it was not at all relevant.

    They are trying to do an end run around the federal courts with this cockamamie bullshit.

    They have made it legal for anyone (standing, schmanding) to sue any provider, or employee of any provider, who provides abortion services after six-weeks. If anyone served with such a summons does not respond to it, they automatically owe the one suing them $10,000 plus court costs.

    The intention is to make it so onerous for anyone to perform abortions, or even to work for anyone who does, that they simply stop offering this Constitutionally protected service. Roe v Wade, Schmoe v Wade.

    Effectively making abortion available only to wealthy Texas women.

    And FUCK what the Constitution allows and protects.
