"Well, you know, you can take anything - sexism, racism, misogyny, homophobia, whatever, the war," the actress said. "And if you really get into it, and study it and learn about it and the history of it and everything's connected. There'd be no climate crisis if it wasn't for racism."

Fonda was one of 16 people arrested on the Capitol steps at a Washington, D.C., climate change rally in October 2019

An insurrectionist, eh!!!!!?

BTW, even Snopes agrees.

You progressives?, you are wacked!

You conservatives could miss a point even if it was nailed to your forehead.

Exactly, po. So often we need our betters among the progressive SwampLovers, to splain.

  3. by Ponderer on January 31, 2023 8:27 am

Too bad you still never learn anything.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on January 31, 2023 8:35 am

Shucks. You have no idea how much I dream of being enlightened enuff to be a progressive SwampLover just like you, but, at my age, it's an empty dream.

Nobody needs to be "enlightened" simply to acknowledge blatant reality, Bill. It's not really difficult for most of humanity at all.

But maybe it will take such an existential epiphany for you to ever stop being so willfully blind and pig-ignorant. So who am I to judge.

    You doubting Snopes, po?

  7. by Ponderer on January 31, 2023 9:16 am

I never denied she said it. She said it.

And rather than acknowledge the factual point she was making, you had to get all upset that she said it in the first place.

Conservatives are like dogs. When you point at something you want them to see, all they can do is stare at your hand.

Only you also criticize the hand and try to make the hand evil for pointing in the first place.

    Sorry.

Apparently I was unclear. I was guffawing at woke insanity.

I remember a long time ago when conserving gas was a big thing, we were hearing all sorts of ideas for getting better mileage out of our cars.

Some Democratic congress person, or maybe it was a Dem Sec of Energy, was giving some ideas to everyone at a news conference and one item that he mentioned was for people to check and make sure that their tires were inflated to the proper pressure because studies have shown that most people are driving around with tire pressure that was too low. If people would only inflate their tires properly, they would save money and the country could save millions of barrels of oil a year.

The conservative Republican world went apeshit. They thought it was the most ridiculous, insane thing they had ever heard of and went off on the Democrat who proposed it. It was their favorite laugh line for a few days of the news cycle.

To them apparently, the idea that tire pressure could possibly have anything to do with gas mileage was utterly preposterous. They were completely and absolutely wrong. Improperly inflated tires cause extra friction that the engine has to make up for and can therefore drop your mileage by as much as a few miles per gallon. It's a simple scientific fact well proven by a great deal of research.

Because Republicans absolutely revel in their willful, blithering pig ignorance (as you so dearly love to, Bill), and they will reflexively leap at anything they can distort or take out of context with that willful ignorance, they would rather allow their supporters and the whole nation to go around needlessly wasting gas if it gave them what they thought was a good gotcha at the Dems' expense. Some stupid Republicans even tried to moronically spin a simple suggestion into the government is trying to mandate how much air I have to put in my tires!"

Republicans can be so unbelievably stupid a lot of times. But that's what they existentially need to be I guess.

If it is impossible for you to comprehend the mechanisms of how environmental racism has contributed to global pollution and climate change, the laugh is totally on you and your Republican willful ignorance, Bill.

You and other Republicans seem to love laughing at anything you can't understand.
