A NYT/Siena College poll found independent female voters in particular swung dramatically to the right in the past month, despite Democrats' focus on abortion rights.

"In September, they favored Democrats by 14 points. Now, independent women backed Republicans by 18 points— a striking swing given the polarization of the American electorate and how intensely Democrats have focused on that group and on the threat Republicans pose to abortion rights," the paper reported.

The Times noted that was because the economy was "a far more potent political issue in 2022 than abortion," and a majority of voters trusted Republicans to handle it.

On THE FIVE on Monday the liberal du jour, Jessica Tarlov, noted that Dems invested $85 million on abortion ads. Baha.

Yeah, the abortion issue has been sliding down the poles in percentages. NYP pole recently reported the top core issues being the economy and inflation (28%/ 18% respectively).

The next issue was Abortion at 5%, and it goes down from there. Hispanics have pretty much left the dim party regarding the same issues.

These are typically blue-collar workers and small business owners. In addition to that, Latinos really dislike CRT and the "sex education"/ exploitation of their children. These are very family-oriented groups many of whom left "socialist" or dictatorial countries. The Cubans (for example) here love their island but hate Castro and his junta.

The dims keep telling everyone to just suck it up but working-class parents are having to decide if they are going to buy food, OR pay rent, OR save for their heating bill this winter. And throwing money at it doesn't help at all. It just adds gas to the fire.

I suspected all along that the abortion issue would fail the Dems.

When I was younger, I was very involved in the pro-life movement in Pennsylvania. For a purple state, it has always been strongly pro-life. I learned, after a few election cycles, that people don't actually vote on social issues like abortion.

We generally watch about an hour of local TV in a typical day. Fetterman/Dem PACs run the same small handful of ads about half a dozen times in that hour. All of them say that Dr Oz wants to make abortion illegal across the country and put Drs and nurses in jail. And, few care.

In Pennsylvania people start turning on their furnaces in mid October. They're getting their first fill up of heating oil...and, they're pi$$ed. That's what is driving their vote now. It's easy and right to blame Dems.

I think that's the main thing. As a working-class parent and spouse (maybe), am I concerned about hypothetical BS? or real world problems like "how do I get to work this week?" especially if you're an hourly employee that is earning $2 more than what you did a year ago, and food has gone up in your area 50%. And the bodega owner that gives you a break on paying for your goods until Saturday after you get paid just got beat the crap out of by a group of thugs that also almost killed your aunt for $26 that was supposed to last her until monday.

The worst part is they don't even understand the shtholes they've created. But again. On one side are Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows
Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together
    Brighter than a lucky penny

And the other side is. Trump.

    From the Hinkley Institute Poll

"What is the most important to you when selecting a Senator or Senator or member of Congress"

    Economy- 24%
View of the role of government- 18%
    Gun Control/ Protecting the 2nd Amendment- 12%
    Environmental Protection- 8%
    Education- 6%
    Healthcare- 6%
    Abortion- 5%

My question is; What affects voters every day of their lives?
