but if the orange compulsive liar testifies he is likely to commit perjury...he can't help himself.

Trump Must Testify in New York Investigation Into His Business Practices, Judge Rules
The ruling is almost certain to be appealed [by Trump's lawyers], but if upheld it could force the former president into a tough decision about whether to answer questions, or stay silent, citing his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

Legal pundits doubt Trump's appeal will be successful.
Adverse Inference
Though a witness in a civil action may invoke the Fifth Amendment, its invocation by a defendant in a civil action is not always without consequence. Courts in New York have routinely permitted [a jury's] negative inferences following a party-defendant’s Fifth Amendment invocation.

    Here's my refined take:

Trump is despicable. The Swamp is despicable-er.

As we know...well, antiSwampers do...in this country where there's still a functioning Bill of Rights...people are innocent until proven guilty.

If Trump wants it, the GOP nomination is his...still.

If "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" runs again...election integrity laws in most purple states being what they will be by 024,...

Trump will absolutely departs the poor demented fool.

Seriously, you think there's a possibility he's innocent? Trump apparently doesn't think he's innocent. Nobody goes to the extreme measures of avoiding their day in court unless they are trying to hide their guilt.

    Innocent? Trump?

Under the law? Obviously! So far.

I think Trump is despicable. Haven't I said that?

What will he be found guilty of? You know how rich people are. His lawyers will finagle the system. It'll be forever until anything gets to a judge and is settled...if it ever does.

IMO, one way to diagnose TDS is if you get all idealistic about Trump getting what he deserves, you probably are deranged.

  4. by Curt_Anderson on February 18, 2022 10:03 am
Real TDS is thinking it's somehow OK that a corrupt rich person can finagle and abuse the legal system then pine for their presidency.

  5. by HatetheSwamp on February 18, 2022 10:20 am

    OK? Who'd that be?

It's a fact of American life that rich people with fancy lawyers finagle the system.

TDS is suggesting that there's anything abnormal about Trump doing it.

I despise Trump. What sets me apart from everyone else here is that I'm still connected to reality.

Trump is innocent until he's proven guilty. He's only being investigated.
