"It’s hypocritical to basically work with a person day in and day out and then, when they’re in cycle, you’re supposed to be against them because they have an R or D by their name," said Manchin, who appeared with Murkowski on CNN's “State of the Union” to promote the values of bipartisanship.

Murkowski faces GOP primary challenger Kelly Tshibaka, who has support from Trump and Alaska Republican party leaders but who significantly trails the incumbent in fundraising. A Democrat has yet to enter the race; the state's last Democratic senator, Mark Begich, lost reelection in 2014.

This'd be the sort of cooperative, bipartisan DC that "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" promised to bring.

Go Joe!

I have no problem with Manchin's endorsement of Murkowski. Murkowski's a lot better than her Trump endorsed rival. I don't even think that the Democrats have anybody running for that US Senate seat.

    There is no Dem candidate.

What I think is significant is that it raises the question for me if there will be a reimergence of the old Gang of 14,...a group of moderate Senators that chose to decide the fate, particularly of judicial nominees.

One of the reasons that the Former 18 Wheeler Driver got as many votes as he did is that he promised to bring moderation, civility and sanity to DC discourse, which he hasn't done. I think that this is one reason he's lost Independents.
