The NY Times headlined an obituary thusly: Eve Babitz, a Hedonist With a Notebook, Is Dead at 78
A child of Hollywood, she wrote of the sensuous pleasures of Los Angeles, and sampled them enthusiastically.
About a dozen paragraphs into the obit, the Times tickled me with this witticism.
Ms. Babitz’s paramours were legion — Harrison Ford, Stephen Stills, Jim Morrison, Annie Leibovitz and Mr. [Steve] Martin, to name a few. “In every young man’s life there is an Eve Babitz,” Earl McGrath, the record executive, famously said. “It’s usually Eve Babitz.”
