First morning of retirement at our new apartment in Tucson.
God, what a week.
We moved in all the stuff we brought in our cars, but we just got word yesterday that all of the stuff the movers have isn't going to be delivered today as planned. We were told that they'd try to deliver it on the 17th, but that it could be as much as a week late. Yesterday they told us it could be 7 to 14 days. It's in a warehouse in Las Vegas right now.
So were pretty much camping here. We have all the essentials like our Mr. Coffee, ample clothing, meds, etc. and an air mattress which we used for the first time last night. It's very comfortable and we both slept well.
We got a great deal on this apartment - $695. Our place in Long Beach was $1450. If we had secured this apartment a week later than we did, the price would have been $835. The owner of the complex sold it about a week after we were approved. It'll be $695 for a year. After that, who knows?
I decided to continue working for Jacent Strategic Merchandising, but part-time. I'm going from 20 grocery stores (Ralphs, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Superior, Northgate, Smart & Final, El Super) to 3 Whole Foods, which are relatively easy to service. I'll probably work 4 to 6 hours a week. In fact I'm supposed to meet my new supervisor next Monday.
