You raise a serious point, but you are missing an important distinction. I get that it's intended to be humorous, but I suspect that you believe there is truth to it.

My native city of Milwaukee held and still has various events and festivals with ethnic themes. There is Polish Fest, German Fest, and Italian, Irish, Mexican, etc. themed events, etc. Probably every city of substantial size has ethnic-themed days and events.

We were practically obligated to wear green on St. Patrick's day when I was a kid in school.

The intent of those events doesn't seem substantially different in their intent than the Centennial Elementary School playground event. That is, they are inclusive and celebratory in nature.

The KKK's modus operandi was to discriminate, subjugate and worse. So it's hardly an apt comparison.

You seem to fall for culture war example no matter how trivial. Republicans want you stay outraged over Sesame Street and Dr. Seuss-related issues, etc. and distracted from Republican attacks on our Constitution and our democracy.

The CITY itself did? Tax payers paid for Polocks, Krauts, Wops, etc. to have parties?

I don't think we do that around here. Certainly, municipalities are open to allowing, even encouraging, ethnic and cultural groups to celebrate their commonality and community.

But PAY for it? Nah.

The law prof quoted in the Daily Mail points out that what the school did probably violates state law.

I think that the BEE and other critics get that and see progressive hypocrisy.

I cannot confirm that the Milwaukee city government is a sponsor of any of their ethnic fairs. However, the nearby city of Two Rivers and Manitowoc County are sponsors of their Ethnic Fest.

Many other city governments sponsor ethnic fairs.

Ethnic Festival is a celebration of cultures from all over the world.

The Ethnic Festival to which you refer is a celebration of diversity.

It's not, "ONLY DARKIES ALLOWED."

It seems to me that a "Families of Color Playground Night" is patronizing and condescending and, certainly, doesn't promote diversity, equality and inclusion.

I accept the reality that, among progressives, it, somehow, promotes all three.

Those the ethnic festivals I linked to and others like them tend to focus on one ethnicity at time.

Nobody said that only families of color could use that Colorado playground that day. It's sort like seeing a sign that says "Children Welcome" or "Seniors Welcome". Many towns have an entrance sign that says "We Welcome Veterans". Nobody thinks those signs are exclusionary.

Whatever the details of that playground event, it's the sort of triviality that has no impact on your life that conservatives like you get your panties in wad about.
