Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) declared:
“Standard gargle mouthwash has been proven to kill the coronavirus. If you get it, you may reduce viral replication. Why not try all these things?”

In response, Johnson & Johnson, the makers of Listerine posted the following:
"LISTERINE® Antiseptic is an antimicrobial mouthwash that is clinically proven to kill germs that cause plaque, bad breath and the early gum disease, gingivitis.
