(CNN Business)Prominent Christian televangelist and anti-vaccine advocate Marcus Lamb died after being hospitalized with Covid-19, his family announced Tuesday.

Christian television network founder and preacher Marcus Lamb, who discouraged vaccinations, dies after being hospitalized for Covid-19

Marcus Lamb often spoke out against the Covid-19 vaccines on his show. In an episode earlier this year featuring anti-vaccine activists Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Del Bigtree, Lamb said the Covid-19 vaccine was "not really a vaccine," but an "an experimental shot" that was "dangerous. Marcus Lamb alleged that people were dying or having neurological disorders from the vaccine.

    Sad.

But, prominent? I think I'm far more familiar with institutionalized Christianity than are you. This guy warn't prominent.

You're right, Hate, he's not as prominent as the Pope, but still...

"In December of 1981, Marcus Lamb founded Word of God Fellowship in Macon. He married Joni Trammell of Greenville, South Carolina in 1982, and she began to travel full time with him as they ministered in more than 20 states. As an evangelist, Marcus quoted so many scriptures in his sermons that many began referring to him as the “Walking Bible.”

While on a trip to Israel in 1983, God spoke to Marcus Lamb and told him to found a Christian television station in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1985, Marcus built WMCF-TV, “45 Alive,” in Montgomery. It was the first Christian TV station in the state, and Marcus was the youngest person in the country to build a full power television station."

    isle,

    Good to have you back.

Are you joking or being disingenuous?

As intimately as I was involved in institutionalized Christianity for almost all of my life, I'd never heard of him. He was, I grant you, a name of consequence in the "health and wealth Gospel" or prosperity Gospel crowd.

His name never came up on the old forum when we discussed religion or Christianity or the church. I'm certain that you've never dropped his name until now.

These people are considered heretics by mainline Christians as well as down-the-middle evangelicals.

In no meaningful way was he prominent.

Of Course, Hate, nobody that you are unfamiliar with in the world of televangelism could ever be considered "prominent".

  5. by HatetheSwamp on December 3, 2021 9:05 am

I've never seen him on my telley. You?

  6. by islander on December 3, 2021 11:18 am

Nope! Never seen him on the telley. But then that's no reason for me to believe no one else has heard of him and/or knows of his accomplishments. After reading about him and what he's done it's rather obvious that lots of other people have heard of him.

    isle,

Lots of people have heard of me. I ain't prominent.

  8. by islander on December 3, 2021 11:29 am

True, you're not prominent. But don't be discouraged, you might still be able to find something you can do to to make yourself prominent.
