Oil prices dropped back to where they were in the early days of the Iran war, and U.S. stocks raced to another record Friday after Iran said the Strait of Hormuz is open again for commercial tankers carrying crude from the Persian Gulf to customers worldwide.

Oil Prices Drop Today After Strait of Hormuz Reopening
Oil prices fell sharply today as Iran announced the Strait of Hormuz is fully open for commercial shipping, easing fears of major supply disruptions amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.

    Oops!

The price of oil per barrel dropped (AGAIN) to $82.20 as of 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT on Friday,

April 17, after weeks of hovering around the $100 mark, according to CNBC. The plunge comes as the White House shared an update on X early Friday that the Strait of Hormuz was open, but a naval blockade would remain in place until its negotiations with Iran are "100% complete."

Let's revisit this thread in about a week.

  3. by oldedude on April 18, 2026 9:32 am
I'd be happy to. Considering trumpster turned several empty tankers to the US to sell our oil, so there's that. The Navy is still there because Iran hasn't fulfilled their part of the deal yet. The houthi's are silent, the Chinese are blocked from going in (that's an up or down thing), and Europe is starting to get fuel. In the scheme of things, that's pretty good. They have ~8 days(ish).

  4. by Donna on April 18, 2026 10:04 am

Iran hasn't agreed to a deal. Trump is manipulating the market again. Iran closed the SOH again last night. Satellite imagery shows multiple ships doing u-turns before heading out through the SOH. The IFG has also fired on ships violating the closure.

So oil prices will climb again, and trump and his buddies will make billion$... again.
Trump is playing everyone except Iran.

There are still some countries (China like I already mentioned) that can't be loaded and go out of the straits. I know your perfect world would not include trumpster. And as long as that one person owns you lock, stock, and barrel, you're his little bitch.

  6. by Indy! on April 18, 2026 11:06 am

OD is okay being owned lock, stock, and barrel, as his Daddy's little bitch. He doesn't even understand that the market is purposely being manipulated by Trump to make money for himself and his family and that OD and the rest of the people guzzling gas are paying for it.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on April 18, 2026 11:39 am

"Trump is manipulating the market again. Iran closed the SOH again last night.:

Jussayin Donna, based simply on the tone of your post, you're rootin agin the good ole USA.

Good lord the stupidity is off the charts.

  9. by oldedude on April 18, 2026 12:13 pm
You're CORRECT FOR ONCE! You stupidity in believing that something is absolutely true, when everyone else in the world is saying she's a fraud and has no story! You stupid pussy. The people that actually investigated her, SAID it wasn't true and backed that up with facts. No media will run the story because IT'S A LIE!

  10. by Indy! on April 18, 2026 12:55 pm

Wrong thread, OD. Like I said - the stupidity is off the charts. You can't even put your responses in the proper thread. 😌

I'll just be like you and say it whenever I want to. Like you do.

While I generally accept new charges to the Indy League of Interesting People, you might have to pay double the dues and pass an exam to make sure you qualify...

Question #1: Have you ever gotten high? If yes, on what type of illegal substances? 🤔

  13. by oldedude on April 19, 2026 8:36 am
My question to you is; "why would I want to associate myself with you?"

  14. by Donna on April 19, 2026 9:10 am

"There are still some countries (China like I already mentioned) that can't be loaded and go out of the straits. I know your perfect world would not include trumpster. And as long as that one person owns you lock, stock, and barrel, you're his little bitch."- olde dude

So I give a factual update on the situation in the SOH and you personally attack me with an invective.

How can I respond other than pointing out what a hateful person you are?

  15. by oldedude on April 19, 2026 9:25 am
Anyway you want. My point is still valid.

FYSA- Iran closed the SOH last night for a time, and attacked one of the carrier groups. Not sure what's happening on the classified side (which is where 90% of what's going on happens). I'm a little shocked something in Iran didn't blow up last night or this morning.

  16. by Donna on April 21, 2026 10:08 am

There are no real negotiations going on with Iran. They've been unwaivering all along in their refusal to negotiate anything under threats of ending their entire civilization. As much as I hate the Iranian regime, I can't blame them for responding the way they have.

So trump now finds himself in a self-imposed pickle. He doesn't want to do any kind of real negotiation with Iran, but neither does he want to send the US military into a potential bloodbath. Perhaps this is why we're hearing reports of generals icing him out of meetings and hiding the nuclear codes from him.

  17. by Ponderer on April 21, 2026 12:05 pm

This is great! All Trump has to do is keep lying his ass off to everyone about how this war of his flailing to keep manipulating the markets forever and everything will be fine!

The biggest problem right now is "whos in charge?" This is just like most countries that lose their governments. They'll go through "growing pains" in setting the new government. Americans, being immediate gratifiers don't understand the months this may take. Not a bad thing, other than we don't know who to talk to because everyone thinks they're in charge. The Iranian citizens seem to be willing to wait. They know they need a change of government, and it's far too volatile for them to support either side in country.

BTW, as of yesterday (4/21), there are eight Iranian women that have been arrested and are expected to be sentenced to be hung. The international and US Womens' groups remain silent on this.

There are a few known "leaders" in their system that are part of the succession. There are two "parties" groping for power from completely opposite views on the spectrum. both of the parties are what's left over from us taking out the hierarchy.

The first are what's left of the political structure. These are politicians rising from ashes. They are semi organized and are willing to negotiate with the west. This is where you're hearing about the SOH being opened, and the Uranium 235 being given to the US. It seems their view is to negotiate and rebuild.

On the opposite end is what's leftover from the military. They are of course, well-structured and took over the infrastructure. Right now they own all the aircraft in country to get to Islamabad. They're the hard core Khemlani surrogates that want to stand and fight. They're die hard twelvers that will take out the world without any qualms at all.

So when trumpster said negotiations were going well and the Iranians denied everything trumpster said, this is the biggest issue. My bet? one side is going to get dead (my guess is the politicians) and the military will take over. They're no better than the prior theocracy.

Trump's bullshit market manipulation is still working.

And what were oil prices when Trump took office in '25...?

(FYI: The price of a gallon of gas in the U.S. has increased about 33% between Trump's inauguration and today)

  20. by Indy! on April 22, 2026 10:45 am
    Odorous:
BTW, as of yesterday (4/21), there are eight Iranian women that have been arrested and are expected to be sentenced to be hung. The international and US Womens' groups remain silent on this.

That's probably because they're not watching the Fox Fairy Tale Factory "news".

  21. by Donna on April 22, 2026 2:17 pm

I just experienced a little comic relief watching Karoline Leavitt assure everyone that her boss is yet again "on the brink of a deal" with Iran 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

So get ready for another round of market manipulation.

  22. by Indy! on April 22, 2026 6:20 pm

This won't end until either the GOP gets tired of looking stupid protecting their pants-crapping orange master, or the Ds take over Congress at the midterms, find their balls and stand up to Daddy Warbucks.

Of course I was being facetious in the second part of that.

GREAT! If only that was the fuel people were putting in their cars to get to work everyday. Gas is at it's highest price in years.

Jfc. What a horror show this country has become. A third of our population is detached from reality and attached to a propaganda machine.

I think you just should have gone to jail instead of going into the navy. Then you'd have a reason to hate everything in your life. You are one of the "Victims of their own life."

I had to laugh at your remark, considering that part of the post was attributed to the Hindustan Times, which I find much better than your tiktok, and ccp owned "news." Especially when the information was told by the Iranians.
