Biden admin. weaponized FACE Act against pro-life activists

WASHINGTON (TNND) — A new report from the Justice Department alleges that the Biden administration weaponized federal law by selectively prosecuting pro-life activists under the FACE Act.

The report noted multiple cases, including one involving pro-life activist Mark Houck, who was originally charged with two felony violations of the FACE Act in connection with a 2021 shoving incident with an abortion clinic volunteer in Philadelphia. Houck argued that he was defending his 12-year-old son from harassment.

    Unfortunately, this is a known quantity. From perjury in the FISA and federal courts (which they got caught at and admitted wrongdoing) to firing one lawyer for changing the wording in a warrant for the judge, then turning it back to it's original verbiage because the original was illegal to use. They also trolled for information (in which you MUST articulate criminal acts. This was on getting toll records of "only" GOP members of congress. It's the first step in obtaining a wiretap. The dim DOJ was asking for 2 years' worth of tolls on several GOP future appointees. That is unreasonable even in a RICO case.

    Consider the source of the accusations: the Trump DOJ! This report is the product of about 15 months of DOJ trying to pin something on the Biden administration DOJ and a bamboozle the gullible fools like those with whom we are familiar.

    I am referring to the "weaponization working group" which was launched by Pam Bondi and Donald Trump to go after his perceived enemies and policies of which he disapproved. See link.

    Mark my words, other than firing some DOJ employees any prosecutions of illegal application of the FACE Act will make it about as far as their ill fated prosecutions of James Comey, Leticia James, and others on Trump's enemies list.

    OD and pb brought some of these abuses of the FACE Act up in the moment. However, politicizing the DOJ ain't, so far as I know, criminal. It's unethical for sure.

    By the way, when we brought the Biden DOJ abuses, you blamed the DOJ's victims.

    Do you have a problem with our justice and jury systems? The current DOJ has proven that it's one thing to begin a prosecution, but obtaining a conviction is not automatic.

    The following individuals and groups had their day in court but were convicted during the Biden administration for FACE Act violations:
    Washington, D.C. Blockade (2020 Incident):
    Lauren Handy: Received the longest sentence of 57 months.
    John Hinshaw, William Goodman, Herb Geraghty, Jean Marshall, Joan Bell, Paulette Harlow, and Heather Idoni: All convicted for their roles in a 2020 clinic blockade.
    Jay Smith: Pleaded guilty to a felony FACE Act offense and was sentenced to prison in March 2023.
    Mount Juliet, Tennessee Blockade (2021 Incident):
    Chester Gallagher, Heather Idoni, Calvin Zastrow, Coleman Boyd, Paul Vaughn, and Dennis Green: A federal jury convicted these six defendants in January 2024 of felony conspiracy and FACE Act offenses.
    Other Convictions:
    Eva Edl: Convicted alongside Heather Idoni for a clinic blockade in Michigan.
    Father Fidelis Moscinski: Among those convicted and subsequently pardoned.
    Abortion Rights Activists: The DOJ also prosecuted individuals for attacking pro-life facilities, including a conspiracy to vandalize centers in Florida and an arson attack in Wisconsin. One Florida-based activist received a 120-day prison term in March 2025.

    Moving on: Where the right was "blocking access" to a clinic, the left was firebombing them. Houses of worship? I'm good protecting them as our founders wanted. And considering no LEA in their proper mind would ever think of investigating a Mosque, but they specifically went in to fish for evidence in the Catholic churches. And then there's the fiasco in Milwaukee. How someone didn't get dead in that fiasco, I don't know. People come busting through the doors?

Well, except for hunter's bastard daughter, which has been openly shunned by the entire family, and fought tooth and nail NOT to give any support to his child. Not wanting to pay child support isn't a rare thing, but all in all, if he weren't a "biden" he would have been arrested and jailed. He couldn't even get arrested for a felony gun charge.

Can you imagine if they actually did what they claimed they were going to do when Obama was elected? Day 1 in Congress - pass universal healthcare. Day 2 - pull every one of our soldiers out of every stupid war of choice Bush started. Day 3 - Tell Israel they have 2 weeks to create the borders for a Palestinian state. If the GOP wanted those things - that's what they would do. We're lucky they're too busy trying to wax Trump's tiny boner to do any serious damage.

    Are you able to make that argument with a straight face? Do you not realize how ridiculous it is?

    Do you not think that judges recognize constitutional and law violations? And if the judges didn't catch the violations, certainly any decent defense lawyer would know it and call it out. Need I mention that Trump and his cronies all had high priced lawyers? It's not as if they had inexperienced public defenders. Do you really think that perjury goes unquestioned and unnoticed? Don't you think that defense lawyers can spot a lie? Even if they didn't spot the lie, they and the court would expect evidence of the prosecution's assertions.

    So a guy from Pennsylvania wasn't convicted. Good for him. I would not expect every prosecution to be successful. An unsuccessful prosecution does not equal select selective prosecution. And for "selective prosecution" to be illegal it has to be shown that the prosecuted person was unfairly prosecuted solely because of their race, religion, etc.

    If you're concerned about vindictive prosecution, then look no farther than the Trump DOJ. The Trump DOJ was embarrassed in their attempts to prosecute James Comey and Leticia James. And they still haven't thrown in the towel. They plan to appeal the convictions they didn't get in the Comey and James cases. See link.

    The Trump DOJ couldn't even make it past the grand jury stage in more than one case. Besides the cases they've lost there's the number of cases that are stalled. It's no secret that Pam Bondi was fired because of her inability to successfullyprosecute Trump's enemies.

    Had Biden really wanted to wipe out student debt, he could've broken into a government building in the night, stolen some data for other purposes, deleted some data, and then student debts would be gone. Or whatever. His underlings would be vulnerable to prosecution, but I've not heard anything about Musk or his thuglets getting arrested. So it seems there was no need for Biden to let the Constitution stop him either. Alas, the catch is wiping out debt would anger the ruling class, ergo, "he couldn't do that."

    Myce psychoanalyzes. OD is so triggered that he cannot clarify why he is offended by my post. Why do conservatives become hostile at things that should normally elicit empathy?

    Studies have shown that people in general have less empathy towards blacks than whites. Empathy costs mental energy, so there is a limit. I think conservatives have a lower limit because of their upbringing. Authoritarian parents purposefully keep the children traumatized so they are easier to control, which weakens them. Their parents did not empathize with them but punished them instead, and that's why they're so insecure, easily manipulated by Fox and often trying to punish somebody who needs help.

    As for DEI, as Jasmine said, "if you're confident, you're not worried about the competition." Complaining about DEI is a sign of mediocrity.
