They just went from far right to center right. Orban had been there for 16 years. That's like 150 in dog years. There's also been a lot of "issues" with the country since the 1980s/1990s with that whole area, so this is good news, but the country is still holding on to their nationalism. But are easing off of the war mentality. I wasn't a big fan, but he was leading the country peacefully. That's kind of a new concept in the region.
Was he horrible? not considering the wars around him. Why do liberals hate him with a passion? He's conservative and extremely religious Orthodox Christianity. This was part of what drew the country together at the beginning. Does he "dislike" Muslims? Absolutely. They tried to take over his country and made no bones about murdering anyone in the Orthodox religion.
Remember, these are the countries of Slobodan Milošević, the guy that made Muslim villages disappear, with mass graves outside the towns. Also, there were the "sniper wars" and "Sarajevo Safaris" where rich guys would go "human hunting" with local snipers and they could kill Muslim men, women, and children looking for stove fuel and groceries for a very high price.
What we do know, is there are still free elections there. That's wonderful, regardless of what the results are, I haven't heard of anyone getting dead over the election. Secondarily Orban left on his own accord. That's a pretty big thing there. About half the countries are still who they are through virile hatred. Kinda like being a black right after the war of northern aggression. There are several good examples of this, but the best is the ethnic cleansing in Bosnia- Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, etcetcetc...
So my view. Chickenshitting this won't do any good. He has the most stable country around there other than the Czech Republic and Slovakia, who didn't have near the issues the other countries did.
