Everyone strains to try to figure out why Trump does the horrifically disastrous things he does to this country. The prevailing wisdom from the left mainstream is that he's demented or senile or a nihilistic sociopath or something of that sort. This seems to be the answer to everything about him that people seem to feel most comfortable with. And I am not denying that this is a possibility.

But ever since Trump was first elected, this other possibility has been eating away at me, and it hasn't stopped since 2016.

Trump has been in bed with Putin and Russia to some degree or another over the last couple decades or more. Russian oligarchs financed much of his empire in the beginning, buying his properties or renting in them, getting him loan deals and such. How hard is it to imagine, given Trump's insatiable greed and immorality, that he and Putin made some deal way back then to groom Trump for the presidency and have him operate as such while actually being a Russian agent?

Besides Trump's greed for riches that Putin can lead him to, Putin also is very likely to have something totally devastating to Trump to use as blackmail. So, becoming insanely wealthy AND saving himself from global embarrassment...? I don't see how Trump could pass such a thing up and I can't imagine Putin not jumping at such a chance.

I do not believe for a second that Donald Trump has any real love for this country. Or for anything or anyone other than himself. In fact, given his focus on doing things that Putin likes, like publicly saying that he trust's Putin's word over his own CIA, trying to get Ukraine to surrender, defending him here at home and such, I can easily imagine that Trump actually hates this country and all its megalomaniacally-hindering laws, regulations, and that all too inconvenient democracy. And especially so since so many Americans actively loathe and despise him. Plus, you can't dismiss the whole blackmail possibility.

We are all left to speculate and imagine what he and Putin talked about during that hyper-private, in-person conversation they had in Helsinki back in '18. Or during any of the calls he made with him that lack any transcripts. Does anyone actually believe that these communications were done with the wellbeing and safety of America primary in his mind?

Putin's orders to his Asset could have been so simple:

• Always do the wrong thing for America, its people, and its economy. Use your authority as president to destroy America for me.

• Ignore your Constitution and do whatever you want to. What are they gonna do about it?

• Don't help Ukraine in any way whatsoever, while pushing for them to surrender.

• Do whatever you can to destroy all of America's alliances with its allies.

• Live your dream and enjoy all of the perks that being an authoritarian dictator can give you.

All the various aspects of Trump's history and what he has been doing seems to leave these two most likely scenarios: He is either too stupid about how anything works and is megalomaniacally insane... or he is an active foreign agent working to fulfil the wishes... no, the ORDERS of Vladimir Putin.

But now that I think of it, it's of course possible that both are correct.

With the first scenario, people are still left wondering how anything he does makes any sense at all. Whatever he does, people are always asking themselves, "Why is he doing this? Doesn't he know how wrong that will be for America for God's sake? How can he not think this will be bad for America?".

But, with the second scenario in mind, literally everything that he has done or is doing makes perfect, crystal-clear sense all of a sudden. Absolutely everything. Like a diamond bullet hitting you right between the eyes, as Col. Kurtz once said. It all falls neatly into completely logical place.

Any time that Trump does something that you find flabbergastingly destructive to this country, ask yourself if Putin would like that Trump is doing it. You will find that in one way or another; the answer is always yes.

Here's a funny thing to find myself having to say: I hope that Trump is only crazy.

I actually hope that I am wrong about all this. Because as horrific as it may be to have a literally insane, narcissistic, scofflaw, corrupt and immoral asshole for a president, the notion of an actual Russian asset sitting behind the Resolute Desk is a far, far more horrific thing to consider happening to this country.

pedophile's bitch will now laugh and go on about my TDS or whatnot, while at the same time not making any case for this not being a tremendous likelihood.

Commentator Kyle Kulinsky has said, "If he isn't a Manchurian Candidate, he's certainly acting like one." In my opinion, Trump has baby-brain and only understands his own id desires. He is a predator to regular people, but among the Epstein class of predators, he is a prey animal. He is not smart enough for conspiracies, but he is vulnerable to suggestion and anything that makes him feel "loved," like money and flattery. In short, yes, he may be a Manchurian Candidate, but it's because he is stupid and not because he has any clue what he's doing. I think both Russian and Israel are blackmailing him. I don't know why, because obviously MAGA would not give a shit if he himself was disemboweling babies born to teenage rape victims. (Although I think he is too squeamish and would not want to get his clothes dirty.)

H.L. Mencken's famous political axiom: "For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong".

That is populist politics in a nutshell. Trump is a populist. Despite Trump's limited intellect, un-Americanism, psychological issues, lack of ethics and morals he appeals to a segment of the population who themselves have concluded that the "clear, simple, and wrong" approaches are worth pursuing.

Putin didn't create Trump, but he's lucky to have him.

"Putin didn't create Trump, but he's lucky to have him." Curt

Yes, it's quite possible that Trump has achieved everything that he has on his own.

But it can't be denied that there is something going on between him and Putin. Look how Trump will never take anyone's advice if it clashes with his own wishes. Putin could simply be manipulating Trump, telling him what he wants to hear while gently steering him in a certain direction without him even being aware of it. But Trump actually appears to respect and value whatever Putin says to him like no other person.

    There's two possibilities imho...

    1) Pondy's take which has a high probability of being correct and...

    2) Trump has always been naturally drawn to authoritarians because he fashions himself as one. There's the story about him having Mein Kampf on his nightstand (although I doubt he'd be able to read and - least of all - understand it).He obviously gets giddy everytime he's around Putin or talks about him. He's made the ludicrously revealing statements like believing Putin over the CIA as Pondy mentioned and the time he said we should get rid of mail-in voting because Putin said it wasn't reliable (paraphrasing). On top of that he thinks nothing is more important than pretending to be a tough guy even though he's a fat walking blob of gelatin that would probably get his assed kicked by any average sized, reasonably fit 12yr old if he ever got in a real fight. So yeah, he loves Putin and wants to be just like him - but there is no blackmail going on.

Blackmail doesn't have to be part of it. But I do think it's a likely possibility. Putin was the head of the KGB. He'd certainly be the expert to be able to do it. "The Pee Tape" may be a relatively innocuous label for what Putin may actually have on him.

  7. by Ponderer on February 22, 2026 10:00 am

I'd love to hear our resident Trump voters' take on this possibility I speak of. What percentage of a probability do they give it, one to a hundred...?

The number has been slowly increasing for me for some time, but it's recently jumped to a 82% chance of being true. I think I was somewhere in the thirties when he was elected the first time. Big jump on January sixth. A big one again when he got reelected and became a dictator on Day One.

Whatta ya give it, pedophile's bitch...? olde dude...? Even you two must have a likelihood in mind about this.

5%...? 1%...? 33%...? 18%...? You can even go to the right of the decimal point as many digits as you need to...
