Many former members of the US military have gone onto murder, rape, and engage in criminal activities. Is it too much to ask that they be at least as well vetted as we have our former Afghan allies before being allowed to remain at large in the United States?

Since the 2021 U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, over 77,000 Afghan nationals evacuated under Operation Allies Welcome (OAW) underwent a multi-layered screening process, including biometric and biographic checks against U.S. intelligence, law enforcement, and counterterrorism databases.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, the National Guard shooting suspect, underwent multiple, layers of U.S. vetting starting around 2011 for CIA work, followed by 2021 Operation Allies Welcome screening, and 2025 asylum checks. Officials stated he passed all checks, including National Counterterrorism Center database reviews, biometrics (fingerprints/photos), and interviews.

It is a well known fact that a lot of people join the military to get training in weapons, explosive devices, etc... that they can use in their criminal activities. That is just another - amongst MANY - great reasons to shrink our over bloated, ineffective and WILDLY overpriced "defense" and "security" apparatus. Especially now that our (former?) allies are taking steps to defend themselves (at least to some degree) so we don't have to.

  2. by Curt_Anderson on February 8, 2026 11:17 am
I hope people realize that I am not tarring all of ex-military with the same brush as the Oklahoma City bomber, Timothy McVeigh. Likewise our Afghanistan allies are not the same or responsible for their fellow Afghani who shot two national guard members in Washington DC last year. I posted this to make a point that even the most scrutinizing vetting cannot detect crimes before they happen.

It did not escape my attention that the crocodile tears coming from MAGA lamenting the fate of any Afghanis left behind after Joe Biden finally finally withdrew from that decades-long fiasco, have been replaced with MAGA accusations that those same Afghanis should be considered terrorists in our midst.

  3. by Indy! on February 8, 2026 11:28 am

Understand that I am also not accusing every military vet of using the military to get free training in the use of weaponry. That's even though Charles Whitman - one of the earliest recognized mass shooters - was an expert marksman in the Marines before he went nutso, killed his mom and wife and then climbed a clock tower at the University of Texas and shot 46 people killing 15.

Curt- you're still on the Homer bandwagon. First, as of the late 1990s, ALL service members have a SECRET CLEARANCE AT LEAST (which none of the Afghans got, and neither did asshole mcveigh. He spent the last few months in supermax in CO, in the fetal position and being laughed at by the guards. I just wish he was part of general population so he would have died much slower and much more in pain. And asshole didn't make his full term in the military. So like concha, he was rejected by everyone. Both of these posters have what I call the "military documentary" Gomer Pyle as any sort of reference to the military. Which means you can't buy a fucking clue about any part of it.

Since the late 1990s, there are many more discharges for "failure to adapt to military life" during that process. I've talked about this ad nauseam, I'll guess I'll just repeat myself...

First, I find it funny that cornudocurt and concha will always support Many former members of the US military have gone onto murder, rape, and engage in criminal activities. Is it too much to ask that they be at least as well vetted as we have our former Afghan allies before being allowed to remain at large in the United States? So you STILL refuse to answer why you want to argue this so much. Can't back up with facts? Is your hatred that bitter? Are you a 12 year old little girl that got embarrassed by the cool clique? There's got to be something behind this.

The part that is really strange, is that both of the posters have adamantly supported rapists, murderers, and especially in criminal activities for the past few years, and much more notably in illegal alien activity and 10/7 (which are crimes against humanity). So I'm not sure where this hatred for the military comes from.

We can say the same thing about police officers beating people they arrest or their spouses, and maybe murdering them or skimming off the drug deal to use the coke or trade "shimmy time" with a woman instead of arresting them or giving them a ticket (maybe you should talk to his "son" that doesn't exist), or of course ICE agents. Or teachers sexually assaulting students, or the percentage of "trans" gaming the system, or "curts frat butties" that commit many of the sexual assaults on campus, and are absolutely protected. Or college or professional athletics that commonly are perps of domestic violence and either victims or perps in shootings. And yet they get more in a month than the military does in five years.

Not being one to hide behind my mommy's skirt in the fetal position or asking "mommy" what I can do... I will say there are assholes in the military. I freely admit it. AND there are a lot more Daniel Penny's that choose to save people's lives at the risk of their own, than there are Robert Bales.' As I said before, Bales was absolutely rejected by the rank and file of all the services. For ONE reason. He broke the rules. He went complete apeshit. Ergo, he didn't have the integrity to continue being one of them. He was an asshole. Period end of story. As I talked about Both of the "folks" on this thread are considered unfit for any kind of military duty. Neither can pass the psychological exam for entry. Neither of you are stable enough to make it through basic training. In any service. Oh. And they won't take concha's "art" "degree."

"First, as of the late 1990s, ALL service members have a SECRET CLEARANCE AT LEAST"

    This isn't true.

  6. by oldedude on February 8, 2026 1:21 pm
It is, Even the Army and Marine Corps got them SECRET CLEARANCES. That or prove me wrong.

  8. by oldedude on February 8, 2026 2:12 pm
So you can put out your bullshit, and you can't back it up. as usual🙄.
And of course, when I call you on your bullshit, you become a little bitch and "claim" it's my fault you feel like you just got caught with your hand in your pants.

  9. by Indy! on February 8, 2026 2:56 pm

    Old Dud
Neither of you are stable enough to make it through basic training. In any service. Oh. And they won't take concha's "art" "degree."

Of course they would accept my art degree because all that is required to join the military is a high school diploma or a GED. In fact, my degree would qualify me to be a commissioned officer unlike that (probably forged) GED that allowed you to slip into the army.

    AI Overview

To enlist in the U.S. military,
a high school diploma or a GED is the minimum required educational credential. For1, a bachelor's degree is required to become a commissioned officer. Enlistment generally requires passing the ASVAB test and meeting age and physical standards.
    Key Educational Requirements:

Enlisted Personnel: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. GED holders may have limited spots.
Commissioned Officers: A four-year bachelor's degree is required.
Specialized Roles: Doctors, lawyers, and chaplains need corresponding graduate or professional degrees.

  10. by oldedude on February 8, 2026 3:24 pm
You have to go to an accredited school🤣. And you can't show that. Plus, an "art" degree is useless to them for anything. Try, engineering, political science, aeronautics. You know, something "useful."

  11. by Indy! on February 8, 2026 5:29 pm

Just as all your wishes about me never come true, so will that one. I'm over qualified for the military. That's the difference between you and I. My parents raised me well so I would have choices in life - so I wouldn't have to be brainless muscle for Big Brother like the ICEholes or cleaning up army base parking lots like you.

  12. by Navy2711 on February 8, 2026 5:52 pm

"In fact, my degree would qualify me to be a commissioned officer "- Indy

This is correct, in that a bachelor's is ONE requirement, and the field does not matter. Many, many officers have had "artsy" degrees - English, history, philosophy, even fine arts - and it's been this way for many decades. One that comes to mind is Philip Caputo. Even if he hasn't read the book, O.D. will recognize the book A Rumour of War. The author, Philip Caputo, was a decorated Marine infantry platoon commander in Vietnam, and was an English major.

While a 4-year degree is one requirement, there are others, and Indy, specifically, would not make the cut, as he would not pass the mental health evaluation, the physical fitness tests, drug use history, and especially the oral interview, in which he would be judged on:

    ✔️ Communication

    ❌ Bearing

    ❌ Confidence

    ❌ Maturity

    ❌ Leadership potential

  13. by Indy! on February 8, 2026 6:26 pm

Good lord you military people are adorably naive. 🙂 Rather than shoot down every one of your ridiculously erroneous notions, I'll merely tell you plenty of my loser friends got into the military no problem because the standards are the lowest of any job out there. It's harder to get a job delivering pizzas than joining the army or the navy.

  14. by oldedude on February 9, 2026 8:54 am
First thing. I've seen a lot of changes regarding the zero's degrees. When I went in, we got a lot of "Physical Training" degrees. Depending on your rating/ job, those change a lot. The expectations of someone leading a high tech department is much more successful when someone actually understands the hardware and software.

So let's see here little concha..... considering your "knowledge" is from the 1960's and you refuse to update it That's a typical libturd response. That makes a lot of difference. The year I went in (1974) the questions about dope were "have you smoked weed in the past 72 hours? Have you taken any hallucinogen in the past month? That sort of thing. Also, the first time swearing in, yes, there was a guy in handcuffs that was given the choice. That doesn't happen anymore.

The questionnaire has now changed to In the past year have you smoked anything but recreational use marijuana? Have you "ever" taken any other illegal drug, or misused any prescription drug? That's an automatic, and EPIC Fail for you.

Most of the services (USMC, ARmy, Coast Guard for sure, don't know about the rest) have monthly trainings for the six months or so that you're waiting to get on active duty. This is to make sure sociopaths like you can't scam the system, Because none of you could last that long being expected to be somewhere they've committed to.

The services are in the black from the time the services went anti DEI, and actually are focusing on their missions. As a matter of fact, the Marines (of all the services) were getting so many recruits, they could disallow GED, anyone slightly overweight, or couldn't max the PT test to get in, along with the six-month waiting period. Since the late 1990s, the preferred recruit had an AA degree to go enlisted. What they found is those folks were generally in underpaid menial (like being an artist) and needed money for college. It "says" "GED" but you're put at the bottom of the pile. It shows to the military that your social skills are lacking and getting along with people is a "challenge."

Okay, first off Odorous - thanks for explaining the "drug history" thing because I was going to ask Navy exactly how they would know that... did he believe there was a drug history register where every pothead has to check in and sign-off on each joint they smoke or something? Or do they just ask questions? So if I were signing up now - my answers would be...

No, I have not smoked dope in the last 72 hours. (True)
    and
No, I have not taken any hallucinogen in the last 72 hours. (Also true)

If they asked me back in the 70s or early 80s when I would have been the age where people generally sign up for the military, my answers would be...

Exactly the same. And how would they know if I was lying or not? 😘

Can't tell you how many times I've skated around drug tests, lie detector tests to determine whether I was using drugs and "experts" who thought they could get me to admit to something they wanted me to say. I absolutely believe you and Navy would not be able to get by if you were using illicit drugs because that's who you are. Me? I've done it. Many times. And so did my friends I was referring to in the other post.

So far as the rest? You and Navy are just as wrong there. I've never failed at anything I WANT to do. If I WANTED to join the military - I would have easily got in just like other members of my family and my friends. It's not nearly as hard as you believe.

  16. by Indy! on February 9, 2026 6:03 pm

Bumping this one for Navy. He likes to pretend he doesn't read my posts, but we all know he does. 🙂

This is concha admitting it LIED TO A FEDEERAL AGENCY. So the little suckwad is also a felony piece of shit. Got it, you stupid fuck. Can I get your address? or just give it to navy. I'll trace you down and have you convicted of federal crimes where you'll be very happy being someone's "girlfriend"! This will be great for you!!! Just think, being thee little buttie boyz for one of your "friends?" I don't think someone could be happier!

Sorry, I digresseed from the little concha's post.

  18. by oldedude on February 9, 2026 9:29 pm
So. You went to "art" "school." got it. So you didn't "want" to go?" Maybe you were a little forced prostitute? You really need to clarify that. Because this is a way there are child abductions... jussayin...

  19. by Indy! on February 10, 2026 9:03 am

OD... you're imagining things. Where did I say I lied to the federal government? We were discussing a hypothetical situation that never occurred in real life. Are you still having trouble discerning between what is real and what is just another one of your med-fueled hallucinations?

So far as your second post, you got it backwards. I went to college for an art degree because that is what I WANTED to do. Again - it's not that hard to understand. It's a privilege to live one's life as an artist and the fact you don't understand that I find absolutely hilarious. Go ahead - keep grunting for Uncle Sam. Meanwhile I'm creating beautiful things for the world to enjoy.

    See...?

I'm not having trouble - are you? Because THIS was only THREE posts before this one...

Show me where you see the words FEDEERAL (sic) AGENCY in my post. 🙂

Interesting. because concha and cornudocurt refuse to even acknowledge that sex slaves exist. And yet you don't give a shit about that. Yes, I AM THE ONE THAT CONTINUOUSLY FIGHTS AGAINST THIS AND THE LIBTURDS DON'T GIVE A SHIT.
