I work p/t for a company that imports from China almost all of the products it sells. Early last year, after trump recklessly raised tariffs on China, I was concerned that that would cause my employer to go belly up.
Well finally, the impact of those tariffs has taken a toll on my employer and by extension my household.
- Mileage reimbursement has been reduced from $.68/mi to $.10/ mi
- Stores I serviced every 3 weeks, which is most of my stores, are now being serviced every 4 weeks
- We're now being required to cut our store service time roughly in half, which isn't enough time to do a thorough job
In addition, we're raising our prices significantly. In fact I'm in the process of updating the price labels on most of our products, which will certainly reduce already flagging sales. The biggest increase is a waiter's corkscrew that we used to sell for $4.99 that now sells for $8.99.
So even though my employer is hanging on, it feels like we're spiraling towards eventual bankruptsy, and I'm frightened because we really need the extra income I earn.
I'm certain that the situation my employer and by extension my household is in is happening across the country now.
So to all the imbeciles who voted for this shitshow,
