    Steve Phelps, NASCAR’s president, said Friday the top motorsports series in the United States does not want to be associated with politics “on the left or the right.”

    Phelps has good business sense. About half of America are Democrats and many more don't appreciate overt (and covert) insults of the President. Phelps is smart enough not to want to alienate half his prospective customer base.
