This story's been around for a few days but it points to the truth about Blue MAGAs.

That this scheme was busted suggests the GOPs aren't going to be caught naīvely trusting their opponents to play fair in this cycle of elections.

The Lincoln Project has confirmed it was behind a political stunt in which five members posed as white supremacists carrying tiki torches at a campaign stop for Glenn Youngkin, the Republican candidate for governor in Virginia, in Charlottesville ahead of election day next week.

Members of the anti-Trump Republican group stood in front of Youngkin’s campaign bus on Friday wearing white shirts, khaki pants and sunglasses.

If Dems can't be permitted to cheat, they're sunk. And, they know it.

Now, what remains is to see how they might try mail-in ballot, ballot harvesting shenanigans in Virginia.

That isn't cheating anymore than calling Biden a demented ridden piece of crap is cheating.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on October 31, 2021 10:09 am
    Of course it is.

Far as I know, sides me, the only person who's called the former 18 wheeler driver "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" is the mourning mother of a fallen soldier.

Neither of us are doing that to shape the result of an election...

...no matter how much truth there is.

Lying is always cheating regardless of who's doing it.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on October 31, 2021 1:32 pm

    Meaning?

  5. by Donna on October 31, 2021 2:56 pm
When you lie, unless you're sparing someone's feelings, you're purposely distorting reality to advance your own interests, a.k.a. cheating.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on October 31, 2021 3:03 pm

    What's the lie?

  7. by islander on October 31, 2021 3:18 pm

This is why Democrats shouldn't cheat and lie like Republicans.

“In the struggle to save democracy, there are some who insist that Democrats should “fight like Republicans.” This is sometimes framed as “Democrats are bringing a knife to a gunfight” or “you have to fight fire with fire” or “it’s time for hardball tactics.

In left-leaning social media right now, lots of people are literally demanding that Democrats set aside rules and procedures and essentially imitate Trump and the Barr-DOJ.”

I think Teri does make a good case for not fighting fire with fire.

” No, Democrats Should Not Fight (or Behave) Like Republicans
I’m going to start with the conclusion from Harvard professors Ziblatt and Levitsky, the authors of How Democracies Die, who say this: “In our view, the idea that Democrats should “fight like Republicans” is misguided. First of all, evidence from other countries suggests that such a strategy often plays directly into the hands of authoritarians."

That makes sense, right? The Republican Party is using hardball tactics. They are glorifying lawbreaking and insurrectionists. They disregard rules and laws. They do this because they don’t want to live in a rule of law government that is no longer serving their interests. They want to bring it all down.

People who want to save rule of law shouldn’t use the same tactics as those who want to destroy it. According to Professor Steven Levitsky, “The greatest danger to democracy is escalation.” He says: “Escalation rarely ends well.””

I'd love to see examples of such behavior.

What I'm seeing Big Lie propaganda right out the the Nazi handbook from the 1930s.

I'm not suggesting that all GOPs are paragons of virtue. But, bigots and haters always judge a whole group of people by the behavior or a minority.

  11. by islander on November 1, 2021 1:22 pm

Hate, with regard to the law breaking and criminal behavior of Republicans, you say: ”I'd love to see examples of such behavior”

All one has to do is open one’s eyes and look. Those who stormed the Capital and their enablers, the ones who tried to subvert the election and prevent the peaceful transition of power were Republicans, not Democrats. Let’s look at recent history; how many associated with the Nixon administration were indicted and/or convicted of breaking the law? How about the Reagan administration, and now the Trump administration? Compare those numbers to those of the Carter, Clinton, Obama or the Biden administrations. Now tell me if you honestly can’t see it.

No doubt, a small minority of GOPs are guilty of your charges, but only that.

You need to come down to earth.

  13. by islander on November 1, 2021 2:50 pm

Nah! As hectic as it can be, I prefer the real world.

  14. by HatetheSwamp on November 1, 2021 3:19 pm

    You've got it bad.

GOPs are filthy. All of 'em. Dems are pure as the driven snow.

    Yeah.

I think you just made my point.

And, uh, Jake Tapper is your source?????

” If anything, supporters are more committed than ever.” ---Hate

I suppose that’s why they are now starting to distance themselves from him and why so many of his former supporters are ashamed of their poor judgment in supporting him in the first place.

“I think you just made my point.” ---Hate

I think you are exaggerating just a bit when you said, “GOPs are filthy. All of 'em. Dems are pure as the driven snow”…Don’t you think you are exaggerating too?

I would suggest that you check various other sources if you are going to reject someone’s claim because you don’t trust the person (Jake Tapper).

Do you reject the claim that 30% of Republicans believ violence may be justified to "save" the US to former President Trump's, "Make American Great Again"?

  19. by HatetheSwamp on November 2, 2021 6:23 am

Actually, I think that the 30% figure is high.

My guess is that the number of GOPs is lower than the number of Dems, with its BLM and Antifa contingents.

What we know is that, in real life, it's supporters of the Dems who actually do riot and burn and kill.
