I was sitting here, literally eating some Cheetos, when the thought occurred to me...
Trump has got to have been aware of all the razzing he gets over his inhuman, willfully applied Cheetos Orange skin tone for years. So, why has he never done anything about it?
My theory is that he is color blind to certain color tones. Some tones look completely different than their actual color to people who suffer from various forms of color blindness. Like I have (Thanks a LOT, Y-chromosome!).
What I think is happening is that he looks in the mirror and sees what he believes to be a youthfully bronze, macho man tan. But given the combination of his color blindness and his boundless narcissism, he simply thinks that everyone else is wrong. He looks incredible! It looks great to him. And since the only opinion that ever matters to him about anything is his own, he sees no reason to change anything. Especially when everyone else is wrong. Again, it's just a theory.
I asked AI, "Has Trump ever talked about his orange skin?" Here's the response...
Donald Trump has indeed publicly addressed his distinctive orange-tinted skin, expressing frustration at how it appears on television and attributing it partly to lighting conditions. [🤣]
Public Complaints About Appearance
Donald Trump has openly complained about his skin appearing "yellow or orange" on television. He has blamed factors such as energy-efficient lightbulbs and television studio lighting, stating that these conditions make him look more orange than in real life. During his presidency, he directed changes to White House event lighting to appear less orange on camera. Trump has also lamented how certain photographs and broadcasts render his complexion in ways he finds unflattering, indicating his awareness and sensitivity to his public image in this regard.
Use of Makeup and Tanning Products
While Trump denies the use of tanning beds, there is well-documented evidence and expert opinion that he uses makeup products, including "bronzer" and self-tanning agents, to achieve his characteristic complexion. Former White House aide Stephanie Grisham confirmed that Trump personally applies translucent makeup powder for televised appearances, and professional makeup artists who have worked with him observed signs consistent with self-tanning products. Some inconsistencies in skin tone, such as lighter patches around the eyes, have been explained as residual areas protected by goggles during spray tanning.
Explanations from Dermatologists and Experts
Dermatologists note that Trump's orange skin tone can be attributed to misuse or over-application of sunless tanning lotions containing dihydroxyacetone (DHA), the common ingredient in self-tanners. While sun damage from outdoor activities like golf could also contribute to his skin condition, these products likely mask such factors. Trump has reportedly taken antibiotics for rosacea, a skin condition requiring careful management. Despite the public speculation and ridicule, his complexion remains a carefully managed aspect of his appearance.
Background and Cultural Context
Trump’s distinctive tan has been a part of his public persona since at least the mid-2000s, notably during his time on "The Apprentice." Analyses of his image suggest that the choice of this look may be connected to an association with youthfulness, health, and wealth, which tanning products can symbolize culturally. Observers and experts have linked his use of tanning products to a desire to project a particular image rather than natural skin tone or genetics alone.
In summary, Donald Trump has acknowledged publicly that his skin can appear orange or yellow on TV due to lighting, and many credible sources confirm he uses makeup and self-tanning products, which contribute to the hue. His concern about his appearance and deliberate adjustments to lighting and makeup show a consistent awareness of how his skin tone is perceived.
Okay! My theory still holds!
So he is aware that others see his skin as orange. But we don't know if he can tell that it's orange or not himself. He may just be going along to not spur any rumors that he has color blindness or something. I would not put any of this past him. Admitting to any human failing is existentially against his religion.
And I love how the problem is entirely of his own causing. But rather than change anything that he's doing, he demands that everyone else make adjustments for it. Classic Trump.
