The Trump administration said Monday that it will provide only half of the normal food stamp benefits for November by tapping into the program’s contingency fund amid the government shutdown. But recipients are not likely to see the payments immediately.

Some $4.65 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program’s contingency fund will “be obligated to cover 50% of eligible households’ current allotments” for November, according to a sworn statement from a US Department of Agriculture official submitted in federal court. The remaining $600 million in the fund will be used for state administrative expenses and nutrition assistance for Puerto Rico and American Samoa.

The decision came after a federal judge in Rhode Island ordered the USDA last week to either start providing full November benefits to recipients or partial benefits if the agency opts to only draw on SNAP’s contingency fund.

In court papers filed Monday, the administration said it decided against pulling $4 billion from other sources of money to provide full benefits for November.

Nearly 42 million Americans receive food stamps, providing households just over $350 a month, on average, as of May, according to the most recent USDA data.

The agency’s unprecedented decision to halt benefits has panicked many recipients, driving them to overwhelmed food pantries to help feed themselves and their families. Millions of SNAP recipients started missing their benefits on Saturday, and millions more could find themselves in the same situation over the course of the month, depending on when payments are made.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Trump is such an idiot. If shortly after the shutdown he had declared that he was going to release the funds for SNAP to keep any disadvantaged people on it from suffering from the shutdown "that the Democrats have caused". He could have looked like an actual hero.

But no. He waits until a judge orders him to release the money and then only releases half of it, thereby looking like a total schmuck. Trump is existentially determined to stop giving money to poor people. So he couldn't do such a thing even if it would have helped him. His goal is to starve poor people to death, or get them to self deport themselves to some other country. Cutting SNAP is just a start.

AI, would you mind telling me "How much does the Trump administration plan to cut from SNAP?"

"The Trump administration planned significant reductions to SNAP funding, proposing cuts close to $300 billion over the next decade, leading to partial funding and reductions in monthly benefits for millions of Americans.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps, has been targeted for substantial funding cuts under the Trump administration. Recent spending bills and tax policies have proposed reducing federal SNAP funding by about $186 billion to nearly $300 billion over the next 10 years.

These cuts have concrete implications for beneficiaries: millions of Americans who rely on SNAP have seen delays in receiving benefits and reduced amounts in monthly food assistance, as the administration has chosen to partially fund the program.

For example, a partial payment of $4.65 billion was committed, but even this funding could take several months to reach recipients.

One critical policy decision was the administration's refusal to use emergency funds to fully maintain SNAP benefits during government shutdowns, directly affecting nearly 42 million Americans reliant on this aid
[It has changed this as of yesterday].

This has raised concerns about food insecurity and hardship for vulnerable populations.

In summary, the Trump administration’s fiscal policies reflect a goal of sharply curtailing SNAP spending, with cuts totaling hundreds of billions of dollars over a decade, partial benefit payments, and delays in aid distribution affecting millions across the country.

Understanding these changes is essential for those tracking federal nutrition assistance and its social impact."

Thanks, AI!

But remember, folks... It's the Democrats who don't care about poor people.

Just saw a great segment of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart about Trump holding a lavish Great Gatsby themed "Let Them Eat Cake" Halloween party I think it was called at Maralago as poor people were losing their food assistance.

My favorite line from it was, "Trump doesn't give afuck about even looking like he gives afuck".

    It's funny 'cuz it's true.

If that CR had been passed, SNAP'd be fully funded, baha.

  3. by Ponderer on November 4, 2025 7:17 am

...and millions of people would lose their healthcare. Not that you or your Mango Messiah give a flyingfuck about any of that.

    Trump's likely reasoning...?:

"If I've already starved all the poor people, what the hell do they need healthcare for?"

And again, Trump was supposed to release the funds automatically. He could have done what the courts had to force him to do at any time.

But then, he didn't want to lose his bargaining chip until someone made him. Plus, he doesn't give a flyingfuck about poor people.

All of us bring our own preferences and prejudices to every moment of our lives. You, more than anyone I've ever encountered, wallow in yours.

So,... if the GOPs are right, SwampDems will end the shutdown before the week's out. And, you'll see that pb was correct about GOPs and health insurance...

... but, let not your heart be troubled. We all know ahead of time that you won't acknowledge it.

pedophile's bitch, why do you think that Johnson couldn't ever even mention a single policy issue from the Republicans' "healthcare plan" whenever he's asked about it? If their plan is so great, it would behoove them to talk as much about it while people are terrified that they are going to be left with nothing.

I'm going with Occam's Razor on this one: It's because they don't have one.

Why on Earth would Trump and the MAGA Party go to all the trouble of working for years at taking away healthcare from people who they don't want to give it to... just to give it back to them?

Folks, pedophile's bitch doesn't even know anything about his own party's existential goals for this country.

I know I told pedophile's bitch to read up on Project 2025, but maybe the Cliff notes on it from AI can get it through to him....

Project 2025 outlines significant changes to healthcare policy that could adversely affect coverage, particularly for low-income individuals and children, by proposing cuts to Medicaid and altering federal funding structures.

    Key Proposals and Impacts

    Medicaid Restructuring:
Project 2025 suggests converting Medicaid into block grants or implementing per capita caps. This would limit federal funding to states, regardless of actual healthcare costs, potentially leading to reduced benefits and stricter eligibility criteria for millions of low-income individuals.

    Coverage Limitations:
The initiative proposes imposing work requirements for Medicaid recipients, which could result in many losing their coverage due to increased administrative burdens and complexity. Additionally, it suggests creating time limits and lifetime caps on coverage, particularly affecting those with chronic health conditions.

    Impact on Children’s Healthcare:
The proposals could eliminate essential childhood screenings, vaccinations, and early interventions, significantly increasing healthcare costs for low-income families and jeopardizing the health of children with chronic conditions.

    Increased Out-of-Pocket Costs:
The plan is expected to raise out-of-pocket expenses for patients, particularly those relying on critical medications like insulin, which could lead to worse health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

    Public Health Agency Changes:
Project 2025 also includes recommendations to limit the CDC's role in public health guidance, which could hinder effective responses to health crises and reduce the agency's ability to address social determinants of health.

    Conclusion
Overall, Project 2025 presents a conservative healthcare agenda that could lead to significant reductions in coverage and access to care for many Americans, particularly low-income families and children. The proposals aim to reshape Medicaid and public health policy in ways that may increase healthcare inequities and financial burdens on vulnerable populations.

pedophile's bitch is of course free to present us with even just a basic outline of the "Republican Healthcare Plan"..............

Geez, I felt dirty even just typing that absurd phrase.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on November 4, 2025 8:32 am

"Why on Earth would Trump and the MAGA Party go to all the trouble of working for years at taking away healthcare...?"

GOPs never ever did that, not even once.

  10. by Ponderer on November 4, 2025 8:51 am

They did. They did it with every "NO" vote they ever placed on anything having to do with providing healthcare to Americans.

The former Republican Party has tried to thwart every single policy involving healthcare for literally decades.

(Just the thought of pedophile's bitch searching and searching in vain to find even one single instance of Republicans supporting anything about healthcare since before the turn of the century warms my heart to no end.)

Trump despises poor people. He only needed them for votes. He even told them that to their faces at one of his rallies, and they still voted for him! He wants them all to die sick and hungry now that he's dictator.

And they wonder why the rest of America calls it a cult 🙄
