ADM Alvin Holsey, the Navy admiral who oversees military operations in the region where U.S. forces have been attacking alleged drug boats off Venezuela will retire in December, he and the Defense Secretary announced Thursday.

Adm. Holsey became the leader of U.S. Southern Command in November, overseeing an area that encompasses the Caribbean Sea and waters off South America. These types of postings typically last between three and four years. Holsey said in a statement posted on the command's Facebook page that it's "been an honor to serve our nation, the American people and support and defend our Constitution for over 37 years." "Effective 12 December 2025 I will retire from the US Navy," Holsey said in a statement posted on Southern Command's X account.

No commentary on that from you? Because we all saw the story earlier.

  2. by oldedude on October 17, 2025 12:17 pm
Funny, because there's nothing but a left wing rag that says "RESIGNED." asshole. Learn how to fcking read.

And you LIED about it. A "resignation" would be immediate. If he was fired, that would be immediate. It isn't dikead. You're a lying sack of shit.

  3. by Indy! on October 17, 2025 1:25 pm

Again, Odorous - AS ALWAYS - either point out my "lie" or accept your NOW PERMANENT POSITION as the Official Board Liar.

  4. by oldedude on October 17, 2025 2:55 pm
All well and good and probably 100% correct except for one thing... there will never be any war crimes prosecuted. Obama made sure of that when he didn't prosecute Bush. Whichever D gets elected in 2028 (if we still have elections then) will do the same thing Obama did - say something cute like "we're looking forward not backwards" and let Trump and Hegseth off the hook for these murders.

WTF does that have to do with someone retiring after 37 years? The answer? NOTHING. You're too stupid to understand you were set up, dumbass🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The point is that you were using a grossly misleading and lying source. I found four sources that said you lied. AND they were left wing sources. And you fell for the whole thing, hook, line and fucking sinker. But I guess when your sole source of information is tik tock.

This thread and especially the headline is about the proper use of military argot.

In military terms, retire means to complete the required years of service (typically 20) and leave active duty with lifetime retirement pay and benefits, while resign means to voluntarily leave service before the completion of a service commitment, often losing retirement benefits. Retirement is a long-term process of completing one's service, whereas resignation is an early separation.

  6. by oldedude on October 17, 2025 4:33 pm
Okay... Both sides are saying "retired." He had like 37 years in. Navy Cross awardee, Two Purple Hearts, etcetcetc.

My point is the libtard rag, insists he RESIGNED, which after 37 years, would be stupid. AND someone of his rank and career could (my guess) resign or be relieved of duty and still receive their retirement. That's not unknown. My point is that reliable sources from the left reported this as a "retirement." The fact that he's out before Christmas would make sense. If he was forced resignation, he'd be leaving immediately. That's the way politics work.

So I'm calling bullshit on the original post. And citation. And I understand that there are too sides (or more) but that was really flagrant.

  7. by Indy! on October 17, 2025 6:44 pm

I almost hesitate to ask, but curiosity is getting the best of me - what does that post of mine... FROM A TOTALLY DIFFERENT THREAD DISCUSSING A TOTALLY DIFFERENT THING... have to do with him resigning (or retiring or what he's doing)? I never said a single thing about him resigning/retiring, numbnuts.

  8. by oldedude on October 17, 2025 6:55 pm
I agree that you probably didn't know it was your usual bullshit that didn't make any sense in the thread. That's YOUR MO. Donna told me to look at your thread, which I normally don't do, because you're a waste of my time.

So your ranted and raved about some bullshit about people not being charged with fucking war crimes, and would have only been valid if you sucked on her "hook" fully, and got the line and sinker also. So you might want to read the entire post. AND donna's post said he resigned. Which was patently a LIE. And YOU jumped on the LIE and ranted about it. If you can't realise how you are so off target 99% of the time, I feel sorry for you.

  9. by Indy! on October 17, 2025 7:34 pm

I never said a single word about him retiring (or resigning). You need to learn how to man-up and admit you made a mistake, Old Dud.

  10. by oldedude on October 17, 2025 8:31 pm
You completely jumped on the homer bandwagon and talked about everything BUT. So basically, you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. I maybe you are to STUPID to actually read things before you post. So I'll give you that.

    From AI:

A leaked private letter reportedly contained the quote, which refers to his opposition to U.S. airstrikes against Venezuelan vessels.
According to these reports, Holsey wrote, "I cannot, in good conscience, authorize or execute orders that risk innocent lives and compromise the principles I swore to uphold".

    Context of Admiral Holsey's resignation

    Controversial airstrikes:
The quote was in reference to controversial U.S. strikes against boats suspected of drug trafficking off the coast of Venezuela. Critics, including some lawmakers, had raised concerns about the legality and morality of these attacks, which reportedly killed more than two dozen people.

Abrupt departure: Holsey's retirement was announced less than a year into a position that typically lasts three years.
Sidelined by the White House: Though Holsey's command oversaw the operations, reporting from sources cited by outlets like the New York Times and CNN indicated that the White House had largely sidelined him from the decision-making process for the strikes.

Concerns over legality: Holsey reportedly expressed private concerns about the legality of the attacks, which the White House ordered based on a counterterrorism mission.

Wider context: His resignation came amid reports of mounting tensions between military leaders and the White House, with other high-ranking minority officers also departing their posts.

He's smart. Hit the highway before it all collapses on HIM. Because you know that's what a pussy like Trump would do - blame it on the black guy.

The attacks are a war crime and an act of war against Venezuela.

Trump reportedly is repatriating the two survivors of that last attack on alleged drug smugglers.

Hmm, that's telling. Why wouldn't he convict them of drug smuggling and send them to one of his gulags? Perhaps because they weren't smuggling drugs?

  17. by Donna on October 19, 2025 11:49 am

And btw, I'm the one who chose the word "resigned", not a "left wing rag". I got that wrong.

  18. by oldedude on October 19, 2025 1:57 pm
    That works for me, Thanks.

I also understand that in your defense, depending on who you were asking, in the left rags, "resigned" was definitly used. My point was about falling for the article and their use of in their title and lead sentences.
