I remember, from back in the day, listening to Rush, that GOPs... the party that is the home of openness and inclusion, acceptance, tolerance, diversity... and freethinking... was doing a lot of thinking.

Republicans did propose several healthcare plans and amendments in 2010, though none passed Congress. As Democrats pushed for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Demoocrat-controlled House and Senate introduced alternative proposals and amendments that were not adopted.

Key elements of Republican proposals and amendments included:

Replacing the individual mandate: Instead of requiring all Americans to have insurance, Republican proposals focused on providing refundable tax credits to help individuals purchase insurance in the private market.

Encouraging market competition: Republicans sought to lower costs by encouraging market competition, including by allowing insurance to be sold across state lines.

Promoting Health Savings Accounts (HSAs): Another major component was the expansion and enhancement of HSAs, which allow for tax-advantaged savings for future medical expenses.

Capping damages in medical liability lawsuits: Republicans proposed medical liability reform to help control healthcare costs.

When pb points out that people were pi$$€d that the Chicagoland thug foisted a lousy health insurance scheme on helpless voters, there are things people were FOR!!!!

Remember the 010 election? Now you understand!!!!!

And yeah none of that horseshit would have resulted in anything that would have been better than the ACA. It was all bait and switch malarkey that wouldn't have resulted in any substantial savings for Americans, so we're done with this thread.

THE GREAT AND MIGHTY po has spoken. Just because it's your whim, po, doesn't make it so.

You don't actually center the universe.

But, truth?, po?, is that The ONE did the Chicagoland thing and thugged OCare through Congress, not allowing alternative proposals, from Bernie, and from the right, to receive a fair hearing... and,... and strong-arming vulnerable Dems in the House and the Senate into voting for it... see the massive GOP landslide in 010, yeeeeeeeeeeeeha!

Those ideas suck. For example this GOP suggestion: "Instead of requiring all Americans to have insurance, Republican proposals focused on providing refundable tax credits to help individuals purchase insurance in the private market".

About a third of Americans who earn a paycheck don't make enough to pay any federal taxes. Tax credits are for wealthier taxpayers, not low income people. The same goes for medical saving accounts, etc. that don't work for poorer Americans.

I'm shocked, Curt! You don't support a GOP proposal? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the first time ever.

Point is. GOPs contributed a variety of proposals at the time. Which The ONE thugged into irrelevancy. And, people got p!$$€d, and formed the Tea Party which morphed in 016 into MAGA... and you may be paying the price for that until you assume room temperature. Bahahahahahahahahahaha ha!
