Catholic U.S. troops should be allowed to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine based solely on conscientious objection and regardless of whether abortion-related tissue was used in its creation or testing, the archbishop for the military declared in a new statement supporting service members who are seeking religious exemptions.

“No one should be forced to receive a COVID-19 vaccine if it would violate the sanctity of his or her conscience,” said Archbishop for the Military Services Timothy P. Broglio...

    Of course they can “follow their conscience” and choose to deny the vaccine (that’s Catholic Doctrine). But they also have to accept the consequences of their choices. Their religion, however, does not teach that getting vaccinated is wrong so they can’t use that excuse.

    The consequences could result in being discharged from the military.

    For me, there are just too many contradictions in all the different definitions and explanations of what Christianity is, what it teaches, and what it means to be a Christian…institutionalized or not.
