chota- But... but... OD worked on "joint task forces"! They did all that talking and discussing and handwringing over some sort of issue...!!!
Like I've said numerous times, they were crime task forces, mostly your "butties" (gangs), drugs, human trafficking. You really can't read, can you?
curt- From your sources- Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agents temporarily detained a 71-year-old U.S. citizen in California, leaving her "traumatized."
It would help if you actually knew the difference between "temporarily DETAINED and arrested.
His sister Destinee Maja described what happened to reporters. She said that agents broke the window of his vehicle, pepper sprayed him, detained him, and then took him away.
I'm not in favor of breaking the window, etc. AND it's not illegal if someone is fleeing the scene. And he was also "DETAINED."
Authorities have not told lawyers what charges Velez faces, but an official with the Department of Homeland Security told media that she was arrested for assaulting an Ice officer.
Isn't it illegal to assault an officer or agent?
Look at the CA penile code § 241 OR federally at;
18 U.S. Code § 111 - Assault on a Federal Officer
Ice agents detain US citizen as LA immigration raids continue: ‘It’s racial profiling’
A US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson said on Monday that it arrested two people at the swap meet who are now facing deportation.
This one actually SAYS DETAINED in the title. And out of the "Thousands" at the swap meet, TWO (count 'em) TWO were actually arrested.
So. What we know is that your citations also don't know the difference between arrested and detained. Or maybe they do and trust their readers are low information readers that don't know the difference and will say the same thing you did.
I also thought this would be mostly over by now and thought these would be very targeted to gangs, etc. I could live with that. Most of the sets of gangsters are known to local police. The gangs have been around since territory days. Of course they moved from running slaves for the chihuahua to running dope and slavery for the cartels. The gang units have a pretty good grasp of who's legal and not. RE: the bar/night club in Colorado Springs was known for MS and TdA selling dope, guns, and renting women. Those are the places they need to be hitting. Again, there are "H2A" VISAs specifically for Agricultural migrants. YES, they're kind of a PITA to get. That said, this can be done legally. My view is they also need to start heavily fining the employers of illegal migrants. That would help stabilize the workforce. Will we pay more for veggies? yeah, maybe. It might also stabilize the immigration issue so we can actually work on laws that makes sense. Then again. Why would anyone do that if illegal immigration helps their party?

"Task force" is code for "sweeping the problem under the table". Only someone dumb enough to get involved in a "task force" wouldn't understand that.
