The U.S. Department of Justice has subpoenaed more than 20 doctors and clinics that provide gender-affirming care to transgender minors.

As the Guardian reports, a July 9 DOJ press release did not identify the doctors and clinics that had been subpoenaed, nor did it specify the information the department was seeking. According to the release, the DOJ is investigating “healthcare fraud, false statements, and more.”

The release included a statement from anti-LGBTQ+ Attorney General Pam Bondi mischaracterizing providers of trans healthcare as “medical professionals and organizations that mutilated children in the service of a warped ideology” and warning that they would be “held accountable by this Department of Justice.”

While gender-affirming care, which encompasses a range of both surgical and nonsurgical treatments, has been endorsed by every major American medical association and leading world health authority as evidence-based, safe, and in some cases lifesaving for transgender minors, surgical intervention is rarely performed on minors and is not recommended prior to puberty.

In fact, a 2024 study out of Harvard indicated that certain gender-affirming surgeries were more prevalent among cisgender patients than trans or gender diverse patients.

Pardon my Esperanto, but... fiku ĉi tiun faŝisman putinon.

When you say "gender affirming surgeries for cisgender folks" are you talking about women getting breast implants and dudes getting penis "enhancement"? 🙂

I would think that are limited legitimate reasons for issuing a subpoena. Mainly there would need to be some sort of criminal indictment and trial, perhaps civil, in the offing. The subpoenaed person would either be a defendant or a witness.

I bet these subpoenas will be challenged.

Indy, I wondered the same thing.

That's what I took it to mean. For that matter, Viagra is a gender affirming pharmaceutical drug. Any drug that increases testosterone levels is also a gender affirming medication. Any plastic surgery a woman has done is gender affirming surgery.

po & curt😞- I would think that are limited legitimate reasons for issuing a subpoena. Mainly there would need to be some sort of criminal indictment and trial, perhaps civil, in the offing. The subpoenaed person would either be a defendant or a witness.
First and perhaps most important... Congress doesn't have the capability to charge those who aren't elected officials. Charging any of these doctors, etcetcetc, would have to be charged by DOJ or the state. AND the bar for a congressional charge is lower than federal court. So. If you don't show up, congress can go through a process to charge people with contempt of congress. Obviously, that doesn't hold much water because several federal agencies have been charged with it, and it falls by the wayside. (e.g. we're still waiting for several of hillary's folks to give subpoena'd information from that fiasco, when the dims just flipped the GOP off. So that started the GOP to flip the dims off...

What this is for, is to see about funding. Which congress (mostly the house) has control of.

AND the dims are available to pull their own witnesses. So to get your knickers in a knot is useless at this point.

"anti-LGBTQ+ Attorney General Pam Bondi mischaracterizing..."

    Baha.

Bondi ain't anti-LGBTQ+, po, and, that is the point of June being WOKE HEGEMONY IS DEAD month.

What Bondi did is, to a degree, about the truth that there is, no longer, a unified LGBTQ community. It has nuthin to do with lesbians or gays or bisexuals. In fact, Trump's Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent is very openly gay. He's among Trump's most trusted advisers. He's one of many gay men who oppose the mutilation of children.

I'm tempted to suggest that Bondi's act is anti-TQ but, really, it's only anti-mutilation.

And, it certainly is not about trans health care. It's, exactly, about the mutilation of the bodies of children.

EVERY OTHER FORM OF HEALTH CARE FOR CHILDREN SUFFERING FROM GENDER DYSPHORIA IN CHILDREN IS UNAFFECTED.

    po,

    WOKE HEGEMONY IS DEAD!

    Get used to it.

Just to be clear, sex reassignment surgery is not being performed on minors. This controversy is about puberty blockers and mascectomies.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on July 11, 2025 8:52 am

    Mastectomies are mutilating surgeries, not?

    Thanks Pondy! 🙂

I've said this before, but as a man and an artist - I don't think plastic surgery helps women or men at all. Just looks fake and sad imho. If you've been in an accident or something - okay. But in an attempt to look younger? Aging gracefully is the way to go.

    IMHO.

My first wife went to high school in a predominately Jewish part of Baltimore (she's Catholic). She told me that a lot of the Jewish girls at school got rhinoplasties (nose jobs).

Sometimes people who've undergone cosmetic surgery aren't happy with the results and feel like they were mutilated. So my question is, are those who are opposed to minors getting gender-affirming cosmetic surgeries also opposed to minors getting any kind of cosmetic surgery? How do you feel about that, Hts?

  10. by HatetheSwamp on July 11, 2025 4:21 pm

I think that all plastic surgery on minors should be age-limited.
