Hitler was of course very popular when he was elected. A huge portion of the population backed him. So many Germans pinned all their hopes on him. So many supported and defended everything that he and the Nazi party did well into the 1940's.

But in the last months of the war, things were not looking too good for the Master Race. Defeat was written all over the walls for Hitler's underlings to clearly see. Along with all intelligent German citizens. In fact, a great many Germans realized what Hitler was all about quite early on.

All the way up until all hell was raining down on a defenseless Berlin and Hitler was blowing his brains out in that bunker, I just wonder how many faithful Germans who had backed Hitler with every last fiber of their being and who still believed in him utterly... Still believed that he was right about everything... Still believed every lie he ever told... Still believed that he was going to be the answer for Germany... Still believed that he was going to Make Germany Great Again.

Because I bet that portion of Germans wouldn't hold a candle to the percentage of this country who will be in that category when the inevitability of Trump's nihilistic social and economic policies has already carpet-bombed this entire country into third-world status.

First of all, what did the Germans in WW2 have to compare to what was happening to them? All there was then was radio and newspapers, both of which Hitler totally controlled. There was no internet, where people could do vast research and learn what was going on in real time. You could almost forgive them for falling for such a bigoted, bloviating bullshitter, as thorough as he was. What excuse does the Modern MAGA Hat have? The truth of who and what Trump is and how all he wants to do is rape the livingshit out of this country has been ubiquitously out there for them to find and see with no censors hindering them at all. At that time, we didn't have the biometrics we do now. so having the body was essential at the time. Anyway, it started with his early years. Knew most of it, but did not know (or remember) he was a soldier in WWI. They explained how he must have been absolutely terrible because he was in for quite awhile and was never promoted from private (or the German equivalent) while all the people around him were promoted even if they were average soldiers due to spending the entire war in uniform.
