We got an early start to avoid the heat and ended up at our usual protest spot on 22nd St at Ried Park. There were already a lot of people for what ended up being an all-day thing. We managed to make it to 10am. It was already 95. I got a lot of thumbs-up, honks, and kudos for my sign that said...

I don't know how many people were there, but there have been several other demonstrations on that exact same spot (I know, because it's on my way to work) and this blew it away. My favorite sign was: "All of my outrage can't fit on this sign." There was a car that drove by — the husband was driving and a little old lady was holding a sign out the window. She looked like she was about 90. She was so tiny, her eyes were just barely peeking up above the sign. It just said, "Silence is consent." I thought, "You. Are. A badass." It's not clear if the peacekeeping team is the same as regular sworn police officers. It's at least second to the 1970 Earth Day protests nationwide. And it didn't take the organizers a lot to spark it off. Word of mouth and news coverage of it got hordes of people to look up online where they could participate. Protests sprung up in little hamlets and villages all over without anyone having to be told to do it. What a glorious presentation of what a free people look like. While we still are free anyways.
