Beta test my latest political selector.

It is not a certainty, but demographics can predict a person's major political party affiliation based on various factors. Those factors include religion, age, gender, location, education level, and income among others. Select the options from the following 12 questions that best describe you or somebody you know.

Mine said Democrat or lean Democrat. Not even close.

I don't need a computer to "predict" my political affiliation, but I'll beta test it for you, Curt.

    Indy,
From all that you posted here over the many years---despite your grousing about Democrats---you definitely align with people who are Democrats. You are not a Republican.

Anyway the demographic studies and polls I researched only looked at the two major parties not the occasional minor party voters.

I was 100% Dem, 77% GOP but I marked, none of the above three times.

  6. by Curt_Anderson on June 10, 2025 8:08 am
What were you "none of the above" thrice? I would think you would be able to find yourself in the options offered on every question.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on June 10, 2025 8:19 am

One of them was the religion thing and, obviously you couldn't include "Follow Jesus but loathe institutionalized Christianity." None of the choices felt comfortable.

    I checked out t'others.

Curt: The only reason it appears to someone like you - a person who sees everything in black or white - that I "lean Democrat" is because you only see two options... R or D. The Democrats as a party do not represent me in any way at all. They do not support the issues I support, they do not believe the things I believe and I haven't voted for them since 2016 when I had to vote D to vote for Bernie (an Independent). The reason I generally "side with the Democrats" on this board is because the Rs are WORSE than the Democrats (if that's even possible). Also some of the Dems on this board still think the Ds are the ideal version of the Ds that supported things like universal healthcare and other issues they haven't supported in decades which makes it look like we're dovetailing when in reality I actually support those issues and you, Robert and some others don't.

  9. by Indy! on June 10, 2025 9:16 am

Forgot - the bottom line is there is no party in America that I side with or "lean towards". I am an independent and btw - I suspect the only reason you made that survey was a sad attempt to convince people they are either R or D and if there is no other choice because both parties (but especially the Ds) are dying out. People are onto the stupid game and getting tired of it. That's why kids vote for Trump - not because they align with him (heck, they hate him too). They voted for him to show the Democrats they aren't going to just buy in because you losers are the "lesser of the two evils" which - in a lot of ways - you're not.... you're just as evil.

    Indy,
I still say you are a "lean Democrat". That isn't to say you will vote for a Democrat in the next election. Think of it this way: you may be unlikely to vote for a Democrat, but you are HIGHLY unlikely to vote for a Republican. In the past, you have probably voted for more Democrats (or independents who caucus with Democrats) than Republican candidates.

Based on demographic data, Republicans shouldn't bother knocking on your door or sending you campaign literature. The Democrats have a slender sliver of a chance getting your vote.

  11. by Indy! on June 10, 2025 11:12 am

Wishful thinking on your part, Curt. You don't understand what I meant by "I'll never vote D again". I mean that literally - I have not voted for any candidate with a D next to their name since 2016 when Hillary bought the DNC and purposely tanked Bernie Sanders campaign. If you want to go the "unlikely" route - it is HIGHLY unlikely I will ever vote for D again and HIGHLY unlikely I'll ever vote for the GOP (which would be a first). Neither party is ever going to align with my beliefs close enough for me to vote for them. I'm progressive. Both parties are regressive.
