So. The constitution gives ultimate authority of the militia to the President.

The "posse comitatus" act gives the governors the authority of their "states' militia."

When the President wants to activate the National Guard (Air or Army National Guard) for say, deployment to the Middle East, he goes through the National Guard Bureau (which has their manning documents, know the codes for deployment, etc), which go to the Governor's office.

If the governor needs the National Guard activated for wildfires, flood, hurricane, other natural or man-made disaster (including riots) they can do so. Kent State was one of those issues. Like I said FL and TX do it all the time.

IF the "insurrection act" is invoked, That changes most everything. If the governor agrees, fine, no issues.

Because the insurrection act is a presidential power that in this one case, over-rides posse comitatus, not only can the president activate the National Guard, but also the Reserve forces (all six services) and active-duty military, which a governor has no right to. So the remarks about activating Marines from Camp Pendleton or 29 stumps, is possible. The difference is proficiency. Medical, Intel, Engineers, ATC units etc are no issue. The issue is the ROE. Civilian LEA, v. Military. When cars start burning, buildings are next. When people get stoopid, the chances of someone getting hurt or killed escalates. That's a problem.

At times, using the National Guard is an excellent idea. They are locals, normally serving in their own state (or DC). They know the locals (if it's locals rioting, or in the natural disaster).

    "Kent State."

How far is that beyond the realm of possibility?

  3. by Ponderer on June 9, 2025 9:32 am

    We should start a pool.

Pick the date upon which Trump's SS troops shoot and kill the first innocent victim of this Nazi takeover....

June 14, 2025 is even money.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2025 9:36 am

    Here's another pool.

The date the first member of federal law enforcement or military is, as you progressives say, 86-ed.

    Keehee ha, ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Good point, Brown Shorts. Like the cops you and OD's friends killed on J6.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2025 10:29 am

    Indy

OD and pb were denouncing J6 while it was happening. We're still waiting for any SS progressive to suggest that LA is not experiencing Camelot.

Waiting, but not holding our breath.

There almost always will be some who engage in violence when unpopular actions are being taken against peaceful human beings, whether they be actual rioters or agents provocateur.

Of course Trump was counting on that to shut down freedom of speech and assembly. It's only a matter of time before he declares Martial Law, and when that happens, it's going to be enthusiastically violated by millions of freedom-loving, democracy-loving Americans across our once-great nation, including myself and everyone I've been attending protests with.

    I can't see it.

H€ck Trump can't even get GOPs to fall in line with the Big Beautiful Bill.

The GOP is the home of openness and inclusion, acceptance, tolerance, diversity, freedom and chaos. We ain't locksteppers... like the Dems.

  9. by Indy! on June 9, 2025 11:21 am

You may have offered a few token anti-J6 comments while it was happening, but when the killers were released? You made excuses for them. Ergo - you supported J6 when it mattered.

So far as LA being Camelot? No idea what that even means. JFK has been dead for 60+ years.

    princess/indy-"Kent State."
How far is that beyond the realm of possibility?

The Kent State shootings were the killing of four and wounding of nine unarmed college students by the Ohio National Guard on the Kent State University campus. The shootings took place on May 4, 1970, during a rally opposing the expanding involvement of the Vietnam War into Cambodia by United States military forces, as well as protesting the National Guard presence on campus and the draft.

princess/indy-Like the cops you and OD's friends killed on J6.
You still refuse to cite where ANY officers were killed by protestors. If you can make that up and cite, please do.

Donna- There almost always will be some who engage in violence when unpopular actions are being taken against peaceful human beings, whether they be actual rioters or agents provocateur.
So you deny that TdA and MS/MS13 are violent, correct? That seems to me to be a view based on convivence, nothing else.

OD- As of today.Sheinbaum condemned reported acts of violence over the weekend: "We do not agree with violent actions as a form of protest. Burning police cars appears to be more an act of provocation than of resistance. We condemn violence, no matter where it comes from. We call on the Mexican community to act pacifically and not allow itself to be provoked."
It seems like the only people calling for violence are privigled, liberal, white "amerikans" who are already waging a revolution or civil war against the American government. So as po (or maybe it was donna, it's hard to tell the difference) said, "they" are asking for civil war, they got it. You might want to take a hint for the Mexican President. If you're demanding change through violence, you're going to partially get what you want. Violence. And I know (the inclusive you) are not prepared for the violence of a civil war. Just a word of caution.

OD thinks Kent State was a success for the right when it actually went a long way towards ending that illegal war. Shoot a couple non-violent protesters who aren't afraid of immigrants (like you) and see how long Trump and you MAGAts last.

  12. by Ponderer on June 9, 2025 4:06 pm

Trump just ordered 700 US Marines (which isn't a militia) into L.A.

    What a pussy.

Obama deported 3.2 MILLION undocumented immigrants and never had to call in the NG or any other part of our military.|

84th time I've asked..... or it seems like, because is too cowardly to face the fact that he's a lying little bitch.

Trump just ordered 700 US Marines (which isn't a militia) into L.A.

    What a pussy.

This is what I was talking about (which princess LIED about), that when you have "National Guard" their level of training is inferior to active duty. My bet is they got notified of a maybe (this is when your buttie, walz, "resigned" from the National guard). So instead of calling him a "pussy" what he's trying to do is to bring a higher trained unit to keep casualties DOWN. If they wanted MORE casualties, they'd get a National Guard Ranger unit. We called them Gucciguys. Great equipment, again a National Guard unit, so their "mandatory" training is 100 hours more than what they serve per year, perhaps much more than that because of the mandatory training to keep their certifications up (6 jumps/year, CWD, Urban terrain, Mountain, your dives, etcetcetc). Alot of the training is pencil whipped because there's just too much. And that's down from the DEI era, which added another 28 hours (meaning two full days of canceled training that would have saved your life.)

"So you deny that TdA and MS/MS13 are violent, correct?" - old dud

I'm just so tired of that.

I am too. Quit supporting them. Not all the folks burning cars are "peaceful" protesters. It seems to me that if someone is throwing rocks at police, burning cars, putting people's lives in jeopardy, They're assholes. You don't. You have always supported them. Like the rest of the libs on this site.

  16. by Indy! on June 10, 2025 9:20 am

Yo - cop killer - that info was posted right after you and Trump let your cop killer buddies back on the streets of the USA. If memory serves, one of them immediately killed another innocent American upon his release.

  17. by Indy! on June 10, 2025 9:22 am

Oh and if you're such a tough guy "alpha male" (snicker) try living without a gun by your side 24/7/365. You're the only pussy on this board and no one knows it better than you, queenie.

  18. by Donna on June 10, 2025 6:19 pm

The person who goes by "olde dude" is probably full of guilt about some things he did while on active duty that still keep him up at night.

It's pointless for me to even try to have a conversation with him anymore, so he shouldn't expect any more responses from me. He's beyond toxic. I'm done.

"The person who goes by "olde dude" is probably full of guilt about some things he did while on active duty that still keep him up at night."

Yeah, like running away and leaving his "friends" behind. Most spineless m-fucker I've ever seen. How can you be any good in the military if you don't have the guts to stay in the fight on a discussion board?

  20. by Donna on June 11, 2025 7:39 am

He has to imagine that we support the worst of the worst in order to make his past actions seem not as bad to himself. Every outburst like that is a projection.
