DENVER — Mike Lindell will rely on his belief that election fraud claims were true rather than proving their accuracy when he takes the stand Monday in his defamation trial brought by former Dominion Voting Systems executive Eric Coomer.

Truth is the absolute defense in a defamation trial. Lindell's attorneys plan to argue that he believed what he was saying to be true about Coomer and the 2020 election.

"If you're the defendant, you have to show a reasonable person would have thought that it was a true statement," constitutional attorney Christopher Jackson said.

Truth and believing you are telling the truth are two distinct arguments.

"The bottom-line question that the jury is going to have to answer is just whether or not the defendant was negligent in making these false statements," Jackson said.

What I like about this is that jury will decide if Mike Lindell and those who agree with his views of a "stolen election" hold a reasonable view.

His attorneys are not even attempting to claim his views on the election are based on facts.

  2. by Indy! on June 8, 2025 12:54 pm

If that fails, maybe he should try Brown Short's classic "perception is reality" angle. 🙂

  3. by Ponderer on June 8, 2025 1:59 pm

Sounds like he's mounting a stupidity defense.

  4. by Indy! on June 8, 2025 4:15 pm

At least he'll be well prepared. 🙂

Lindell comes across to ole pb as a deranged MAGA, the MAGA equivalent of, say, Rachel or the, now fired, Joy. Maybe even KJP.

And, and, gang, Curt, our Fox News correspondent, can back me up. Lindell commercials have disappeared from Fox. They used to be ubiquitous.

    I don't think Mike's doing well.

  6. by Ponderer on June 9, 2025 9:29 am

It's basically the same defense that Trump tried to use about losing the '20 election. He thinks that simply insisting that he believes that the election was stolen from him, in the face of all evidence proving the contrary, should be sufficient

Like if a bank robber truly believed that all the money in the bank was his and since they wouldn't give it all to him willingly when he asked, he had to force them to give him his money... and that should be a legitimate defense to get him off the hook.

  7. by Ponderer on June 9, 2025 9:30 am

Will someone else please explain to MAGA Hat Hate that he should refrain from ever trying to make an equitable comparison? He simply won't believe the obvious when it comes from me.

  8. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2025 9:32 am

"...in the face of all evidence..."

    Noop.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2025 9:33 am

Face, po,... and you've known it all along.

    pb's juss plane stoopid.

  10. by Ponderer on June 9, 2025 9:46 am

MAGA Hat Hate is so "stoopid" in fact that he thinks that there is actual evidence that the election was stolen. Even though no one has ever presented any. Especially in court.

That's because all the evidence points to the fact that there were no major glitches or improprieties that could have ever affected the election outcome.

MAGA Hat Hate is simply too stoopid to accept verified and fully confirmed reality just because he doesn't like.

His very cult membership depends on him accepting and believing in Trump's horseshit and drinking whatever flavor Kool-ade is set in front of him.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2025 9:58 am

"MAGA Hat Hate is so "stoopid" in fact that he thinks that there is actual evidence that the election was stolen."

Y'know what convinced ole pb that there, very likely, was serious cheating? Maybe you can convince him that there was no ballot harvesting nor diddling with the chain of custody with mail-in ballots in 020.

With all the enthusiasm there was about the Day Drinker's candidacy, how'd the Flatulent Fool end up with 6,000,000 more ballots in 020 than the Dingbat in 024!!!!!? Because I can conceive of no explanation that rejects hijinks and shenanigans.

Note: Only logical and fact-based replies will be entertained.

  12. by Indy! on June 9, 2025 9:58 am

You have to keep in mind Brown Short's ridiculous belief that "perception is reality". That means whatever Fox tells him is the "truth" because that is the org shaping his "perception" of reality. It's like a child being raised in an improper manner and carrying those issues with him/her throughout their life because the wrong thiings were imprinted on the child's brain from day 1.

"It's like a child being raised in an improper manner and carrying those issues with him/her throughout their life because the wrong things were imprinted on the child's brain from day 1." ---Indy

...and he grew up to be Donald Trump.

  14. by Indy! on June 9, 2025 10:02 am

It is so very rare for the child of the wealthy to grow up normal.

  15. by Ponderer on June 9, 2025 11:14 am

MAGA Hat Hate has had to reduce the issue down to such simplistic imbecility in order to still hang on to the imbecilic assertion that Trump was cheated out of the election. Or that there was even any massive fraud or any illegal acts that can be shown to have existed. He's got nothing.

I love his nonsensical Well why didn't that election go the same way as some other election did? excuse for logic. So asinine. So imbecilically, pig-ignorantly asinine.

  16. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2025 11:31 am

    po,

Just offer me a reasonable explanation for the fact that the "dithering and diminished" "Doddering Old Fool" pulled in 6,000,000 more ballots than Kackling Kammy. I'll be satisfied.

HtS has moved on from Kierkgagaard's 'perception is subjective' to 'perception is reality. I wondered how he came by that, as it was certainly not from any sane thinker. It was said by Lee Atwater, a Republican strategist some 30 years ago.

"The saying "perception is reality" implies that our personal understanding or interpretation of something becomes the actual truth for us, regardless of whether it aligns with objective reality. While our perceptions shape how we experience the world, they are not always accurate or representative of objective reality."

  18. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2025 12:55 pm

"HtS has moved on from Kierkgagaard's 'perception is subjective'"

    Noop. It's subjectivity is truth.

  19. by Curt_Anderson on June 9, 2025 1:11 pm
I predict that jury (if there is one) or the judge won't buy Kierkgagaard's "subjectivity is truth" postulate.

A subjective point of view is a way of seeing or interpreting things that is based on personal opinions, feelings, beliefs, or experiences. A young child, an insane or mentally handicapped person may have there own "subjectivity is truth" view and claim about something, but it may not be a reasonable conclusion based on readily accessible facts.

  20. by HatetheSwamp on June 9, 2025 1:33 pm

Truth is subjective and subjectivity is truth don't mean the same thing.

A big, initial part of the meaning of subjectivity is truth is, for example, po living, uncompromisingly, po's perception of reality... as if po's truth is the only fact po cares to understand.

po does subjectivity more purely than anyone I've ever encountered. I've said for waaaaaaay more than a decade that I envy po's subjectivity.

Fact is objective reality but, for po, for example, objective reality is inconsequential. po's conviction is po's truth.

To say subjectivity is truth is not a comment on the nature of reality. Subjectivity is truth speaks to a person's relationship with reality.

You need to stay away from the philosophy, Brown Shorts. Stick to something you know - like worshipping your sweetheart who got 6M less votes for all the reasons you post on this board everyday in order to bring her up again when she's totally irrelevant now.

  22. by Curt_Anderson on June 16, 2025 6:32 pm
A federal jury has found that businessman Mike Lindell defamed Eric Coomer, a former employee of Denver-based Dominion Voting Systems, and is ordering him to pay roughly $2.3 million in damages.

  23. by Ponderer on June 17, 2025 7:44 am

The only people who push the notion that subjectivity is truth nowadays are people for whom actual objective reality doesn't serve to bolster their baseless opinions.

  24. by Indy! on June 17, 2025 3:49 pm

I heard Fox is changing their motto from "fair and balanced" to "subjectivity is good enough".

Interesting that Brown Shorts believes the election was stolen from the Homeless Hairdo in 2020 even though he has absolutely zero facts to back that opinion. But when it comes to the Tangerine Tyrant stealing the 2024 election - and I present irrefutable evidence supporting that fact on the board here - he doesn't believe it. I'm starting to think maybe Brown Shorts thinks the definition of "subjectivity" is "following the party line".

  25. by Donna on June 17, 2025 4:32 pm

Months ago, maybe last year, Hts clarified his stance on the accuracy of the 2020 election. He said that there was fraud, but he also said that he never claimed that there was enough fraud to alter the results.

    Attention Gullible Rubes!
Huckster Mike Lindell is selling "MyCross" just like the cross he wears hanging from his neck. It is listed at $250 on his site but with the promocode, it's yours for only $125! One side - Onyx-styled black enamel with a protective clear coating. Other Side - White Mother- of-pearl styled translucent white enamel with a protective clear coating. REMEMBER: ALL SALES FINAL!

He also is claiming that he was fully exonerated and won the defamation lawsuit he just lost in Denver...but he is asking you to send him anywhere from $10 to $1000 to help with his appeal (of the case he supposedly won) and with his "fight for election integrity".

Amazing that he keeps the porn stache throughout all his legal troubles. You'd think he'd realize shaving it might make him look a little less like the low rent con artist he is.
