I just watched a live version of the Broadway play on CNN. Most of the Clooney's line are words actually spoken by Edward R. Murrow. Murrow's words and the situations portrayed during the McCarthy era are powerfully relevant and pertinent to today's politics and situations. Besides politicians appealing to the base emotions of hatred and fear, the fifties had powerful people and common citizens alike eager to dispense with due process.

Adapted for the stage from Clooney and Heslov’s screenplay for the 2005 film of the same name, “Good Night, and Good Luck” dramatizes the historic, on-air battle of real-life CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow (played by Clooney in a Tony-nominated turn) in exposing the lies and corruption of senator Joseph McCarthy’s communist investigation.

Clooney acted out this Murrow broadcast.

Didn't realize Clooney co-wrote the screenplay for that movie. It's on my list of must see films - I'll check and see if it's available on my service. I was planning on watching an A24 movie tonight, but it's a war flick so I can push it back a day if necessary.

I forgot about the simulcast. I wanted to record it and watch it later.

We watched the movie back in the day. It was brilliant.

As you know, pb monitors right-wing media on a regular basis and there's been some chatter about how much the play was a woke farce. I wanted to see for myself. I'll never know. But, if can, watch the movie.

I watched that fact versus truth discussion. I like Bret Stephens but I thought his explanation wasn't as clear as it could have been.

Facts are verifiable and objective. Facts are components of truth. Truth is the interpretation of a fact or facts. Unfortunately not all facts have equal weight. People build their own truths using varying amounts and differing weights of facts. You might say truth is the subjective conclusion people make when they ascertain what can from the known facts.
