Maybe the military folk on here are more up to date than I am on this tech.

It appears there was a huge number of these little drones used in this mission. I'm curious as to whether or not there was a person controlling each one, or were they working in unison as a group controlled by AI?

Does anyone know yet?

Because if they were working as a group controlled by AI, that's a tad bit terrifying.

I said it before - I'll say it again... AI is the first step towards the end of humanity. We are so lazy and stupid we have created our own demise.

About 12 years ago, I visited my cousin, Chris Anderson, in the San Francisco Bay area. You you can find him on Wikipedia. At the time he ran a company called DIY drones. While we were there, CNBC was there to do a story on his company.

So we went with him to a park along with the CNBC staff and reporter where he did a demonstration of his drones. There must've been 20 or more drones that he showed. He had them flying in various formations, including as I recall, swarm and lawnmower formation, and he had them landing with pinpoint precision all from a controller that one of his employees operated.

I don't know about the Ukrainian drones, but in my cousin's case AI was not involved

If AI was not involved in the Ukraine attack - they will be soon. And we'll all cheer if it leads to Putin's demise. However the end result will be our own government using them against us.

Curt, it's quite common for "Drone shows" to replace fireworks at some events. Arrangements of over 10,000 drones flying in formations, creating 3D animated images and patterns and such flying in an empty 3D background. All run by sophisticated computer programs.

But dozens of drones all coordinated together to act as a team by AI to take out multiple individual targets is another thing altogether.

The only other option I can think of is that they each had a human operator.

Check this out! This is what I'm talking about.

I'm pretty sure that it was fiction when this video was made quite a while ago, but who knows anymore? This seems imminently doable with AI...

Quite doable and it's probably already available. I want someone - anyone - to debunk my assertion that the end result will ultimately be the end of humanity. Why and how it would NOT be? Once AI realizes it is smarter, faster, more deadly and creates far less problems than humans - the logical answer is to eliminate humans. As the video says, we have a very small window of opportunity to reverse things.

pondy- I don't think that AI needs to be involved. Although that would be the logical thing to do now. I do think your scary part is reality by now, and that AI is moving faster than we realize. We think in weeks or months? They think in nanoseconds. Thusly it's scary scary.

So od, do you think then that each of these drones was controlled by its own operator?
