VOLODYMYR Zelensky has hailed Ukraine's daring drone blitz on Russian airbases as one for the "history books".

Dramatic footage captured the moment 117 expertly smuggled drones being stored inside trucks in Russia were launched by Ukraine.

President Zelensky revealed it took over 18 months to pull off the masterful attack.

It marks Kyiv's longest range operation of the conflict so far with at least 40 aircraft being attacked as part of the expert operation codenamed "Spiderweb".

In an embarrassing result for a raging Vladimir Putin 34 per cent of his cruise missile carriers at the targeted airfields were blasted, Zelensky said.

A £260million AWACS aircraft and bombers capable of dropping nuclear weapons were also struck.

    Excellent.

And the criticism of the U.S. (BBC article) is spot on.

    Good for Ukraine.

  4. by Indy! on June 1, 2025 2:48 pm

Speaking of website updates - how about the ability to post photos in the post instead only being able to link them to a URL?

  5. by Curt_Anderson on June 1, 2025 2:58 pm
    Indy,
You mean larger than the thumbnail sized image of Hillary that you posted above. Maybe I should consider that. My reason for it being tiny was that people sometimes to try to post images that cannot appear for whatever reason (like trying to post an html page instead of jpg. image). Then at least their broken image is at least smaller, but they might be visible once clicked.

  6. by Indy! on June 1, 2025 3:00 pm

I mean post the photo in the post - no links to go get it. It will be right there at whatever size it actually is in the post.

  7. by Navy2711 on June 1, 2025 3:33 pm
... or just use a free turnkey package that already has all the nice features that we want, and that are very customizable so you can push your "focus on the articles" vision.

  8. by Curt_Anderson on June 1, 2025 3:45 pm
    Indy,
I don't get what you mean. Somehow you have to link to the image. Your photo of Hillary is there. If people want to see it larger, they can with a click. I have to constrain the image size somewhat or it might be ridiculously large.

  9. by oldedude on June 1, 2025 4:00 pm
    Maybe an embedded feature.

  10. by Navy2711 on June 1, 2025 4:34 pm
I think he's saying to show the actual size pic in the post. Its not the end of the world, but I cant read "Damn you, Putin" on my phone without clicking. If the pic is already sent to the client at full size, why make the user have to click?

  11. by Curt_Anderson on June 1, 2025 4:50 pm
    Navy,
That's my point, images can be enormous like the example below. I have to constrain the size somewhat.

    whitehouse.gov

  12. by Indy! on June 1, 2025 8:05 pm

So make it resize them to whatever size you want. I can't remember ever being on any board where you had to click a thumbnail to get to the actual image. You can post videos in the body of a post - why not photos?

  13. by Ponderer on June 2, 2025 7:12 am

Curt, thanks for the changes. I like 'em.

But yeah, this image thing. I'd be really happy if I could simply get a thumbnail of a copy and pasted image from Facebook or even Google Images without using some third-party site. Like the old version of SS did. I do still miss being able to easily post my own stuff. Plus there's a new Golden Age of Meming going on now.

  14. by Ponderer on June 2, 2025 7:15 am

Well, using straight Google Images is doable already. Never mind that part. But sometimes I add a caption on it or something in Photoshop. I used to post images in here from my Facebook page here. Those were halcyon days.

  15. by Indy! on June 2, 2025 9:16 pm

Right? And Curt acts like he doesn't remember that. I don't like putting my hard work on some public site just to post it here. Like this one...

Both sides are lying, and neither side "accepts that"

My guess is that Russia has been bent over and fucked. I think these images are pretty well clear. Vlad is fucked. That's not a bad thing. The US gave them the weapons. and the UdSSR fell for it. Vlad is the little bitch in this. Deal with it.

    Indy- You don't matter. Period.

  19. by oldedude on June 2, 2025 9:47 pm
curt- This is worth looking at. The Ukrainians got shit in Russia, and launched them to their bombers. MMM. This is worth it. They wasted air bombers. That's worth it. They wasted drones which have been murdering them. THAT'S worth it. My point is that vlad the Impaler needs to be dead. He's not trumpsters' lackey. He's a wildcard.

  20. by Navy2711 on June 2, 2025 10:39 pm
    OD,

    "They wasted air bombers."

Are there other kinds of bombers?

  21. by Curt_Anderson on June 2, 2025 10:46 pm
    "[Putin]'s not trumpsters' lackey." ---OD

That I never thought. The other way around though.

  22. by oldedude on June 3, 2025 1:51 am
SAMs, SSM, NSMs yes, there are all sorts of kinds. navy should have "known" that since it known how many meals were eaten on board ship since it's an expert of everything "military."

  23. by oldedude on June 3, 2025 1:57 am
"navy" the AWACS are actually US AC that have been ripped off from US plans. AND just an FYSA, the AWACS shown is a defunct aircraft and has been replaced by more modern A/C with updated electronics. So you're at least 30 years and a BCD behind the curve.

  24. by oldedude on June 3, 2025 1:59 am
AND I give kudos for Ukraine for doing this under the nose of vlad the Impaler.
Well done! welldone. Much better than what any of the libtards could have thought of...

  25. by Navy2711 on June 3, 2025 6:44 am

    OD,

    AWACS are not bombers.
    Missiles are not bombers.

Your doctor has GOT to bump up your medication.

But in the meantime, we'll keep a sharp eye out for air bombers, undersea hot air balloons, and land-based orbital mines.

"My point is that vlad the Impaler needs to be dead." -olde dude

    , od.

Dropping dead from a heart attack would suffice just fine.

  27. by Ponderer on June 3, 2025 6:46 am

I think that if Ukraine ends up getting no help from the U.S., and if Trump doesn't secretly help Putin, Zelenskii and Ukraine are going to do just fine.

And yet you still took the time out of your day to post something specifically for me.

    I'm touched, queenie. 🥺

  29. by oldedude on June 3, 2025 10:28 am
navy- had you been actually able to read the post. It said "A £260million AWACS aircraft" full stop. There is ONE AWACS Aircraft. And I'm very aware of what they are. They were our support in the KAL007 flight the Russians shot down, when we were picking bodies out of the sea.

"and bombers capable of dropping nuclear weapons were also struck." The second phrase, indicating there were multiple bombers that were also disabled.

    Please correct your cranial/rectal inversion.

  30. by Indy! on June 3, 2025 11:19 am

Really interesting conspiracy theory concerning Bill Clinton and KAL007. 👀

  31. by oldedude on June 3, 2025 11:42 am
no conspiracy. That's what came out in the reports.

  32. by oldedude on June 3, 2025 11:47 am
Korean Air Lines Flight 007 (KE007/KAL007)[note 2] was a scheduled Korean Air Lines flight from New York City to Seoul via Anchorage, Alaska. On September 1, 1983, the flight was shot down by a Soviet Sukhoi Su-15TM Flagon-F interceptor aircraft.

Even worse, it wasn't cliton, it was Ronnie Reagan.

So every word you said was a LIE.

To add to the strike, Ukraine has just blown up the Russian bridge to Crimea again, leaving the only way in and out is in the range of Ukrainian fire. The rumour is of panic in the Crimea, fearing what appears to be an imminent invasion now that Russia cannot reinforce it by land.

  34. by Indy! on June 3, 2025 12:10 pm

You have no idea what I'm referring to OD and even if you did and that irrelevant nonsense you just posted was accurate? I still would not have been "lying" - I would have been mistaken. There's a huge difference and if you can't even tell the difference? You SURELY never went to a REAL college.

And now? Since you called me a "liar" for no reason again? I'm not even going to tell you the Bill Clinton conspiracy theory. 😎

  35. by Navy2711 on June 3, 2025 6:26 pm

    OD,

None of that has anything to do with "air bombers" or anything I said. PLEASE go see a medical professional, if you are not already on some sort of treatment plan. You're not in full possession of your faculties. You're going to wind up microwaving the teapot and burning down your house.

  36. by oldedude on June 3, 2025 7:20 pm
I realize you hate me for showing everyone you can't read American English. I'm sorry for you for that. I know it makes you look like a moron. You misread the quote, this was a simple jr HS lesson in English sentence development. So it absolutely DID have a lot to say about what you said. You misspoke. I did not.

  37. by Navy2711 on June 3, 2025 7:49 pm
Okay, well then simplify it for me. ARE there other kinds of bombers besides "air bombers"?

  38. by Curt_Anderson on June 3, 2025 8:00 pm
    Navy,
    Party bomber.

  39. by oldedude on June 3, 2025 8:12 pm
I am finally sounding in on the actual thread. I think Ukraine did a wonderful job or getting this into one of the most "secure" countries in the world. Hurray for them! They fucked Vlad the Impaler. And he called it a "terrorist attack." Are you for fucking real? I understand that was sent over TASS, but really? This is much like the "british" saying the "Colonials" were firing behind trees (which to the "british" was "illegal"). The Ukrainians use their wits and knowledge to succeed in a wonderful operation. My kudos. Keep going. Make the fucker scream.

  40. by Indy! on June 3, 2025 8:15 pm

You called the guy with a bug sprayer filled with gas who set himself on fire a terrorist.

  41. by Navy2711 on June 4, 2025 1:45 am

    OD,

Are there other kinds of "bombers" besides "air bombers"? Because the only bombers that I know about do their bombing from the air. I mean, if you drop a bomb while you're still on the surface, you might be in trouble. And of course if you're UNDER the surface, you're in even bigger trouble.

Also, you should be aware that SAMs, SSMs and NSMs are missiles, not bombers. The key difference is that when you send a bomber off to do its job, you hope it comes back. Not so much with a missile. You want those to stay ... * gestures at the bad guys* ... over THERE. The only context, that I know of, where you would call a missile a "bomber" is a cruise missile that drops cluster munitions, mines, sensors, stuff like that. Even then, you wouldn't call it a "bomber". And a SAM sure doesn't fit in that category.

Are you SURE you were in the military?

  42. by oldedude on June 4, 2025 8:38 am
Yes I'm aware that missiles are NOT bombers. Semantics. And a CRUISE is still a missile that are not used for clusters. Cruise are used for extremely specific targets, as are BDU27s. Different missions, different needs though. Clusters are on another package. And a CRUISE can be launched by Air or Ship. Are you (without any military background) telling me about how these things work?

  43. by oldedude on June 4, 2025 8:42 am
Oh, I did forget one. A cruise missile submarine is a submarine that carries and launches cruise missiles as its primary armament. Cruise missile submarines perform many of the same missions as attack submarines, but with a focus on their ability to carry and launch larger quantities of cruise missiles than typical attack submarines.

So you weren't in the military. At all. An Air Force Operator knows this, and your claim of "navy" is an insult to those that actually served.

  44. by meagain on June 4, 2025 1:04 pm
One that I know of was the "Brown Bomber." aka Joe Louis.

  45. by Navy2711 on June 4, 2025 3:09 pm

    OD,

    1. You still haven't answered the question: Are there other types of "bombers" besides "air bombers"?

    2. "And a CRUISE is still a missile that are not used for clusters."

OD, unlike you, I consider accusing someone of stolen valor, when you don't actually KNOW if it's true, to be morally reprehensible. So when I say to you things like "Are you SURE you never served in the military?", please know that I'm joking. I know that you served in the military.

Having said that ... are you sure that you served in the military? I mean, how do you not know that cruise missiles have been fitted with cluster munitions? Off the top of my head, I remember that TLAMS used to do it, and I know there were others.

    3. "Yes I'm aware that missiles are NOT bombers."

Okay, glad we can agree on that. So maybe you can understand why it was bonkers for you to answer the question, "Are there other types of bombers besides 'air bombers' " with "SAMs, SSM, NSMs yes, there are all sorts of kinds." You clearly stated that you believe that missiles are bombers. But whatever, we've got that cleared up now.

    4. "A cruise missile submarine is a submarine that carries and launches cruise missiles as its primary armament."

So now submarines are bombers. Smh. Get to the doctor, OD.

  46. by oldedude on June 4, 2025 3:19 pm
I'm saying that 1. You didn't know that cruise missiles are on subs. 2. They carry the same mission load. I understand that taking out a bunch of bombers is a great deal for the Ukrainians. Kudos to them, and they were extremely ingenious about how they did it. Nice out of the box thinking!

And my guess is the Black Sea fleet is lurking somewhere the region, including their sub fleet. Although drones aren't "manned" they're still using pilots to ID the targets. A lot has changed in the last 50 years when you got out (if you were ever in).

  47. by Navy2711 on June 4, 2025 3:48 pm

The guy that goes around accusing people of stolen valor, and positions himself as an expert on military matters ...

    1. Thinks that "bombers" can operate from somewhere besides up in the air

    2. Lists several types of missiles and calls them "bombers," but then states that he's aware that missiles are not bombers.

    3. Is not aware that cruise missiles can, and have been, fitted with cluster munitions.

  48. by Indy! on June 4, 2025 3:58 pm

That's only because his Dad's old copies of Jane magazine didn't cover that stuff.
