And then look at where olde dude and MAGA Hat Hate ludicrously took the conversation to: Fathers having sex with their daughters, rape, and old men fondling young boys. And having the personal freedom to love and marry who you need to without hurting anyone equals Hedonism...???
Nothing that the Pope was anywhere near talking about. (And why would he want to talk about 60-year-old men fondling young boys anyways? I'm starting to suspect that this Pope may have on his mind bringing back many centuries-old, ecclesiastical traditions to the Church.)
In Lead's opening sentence to this thread- Pope Leo XIV affirmed Friday that the family is founded on the “stable union between a man and a woman,” and that the unborn and elderly enjoy dignity as God’s creatures, articulating clear Catholic teaching on marriage and abortion at the start of his pontificate.
The pope stated that marriage was between a man and a woman, that covers both the laws of Genisis, moses through the laws of Christ. Including Sodom and Gomorrah, which discusses all of that. In the Pope's short mention, there are a LOT of passages covered, and lessons that apply to Jews, Christians, and Muslims (in different contexts, of course).
You have that freedom to love anyone you please. That's the key. This is the head of one sect of one religion. The Pope doesn't speak for me. Do I listen? Sure, in passing. It's interesting. Nothing more. Would he stop me? No. I'm under no obligation to him.

Neither are the Catholics. 90% of the French are Catholic, only 10% go to church. At least that's the way it once was. Here in America nobody is interested. My dad - a deacon in the Church - says his church has 25,000 members. Only 3000 or so attend church every week. The bigger problem is the parents don't bring their kids like they once did - so they aren't even being brought up in the Church.
