There's a post on the forum right now where Ponderer links to a video of Trump giving one of his raving lunatic speeches. In the responses, neither Hate nor OD want to talk about the topic of the post, which is that Trump often sounds like a babbling moron when he talks. They're twisting and dancing and obfuscating. As always.

This reluctance to discuss the actual issue is the second biggest cause of disconnect between Trump supporters and normal people. The first is that they have MASSIVE compartmentalization and tolerance for cognitive dissonance. They're thus unable to at least partly overcome their own tribalism and prejudices like normal people do.

The second reason is that, to the extent that they're aware of the first reason, they're not strong enough to address it. They simply won't discuss it. And that's the point of this post, the one that you're reading right now. Trump supporters .... WILL ... NOT ... TALK ... about him. They'll glorify him. They'll sneer and laugh at his detractors. But they ... WILL ... NOT ... TALK ... about him.

There's this sense that we've all been talking about Trump for ten years now, and despite all the talking, we're getting nowhere.

That's complete bullshit. Only one side is actually talking.

When Trump supporters are confronted with their own contradictory thinking, they INEVITABLY shield themselves from it by warping the conversation. EVERY ... SINGLE ... GODDAM ... TIME. I can not stress how much I am NOT exaggerating when I say that I can NOT get a Trump supporter to engage me in an honest conversation. I have tried. I have tried and tried and tried, with my close family and friends who are Trump supporters.

I CAN NOT get them, or any Trump supporter, to talk to me.

They.

Simply.

Won't.

Engage.

Thanks for listening to my rant. Also, I recently learned that anti-vax conspiracy theorist and all-around idiot RFK Jr. isn't quite sure if germ theory is the reason behind communicable diseases. Have a great day, everyone! :)

    They can't talk about his actual policies because they know they're onerous and horrible for America. However Trump offers the one thing right out in the open that they have been longing for their entire lives - the return of open racism and bigotry. Trump is willing to kick people out of the country simply based on skin color. He's perfectly willing to put an end to programs that encourage diversity (that eeeeeeeeevil DEI stuff!) That is the bottom line. Trump is the new Grand Dragon they've been looking for since the Civil Rights Act was passed.

    Some folks - like OD and Brown Shorts - know this, have no argument with it and are glad it is happening - but they won't admit it in front of anyone other than other MAGAts. Others - like ordinary nice people who really aren't overt racists or not even racists at all - are drawn into it by watching the propaganda on Fox who makes it all sound so "common sense"... "an immigrant killed somebody - we need to get rid of all the immigrants!" It makes them feel safe and comfortable so they don't want to hear the other side of the story - that the country will suffer greatly without the things immigrants and poor people provide the rest of us.

    But that is the true bottom line here - it's all about trying to return the country to what it was - an all white society that hid the poor, the "wrong" colors and the non-Christians in places where whitey didn't have to deal with them.

    I'm curious, tuk. On what do you base your secure optimism on? Trump's historically plummeting approval ratings? His destruction of decades old treaties and foreign alliances? His tariffs and the effects of his policies on the economy? His anonymous Nazi goons rounding up people off the streets and shipping them off to torture prisons without the slightest constitutionally required due process? His psychotic dismantling of desperately needed social programs and services? His weaponization of our justice system? His wiping his ass with the Constitution? His appointing blitheringly incompetent and woefully inexperienced, ass-kissing lackies to high office? His obviously failing excuse for a mind? The knowledge that he logically can't keep up this level of cataclysmically destructive stupidity for much longer?

    I know I am leaving out tons of other things. But please, give us an example of any way that Trump's tenure so far can be construed as a reason for any sane American citizen or legal resident to feel secure and optimistic about his continued administration.....

    Actually, you are observing the way some people have difficulty in understanding political complexities, and therefore cannot take it seriously. They are all part of the great dumbing down of American politics. Simple minded Americans are impressed with unsubstantiated allegations and hyperbolic promises. That Trump sends out his goon squad to arrest and detain people makes it all the funnier to them.

    Some people will laugh when somebody else falls and is injured. They are Trump's base. They are amused when somebody is shipped off to an El Salvador Gulag without any due process. To them DOGE firing people willy-nilly is hilarious. They have a good laugh at essential government services being slashed until unless it affects them.

    First, doctored video of selected cuts made by someone who hates trumpster. Why should I actually reply? You're so full of hatred that absolutely nothing would change your mind. So for me, it simply doesn't make sense to reply to the trolls. Much like I do with princess, and I should do with you. It was like wrongagain taking the babylon bee seriously. Good for a laugh, and it's a hack job. If you want a response. ask a real question. Make a factual statement. Then defend it.     Where are you headed? Bankruptcy, perhaps. You have just lost the Triole A rating from the one agency that had you there. Fascism, perhaps, if you are not already there. America is #35 on the international ratings of democracy. One place above the flawed or falling democracy level. That was before Trump. I expect a drop of a few places at the next assessment.

    Trump is not funny even in his most idiotic moments. He is now the most dangerous person in the world. He has destroyed the alliance that has kept world peace for 80 years. He has destroyed the international trading system that is almost as old. He is destroying the American institutions of government. They will not easily be restored.

    I’m a big fan of Doge and would like to see state and local governments do the same lots of FWA

    We are in a market correction imo not just volatility based on tariffs or the threat of tariffs. Inflation has slowed, gas and energy prices are reasonable, economic sentiment is down since the election but will rebound. Positive vibes with a possible China deal, no nation building nonsense. Border more secure, a plan to reduce Rx for all Americans, and crossing my fingers for no tax on tips or social security nothing I would benefit from now but great for seniors and service professionals. No riots, no Antifa nonsense, and the democrats completely powerless. The justice department launching an investigation on UHC and MA fraud. Good things 💪

    Do you think that the tax breaks worked out by such a great bill for the poor and middle class will make up for the added thousands of dollars that they will have to pay for everything that they buy? Besides paying for health care they can't afford without the Medicaid that Trump is trying to take away from them?

    The only people that the current tax plan that the MAGA Republicans are trying to get through... Trump's Great Beautiful Bill or whatever... only seems to benefit the billionaire class at the expense of the poor and middle class and an exploded deficit.

I know you still don't get that because you You're an "ugly American" that actually believes their "view" is the "right" view according to "your" "standards."

    Someone who has zero global view, and less than that in any international political view. Meaning your view is as shallow and as non-consequential as what wrongagain professes about "all" conservatives (although he "pretends" he "knows") how Americans "think" which is more varied than the "canadians" combined. "Americans" viewpoint is no different than any other country. They care about their country FIRST (except Americans), because they actually care about their country in any Republic on the Globe. Most other countries understand their "limitations" in voting. "Free" voting is actually a very select few countries, of which the US is one of the freest on the globe. Since you've never traveled or lived in any of these countries, you don't have any comparison at all.
