I've been to Alcatraz, as a tourist, not a long term guest.

Age and the bay's weather have done a number on the place which on a nice day is dank. The paint is peeling, the metal is rusting and the concrete is crumbling. It's also not that big. At most it has held 320 prisoners. It's probably beyond any sort of remodeling or restoration. It would need to be leveled then rebuilt.

It's also not escape-proof. Thousands of swimmers have made the 1.5 mile swim from Alcatraz Island to the San Francisco shoreline. A friend of mine is signed up for "Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon" next month. Besides the 1.5 mile swim, the triathlon includes an 18 mile hilly bike ride and an 8 mile trail run.

If it's the swamp, which you LOVE, they will open it back up. complete with suboptimal air vent systems so everyone gets the same diseases. right? For me, I don't give a "single" shit where the pedos, rapists (and their supporters), and murderers stay their times. That's what I was talking about earlier that YOU (curt) chose to ignore. I have actually the beheading of human beings. I've witnessed the drilling of a boy's skull and brains while the boy was alive.

So you didn't stop any of these atrocities because you didn't want to disobey a command? I thought the Nuremberg trials covered that.

Not sure what your dark and disturbing rant has to do with the ridiculous non-starter of idea that Trump proposed. As for the murderers, rapists and other horrible criminals in the American penal system, I'd prefer they not be in place known for its escapes.

Trump would have better luck turning Alcatraz into an upscale resort than he would with other dumb idea, turning Gaza into an upscale resort.

If Trump was serious, it would be a really stupid idea. The prison was functionally obsolete 70 years ago, it's very small, the concrete is crumbling in the harsh marine air. You would have to level it and completely rebuild, and in the process you would destroy a very lucrative cash cow, with 1.5 million people visiting Alcatraz a year, each buying a $40-60 ticket. Do the math.

The only reason he's mentioning Alcatraz is he once saw a movie. You never see a movie about Pelican Bay, the supermax prison 200 miles to the north, which I don't think anybody's ever escaped from. You can build a supermax prison anywhere, you don't have to build it on top of a tourist attraction.

Trump didn't float this idea because we need a new prison. You can build a new prison anywhere. This is just his way to get people to stop talking about the Trump Tariffs, the Republican Recession and how kids are going to get a lot fewer presents under the Christmas tree this year.

I despise Trump.

But, even more than that, I'm amused by members of, and believers in, the Swamp trying to deal with him.

pbJournalist Salena Zito saw Trump's 016 spanking of Hillary coming and wrote, before the election, “When he makes claims like this, the press takes him literally, but not seriously; his supporters take him seriously, but not literally.”

And he continues even after he's been called out many times. I think the only reason he joined the military is so he was allowed to witness the kind of things he noted in that twisted post of his above. There was always that one kid in school who couldn't wait to get to the age where he could sign up for the military so he could witness carnage up close and person and legally harm or kill other people. I have absolutely no doubt that's who OD was as a child. The pedo stuff is obviously first hand accounts.

Just more preening for the MAGAt choir - pretending he's tough and the new prisons are too soft for all these horrible immigrant "criminals" he's imagining because they're the wrong color or speak the wrong language. Only a brainwashed pack of idiots like the Fox crowd would think one of the problems in this world is we closed down Alcatraz because it had become obsolete.
