The Jimmy Butler trade was one of the best trades for Miami in their history - right up there with Shaq and Lebron.
- Warriors got Jimmy Butler
- Miami (in a 5 team trade) got Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson and a protected first round pick from the Warriors. They also got Davion Mitchell from Toronto and PJ Tucker from Utah.
Here's why it's a downright amazing trade for Miami...
- Jimmy Butler was disgruntled and not playing hard and he was never going to win us a title anyway. He was lockerroom poison when we let him go - not even allowed in the line-up. This happens with him at every team he's played - just time for him to go.
- Andrew Wiggins is a former #1 overall pick, he's won a title with the Warriors. He is already a key piece in the Heat's line-up - a starter - he put up 20pts, 8 ast and 8 reb last night in 43 minutes of play (OT game)
- Davion Mitchell - who was basically an after thought in the trade, a guy who was a role player in Toronto... is also a key piece in the reformed Heat line-up in the wake of Butler leaving. He is playing the point full time where before Butler and Tyler Herro were sharing the duties. Mitchell is a true point guard whereas Butler and Herro were not. Davion brings a more uptempo pace and can create shots as well as get shots for others. He played 40 minutes last night - 16 pts, 5 ast, 3 reb and played a key role in the OT win.
- Kyle Anderson is a decent role player - 11 mins, 5pts, 2ast, 1 reb last nighte
- Then there is the #1 pick which Riley will probably use in a trade to improve the roster in the offseason.
Miami is a very dangerous team right now - probably won't go far this year because of the unfamiliarity of the players. But next year? Finals, baby.

Indy,
Based on your comments, I bet big money on Miami to beat Cleveland in the playoffs. You didn't give me a bum steer, did you?

Don't remember telling you to bet big in the playoffs. 🤔 We're the 10th seed and Cleveland is #1 - they are way better than us. Might be the best team in the league.
