We might as well get this over with and let progressives drive the Democratic Party down the McGovern-Mondale Expressway to losing 49 states. It happens every time the party nominates someone from the far left. Let's get it over with so we can come back to our senses in 2032, nominate Josh Shapiro and undo all of the damage from the Trump years...

Nate Silver gives early nod to Ocasio-Cortez for 2028
BY LAUREN IRWIN - 04/17/25 8:35 AM ET

Pollster Nate Silver revealed his early prediction for whom he could see at the top of the Democratic Party’s 2028 ticket Wednesday: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

In a video and newsletter published to his “Silver Bulletin” Substack, Silver and former FiveThirtyEight podcast host Galen Druke both signaled Ocasio-Cortez, 35, is the likely pick in the 2028 race.

“I think there’s a lot of points in her favor at this very moment,” Druke said. “In a Yale poll just out this week, [Ocasio-Cortez] has the highest net favorability rating of any of the Democrats that they asked about.”

Druke argued polls show the New York lawmaker has a broad appeal across the Democratic Party, and there’s others who could “get on board with her.”

Okay bob, I think there are lots of arguments against her. Just my 2 cents. I would "LOVE" her to run just to see what the GOP will do to her! And I understand it's not YOUR decision. Mine wasn't for trumpster also. And then came kammie.......

    Rob3rt,

Congrats on getting your information from THE HILL and Nate Silver. Both come as close as any to calling them as they see them.

It's waaaaaaay too early to offer meaningful speculation about 028. What happens in the midterms will define what comes next. I have trouble seeing a Senator from very progressive Vermont and a House member from a D+19 district being helpful to candidates in Senate purple states and toss-up House districts.

Ole pb's early 026 prediction is that Dems'll do about as well as GOPs did in 022, i.e., win the House, but not as impressively as they hoped and fail to take the Senate.

    In 028?

The Dems Battle of Armageddon. I'm from Pennsylvania. My take on Shapiro is that he's a very effective governor, popular, but very partisan... and a good presidential nominee.

His Achilles heel? He's an EFFINJew. IMO, that makes his less likely to win the Dem nomination than to be voted for by the moderate and independent common sense voters who settle national elections.

I don't remember you being active here after 10/7 but I was, and I was stunned by the vivid and unabashed JewHate practiced by our most progressive participants: Donna, po, Islander, and even Indy. Absolutely stunning.

Donna, for quite some time, demanded that we understand that the genuine atrocity of that day was that, in retaliation for the rapes and torture and mass murder and kidnaps, Israel temporarily shut off the fresh water supply to Gaza. True!

I have trouble seeing a Jew, who openly practices his religion and who supports Israel, earning the Dem nomination in a party of social progressives and anti-semites like Donna and po. Not for another generation, at least.

For the time being, hate still runs the US.

    And, that's tragic.

Comical that anyone believes AOC is "left". She's another party hack doing whatever "Mama Bear" Nancy tells her to do. Democrats have no idea how to save their party.

Can you say "President Vance"? 😌

  4. by HatetheSwamp on April 18, 2025 7:24 am

    I can say President Vance.

And, c'mon Indy, gimme a break. You don't honestly want us to believe that, in the whole universe of DC Dems, AOC is right of center.

  5. by meagain on April 18, 2025 7:42 am
I think the main argument against her is that she is a woman. Despite the increasing numbers of women in politics and Clinton and Harris' near misses, I don't think America is ready for a female President. A poll, last year, showed 54% of the American population thinks America is. It appears that gender stereotypes still rule.

If such a thin majority thinks the country is ready, then it is not.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on April 18, 2025 8:09 am

Well, I agree, sorta. A wacked out, progressive woman, IMO, Dem like AOC won't, likely, be president for a while. And, since young voters in the US are turning conservative, a left of center woman is unlikely to be president until after a conservative/libertarian is.

Tulsi Gabbard, if she pleases MAGAs, is ole pb's guess to be the first US woman president.

  7. by Indy! on April 18, 2025 8:32 am

Please. Has nothing to do with AOC being a woman - I was a huge supporter of her when she was talking loud about real change. As soon as she had a chance to actually MAKE some REAL change - she folded up shop. The "Squad" had enough votes amongst themselves to CHANGE HOUSE LEGISLATION. Every time they had the opportunity to do so - they REFUSED to do so. So don't give me this "she's a woman" crap. meagain. She's another party hack doing what she's told by the D power structure (read: the oligarchs).

This all goes back to the Ds being complicit. They have had plenty of REAL opportunities to make change that would make a real difference in people's lives. Everytime they are there knocking on the door with enough votes to make it happen - they find some lame ass excuse to not do anything. The best, most obvious example is when Obama had the votes for universal healthcare and not only CHOSE not to pursue universal healthcare - he DEMANDED that Congress not even discuss it. So instead we got the GOP's market based health"care" plan that made the situation even worse.

Cue Curt's (a proclaimed Democrat) lame ass excuses for Obama and his weak ass party. Robert and meagain might join in too. 🙄

  8. by ROB3RT on April 18, 2025 7:27 pm

Indy, politics is about compromise. People who hold their breath till they turn blue rarely get things done. It's people who are willing to give a little to get a little.

Unless your life partner is an absolute saint, I'd bet you're permanently single, because who the fuck could live with someone unable to ever compromise? Only a saint.

  9. by Indy! on April 19, 2025 7:07 am

You say "compromise" - I say "complicit". What gets me about you weak ass Democrats is you're always ready to give the Rs whatever they want, and it never once occurs to you that you are getting absolutely nothing in return. You're exactly the kind of sucker the Ds want in their worthless party. It's why the largest group of voters in the U.S. right now is not the Rs or Ds - but the people like me who identify as independent.

bob- I agree with you completely. Good politicians are ones that will negotiate. The idea of not negotiating at this point for the dims, will get them nothing. At least if you negotiate, you can get some of the things you want. It also opens up a conversation where one side may have a better solution to a problem. Also, the "win-win" makes a republic at least better if not great.

Robert will probably buy that tune for a dollar...

Robert actually has something to say. I may not agree, but it's usually close to the thread. Meaning he can actually read. You're more like an fetal drug syndrome baby.
